The car is a 97 chevy lumina with a 3.1 V6 engine. It appears the motor is trying to freeze up. The body is in real good shape and has been a good car with only 60,000 miles. I feel I have two options. 1. buy a new motor and have someone put it in for me. 2. sell the car as is and put towards a newer model. If someone knows a good mechanic who does this kind of work any info would be greatly appreciated. Any idea what a car like this would sell for with a motor that needs replaced. Those who know me know I don't know jack sh!$ about cars. TJ

Inverter Broadhead test #2 Cinder Block
tjhunt2 replied to wardsoutfitters's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
I will buy a package of these and give them a test of my own. I'm not one for using mechanical broadheads on big game other than turkey but that doesn't mean I won't change my mind. I'm now looking forward to trying these out. TJ -
Thanks Brian for the explanation.I get tired of hearing so much negative talk about g&f when a mistake has been made on their applications. It's great to have people like yourself in g&f to come on here to take the time and explain what can be done to correct the situation. There are some people who portray the department in a negative way but with people like yourself coming forward with a possible solution to a problem is going to change the way people portray g&f. I continue to hear more and more positive attitudes towards the department and that makes me happy. Thanks Brian for being one of those who really is making a difference for our g&f department. TJ

Inverter Broadhead test #2 Cinder Block
tjhunt2 replied to wardsoutfitters's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
I just watched the cinder block video again and noticed the broadhead didn't go thru far enough to open the blades. It would have been interesting seeing how well the blades held up. Have you done any test showing the blades actually penetrating anything? If so where can I see the video. Thanks Steven. TJ -
I have been hunting out of ground blinds for many years and have killed my share of critters. I don't know anyone who has sat the hours I have and I'm not saying I'm an expert with a blind but I do feel I have earned the right to at least comment on a few things that might help you. Deer seem to be the most spooked by a new setup. Turkeys are the least wary of a blind. I never put the blind up without brushing it in. On spots I've worked over the years I have built large blinds that stay year round and I put my blind in those a week or two before the season starts. If these spots start showing alot of foot traffic then I might wait till the night before. Remember the original blind has been there year round. My shooting window is a very small opening. I plan all my shots between 10 and no farther than 20yrds max. I use a Harbor Freight moving blanket for the flooring to keep noise down and a comfortable armchair so I can sleep without falling out. You can actually get up and move around while game is in front of you and they will not spook as long as you are quiet. Being that close you do need to use some sort of scent. When the wind is blowing and the rain is poring down you can't beat the blinds. They are not over rated. TJ

I'm definitely no expert on dog training but I just happen to own a lab exactly like yours. The wife and I were always bleeding everytime Lexie, dog's name, made contact with us. Their puppy teeth are very sharp along with their toe nails. My Lexie started loosing her baby teeth around 4months and had her adult teeth by 5 months. That is about the time she slowed down on her biting. I said slowed down. They think they are playing but can do some serious damage. I had a finger cut by one of her teeth that should have been stiched. Lexie really didn't get started chewing the house apart until around your puppy's age. Good luck with that. I watched several videos on training and finally introduced her to the e-collar a few weeks ago. She is 6 months now. The e-collar has made the world of difference in her training but she is still wrecking the entire house. Should have named her tornado or woodchuck. Not sure if the pool water will hurt her but my lab got an ear infection from swimming in the lake. They say it's pretty common. Ear drops from pet smart cured her problem. I haven't introduced my lab to the gun yet. It's my next step in her training. Great looking dog and once you get passed all the he!! they can create your love her. lol TJ

] No, your thoughts are not meaningless and your concerns are worth a second thought. We will always continue to see even more technology and you raise a good guesstion however I really liked Coach's reply to that. I walked my but off, even though it doesn't show , for many years and put miles and miles scouting & hunting and was very successful over the years without alot of these new technology tools and now use many of the new gadgets and don't particularly seeing it getting any easier for me. Probably because I don't keep myself in the shape I should and I hate to use the can't word, but I just can't walk the hills like I use to. I'm getting older and now see an advantage to some of the new technology and if that means keeping more older folks in the woods during their older years then I'm all for it. You said you have concerns about using means other than sweat equity we have lost far more than we have gained. I might have said something like that in my earlier years but now that I'm older I have to respectfully diagree with you. We have actually gained more knowledge of the game we hunt due to alot of this new technology and there are to many of them gadgets to mention. The computer is just one example of the things I'm sure you have used many times and probably didn't think about it being one of the tools of new technologies for gaining information towards increasing your odds of a successful hunt. This is a good post and thanks for sharing your opinion on the subject with us. Here is a picture I wouldn't have been able to share without new technology. Dad's deer at 80yrs. He could have never walked to where we shot this without the aid of a quad and our new ground blind with a very comfortable seat made for maybe his last deer hunt.
