LOL- The sick part is that I prolly could have used a knife, I shot him at six yards. More of being in the right place at the right time than anything though, but you are right about the confidence of taking a shot. If you don't have the mindset to see it all happening, it is hard to make alot of shots.....

Yea I'd say it is a "funky top," I am not sure what causes it, but genitic variation sure is wonderful

Well thanks for the shout out Terry , Not sure if I'd go that far, but I have spent alot of time out and about with a stick in hand. DB- I have taken both Coues and Muleys with a longbow. I enjoy "spot and spook" but occasionally will sit a stand. In 03' I took a hybrid buck from a stand over salt in unit 8 and was lucky enough to shoot a bear the very next morning. I shoot a 65# Morrison Dakota Longbow, with 230 grain Wensel Woodsmen broadheads on carbon arrows. Shooting a big heavy head like that really stabilizes out the arrow flight, and besides for this elk, I've had pass throughs on every animal I have taken with this set-up. ANDY

Great Buck Desert Bull!!! Hey De La- You have obviously never been hunting with hounds. There is way more skill involved than you think, and "all you have to do is follow?," well come on anytime buddy. You are welcome to try and "follow" my dogs, and we'll see how fast your oppinions change about shooting an animal out of a tree. And sitting, be it water or a trail or salt, is considered fair chase by all the hunting record books for a reason, CAUSE ITS NOT EASY. Some of my easiest kills have been stalking, or just wandering around and happening onto an animal. But you bust your butt scouting and learning the animals habits, then set up an ambush accordingly, there is a bit more skill involved than you see....

It's about time you Dunns had some luck breeze your way!! I have never been around a more ethical and by the book bunch. Such a great start to a hunting season couldn't have gone to a better family. The Dunns would be there in a second to anyone that is familair to them, and its about time some of that "Karma" catches up. Never have I met people more happy to see others succeeded and more willing to help get them there. Congrats to both Chris and Janice, for our hunting sport is a far better place with them apart of it. AK

Lion photos and RACKS...
Azlongears replied to Becker's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
It was a pretty good day, think this area has the potential for some good bucks. That lion isn't skinny, he's HUNGRY. Lions have a very high metabolic rate, and unless their belly's are full from a kill they look like that, and are solid mucsle. Its rare to ever find a healthy lion with much fat on them, especially down here in the desert. What do you think Epperson, your Pops ever caught an over weight cat? -
Bears and Trail Cameras
Azlongears replied to BowhuntCoues's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Those bears can be hard on cams, I have had them destroy a couple 35 mm cameras I have put out. Guess they just dont like people knowing what they are up to? LOL. -
Picked up this set this weekend out looking for lost dogs, found the first side on the hike in and then found the other about 2 hours later on the way out!!! Found the mutts as well so it was a great weekend.

Yea these cams are sweet, but I prolly wouldn't be hiking my dumb @ss all over the desert if I didn't have Becker along to get all excited with? And he might be an old buck, but there are defintily some freak genitics bouncin around the area he is living in? You think he's a grandpa Becker? LB -

The pictures were taken over a two week period, the cam is a homemade one, and they work great. Yeah in the one picture of the spike, there is a ground squirrel running by in the background with a prickly pear in its mouth!!!! Too funny.
