I'm not very good at guessing but when I see a bull like that I'm shooting....that is when I get lucky enough to get my unit 1 archery bull tag

Checked the trail cam this morning and found some neat pictures of these two lions

The camera we are using is a Moultrie. We have it set on the high quality setting. We have a 2.0GB card and last time there were 195 pics but most of them were birds and other small critters. We are going to get the solar battery charger set up on it soon and hope it will help.
-
Not yet, we are just learning how to use the camera and can't keep the battery from dying. The first time we placed it, the battery was dead in less than a day. We got these shots the second time we put it out and it lasted about a day and a half. When I went to check it, I jumped 6 whitetails that were down in there getting a drink. I hope to get some good pics of deer next time.

I've been thinking about taking my dog out with me when I go scouting and hiking. I was wondering how many of you have tried it. If you do, what type of dog and share some of the pros and cons. Thanks for any info you can provide.

Thanks for all the information guys. The pictures everyone posted were great too. Snakes seem to be one of the biggest problems. I've heard that you can have your dog snake broke I think I'll have to look into that.

I love Nikon products. I chose to buy a fieldscop T-3 with ED glass and love it. But I have to say that when it comes to binos, I stick with Leicas or Swaros. I don't doubt that the glass is clear and bright on the Nikons, but there is so much more to it than that. Someday there might be a true contender that gives the true top tier binoculars a run for their money, but I haven't seen it yet. What I have seen over that past several years is several binocular companies introduce products that claim to be as good, but over and over again I have been disappointed. You can't go wrong with the time tested Leicas and Swaros.

Those are some cool bears...I love the video footage. What type of camera?

Those are some cool sheds. I'm out all the time and rarely find any sheds congrats!

I was lucky this year and drew a trophy East side horny toad tag....I can't wait to get out there and do some scouting.

Well, it's here at last and I love it. I really like the leg locks, quick release plates and the head pans/tilts better than I thought it could. I do think I will shorten the handle or even remove it. Thanks for the tips guys.

My old tripod bit the dust and I'm looking for a new one. I have been looking at the bogen tripods and heads. leaning toward the 190XB or an older 3001 set of legs and not sure what head is best. I know a lot of people like the grip head but I think I might go with a pan tilt. What do you guys think? I will be using it with my Leica 10X42s and a 60mm Nikon Fieldscope T3
-
Thanks for the info guys. I ordered a 190XB with the 128RC2 head. They tell me that it is the same head as the 3130. The head alone is just over 2lbs so i'm a little worried about that, but I like the large adjustment knobs and the fluid movement. I also orded an additional plate for my spotting scope. I can't wait to get it in and give it a test run. I will end up paying right at $200.00 after I get my $25.00 rebate check back from Bogen.

Wild Turkeys in the Santa Ritas??
Apatkelley replied to bmf1321's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
The Game and Fish Department knows about the turkeys in the Santa Ritas. I saw one in the Madera canyon area in Feb of this year. -
I was out doing some calling with my son and a friend Thursday when we came across a huge mess left by illegal border crossers Unfortunately, it wasn't an unfamiliar sight. I know that there are many opinions about illegal immigration, but one thing is certain, it is turning our country into a sea of refuse. I am against a path to citizenship for any illegal border crosser, but if there ever is a measure passed it should include a requirement for the applicant to assist in the clean up of the massive amounts of trash left behind on a daily basis. There isn't a single illegal border crosser that didn't contribute to the trashing of our country, and one way for them to show their love for their new country should include cleaning up the mess they made as they made their way here. I think we should figure out on average how many days it takes someone to make the trip, and then require that many days of clean up service. Applicants who don't show up for the clean up projects and give the required service would have their applications denied.

Wow!! that buck has it all. You've got my vote for best looking Archery Mule deer. Aaron

I was just on the Game and Fish website and the elk and antelope regs are posted now for fall 2008. good luck. Aaron

I also live right by Fagan. I bet our kids go to the same school. I have seen some decent bucks in that area over the years. I have also seen lots of hunters I shot a Mt. lion on the other side of Fagan in Feb. Good job last year and better luck next. Aaron

Hey, it's good to see that you got one. Over 500 yards is some shot too. Congrats. Aaron Oh, by the way, I ended up shooting a spike after 8 days of hunting I only had one other chance on a 90 inch plus deer but didn't end up taking the shot. I guess there is always next year.

One down two more to go. This is the only shooter we have found so far. Gary shot this buck at about 2:00 on the 9th opening day. The pictures didn't turn out that great but here they are. Aaron

I have a 34B tag also. I was out this morning and saw a few decent 3x3's. Good luck! Aaron

My wife shoots a Remington mod 7 youth synthetic in 7mm-08. She has killed 4 cow elk in a row with it and she says that the recoil isn't bad at all. I also shoot a 7mm-08 and have used it for elk, deer and antelope with no problems. I know that there are several great rounds to choose from but I have a soft spot for the 7mm-08.

I took my nephew on his first hunt this past weekend. He drew a unit 1 Jr. only antlerless elk tag. It was a pretty tough hunt. We got to our our trailer just after dark the night before the hunt and the elk were screaming. At times they were so loud that It almost sounded like they were standing on the porch. We got up and he had to walk at least 200 yards before we got set up for a shot. One shot later with the 7mm-08 and it was over. Then my neighbor got his tractor and helped us load the elk up and we took it back to our place for processing. My first hunt didn't go quite like that... Aaron
