  1. Everyone is quite aware of our dry spell we've had these last several years and it definately has had an enormous impact on everything from our national forest to the water in our homes. This person would be the last one to pat himself on the back or even mention he has gone to the next level of giving his time and hard earned money towards helping in a way he thinks is his enjoyment instead of contributing to our water shortage. I would like to take the time to let each of you, even though I'll catch heck from him for writing this, that Mike Leas, as most of you know him as Gamehauler, has taken on the task of purchasing a water trailer and has been supplying water to much needed watering catchments throughout the rim country. Mike along with friend Dick Henry, from Payson also, has taken the next step towards our crises we're in and I personally would like to thank both of them and wanted a few of you to know what goes on behind the scenes. So with this said I say THANK YOU Mike and to those others who go without recognition helping in their own ways as well. Ask Mike to share some of his watering pictures with us.

    Back atcha!
  3. [............I am curious if this hunt is worth the $5,300.00 .......? What's crazy is that the tags are almost twice that much just a few miles away! What you guys think? Too much? Thanks for your advice, JIM> Jim, if they are throwing in a chance to shoot a piggie then I would say yes. Good luck hunting! TJ

    Blind advice?

I own the Double Bull but I also have hunted out of the Ameristep Brickhouse. You will pay $400 for mine and you could get 2 of the Brickhouse for that same price. If you want to hunt with a partner and want easy setup time and flawless design then go with the DB. I will continue to hunt from a brickhouse for a backup and they are worth the low price you pay. Black and grey cargo blankets from Harbor Freights makes a comfortable ground cloth for your blind or use outdoor carpet. The DB allows you to put a full size army cot for spending the night as well. I always brush mine up a little and have had good success and COMFORTABLE outings rain or shine.

    CROSSBOW PERMIT

Many years ago my first reaction to the crossbow was NO WAY! You either hunt with a rifle or use a bow. How selfish I was in my thinking department. Now that I can't pull my bow back, do to an injury, I'm finding it allows a person a chance to still get out and enjoy the sport of hunting. I was issued a CROSSBOW PERMIT by the azgf. I don't know anyone who has used one and my knowledge of their capability is limited to, "I know what they look like". Any info on their performance/ pros and cons would be greatly appreciated. I use a Double Bull blind and won't be climbing any trees in the near future. Thanks! TJ

    CROSSBOW PERMIT

Azcoues_addict, thanks for all the information you sent me. There is some really good reading material on those web sites. I never thought I would be in this situation but here I am not being able to use my bow do to major surgery on the shoulder. Frustrating at the least. I can't help but feel guilty about getting this crossbow permit but I just want to hunt. For two years I watched as my streingth declined. I went from shooting 75lbs down to another bow fighting to get 59lbs back. I finally had sugery to repair a torn and distached tendon. My appreciation can't be expressed enough for the info you have sent me. Thanks again and good luck with your draws and hunts. I hope your Dad continues to improve with his situation as well. TJ Gamehauler, thanks for the kind words but I'm still not getting all your sodapops whenever you need them.

    XXX Rated!!!

Anyone who knows me knows I'm a pig man at heart. Anyone can get an elk tag , but to get drawn for pig is quite special in my book. Thanks for sharing the most tasty of all game meat we are blessed with here in AZ. TJ

    First trail cam set-up

Thanks for sharing. It's better than I've done so far. You'll get better with practice. Keep us informed.
  11. Keven, since this is your first time putting out trail cameras, you will need me to follow along so I can be sure you're doing everything right. Now where is this canyon I am to meet you at? Don't be fooled by others wanting to know where this canyon is. Your secret is my secret.

best all around tripod set up

You are so fortunate to have the advise of so many experienced individuals. I personally own a Manfrotto 3130G with fluid pan head and have used the pistal grip as well. It's nice to own both but if I had to choice it would be the pan head. COOSEFAN uses his exactly the same way I do with the nose, chin, and shoulder. You can't beat it for long glassing sessions. I've not used the Outdoorsman but hear it is also a good way to go. Bought mine through Eagle Optics. Good luck and buy the best you can afford. TJ

    Got My Bow All Setup

Thanks bownut I thought that neon orange gave it the extra power. If he only has 70 lb limbs might he run into trouble down the road. just worried he might hurt himself and not be able to use that tag. Bob Bob, that's awful nice of you to be so considerate of Younghunter's health but why do I get this funny feeling it's all about the tag. Sorry but he can't transfer it if he gets hurt. I bet he will at least let you get your picture taken with it. TJ

    Bull antler growth update

Lance, you got the life. Keep them pics coming for us who are trapped in the concrete forest. My wife and I came up to Flag last year and spent a weekend just to watch the elk at Lake Mary. Watching the little ones running around and playing made our trip. Thanks again for sharing Lance. TJ

    Got My Bow All Setup

Younghunter, congr. on your 7w bull tag. Sounds like you got yourself in order for this one. Get the scouting in whenever possible. I know how hard that can be when schedules get changed. Good luck on your hunt and I look forward to meeting you in the SW.

    taxidermy

Clay did an excellent job on my lion and Gamehauler had a full mount on his sheep that turned out A-PLUS. Clay is a class act. AzP&Y, nice cow mount.

    Fishing

Yes Mark, there is at azgfd.com. I have them send the fishing report weekly. There are other topics you can get like endanger species, wildlife views, ect. They don't give any information on fishing any Indian Reservations that I know of. Enjoy! TJ

    Fishing

Younghunter, how long has it been since you fished Drift Fence? I was there last year and it was low and weedy. Only a few fish but the year before was excellent. A friend of mine fished it a couple weeks ago after the X-Diamond Flyfishing School and got skunked. The waters back up but the reserv.g&f said it had got hammered over the Holidays and the fishing has been poor since. Just an update for your information. It usually is one of my favorite ones as well. The next time I'm in the store I'll stop bye and say hello. TJ

    i hate SW

I would like to know which store also so I don't have to burn up them $3.00 a gallon gas bills. Does the Sportsman Outhouse really have stupid women, retards that are worthless, guys in optics and guns knowing nothing, employees a bunch of jokers and idiots that work for a classless outfit? When I first read your comments about your feelings towards them I thought it was funny, especially the part where you called them the Sportsman Outhouse. Then the part that got to me was you hoping someone on this site worked there so they would know just how you really feel about them. I know a few who work for the Mesa store and would hate to think you would be taking a bad day out on those employees, especially those fellow hunters who are members here on CWT.com. We have a few bad apples in our hunting sport so that doesn't mean we're all in that group. I hope it was just a bad day and tomorrow will bring you a new outlook on life. It must be the heat Lark. The Salt River this time of year would really be an excellent place to cool off. TJ

Thanks again Amanda for all your hard work to keep up this site.

Ok, I would like to apoligize to all those folks like yourself Bobbyo that have to put up with us elk tag hoggin, breggin, and obnoxious drawin profesionals. Your right, my 17 years straight for an ELK TAG is not worth mentioning. SORRY!!!!!!!!!!! TJ
  25. Have you lost your friggen mind? Did you see the thread with his trophy roomSSS ? Tony doesn't need to hunt But what about the part where he says "getting a real 9-5 job"? That's what makes me think he has gone looney tunes on us. AMEN!
