That was a good write up Tony. I too went thru some of the things you experienced and can relate quite well. Jeff Sievers was my taxidermist until his death and a very sad tragedy. I don't have alot of mounts stuffed but what Jeff did still looks better than some recent mounts I've had done. Hopefully your advise will pay off for a few members on here. I've said it before and I'll say it again, "we are very fortunate to have you as a member with the knowledge you have to share". TJ

Peg and I had lunch with Mr. Quimby while we were camped at Big Lake. We drove down and met him at the FrostyBottom Cafe, which I highly recommend if you're ever in Greer. It's located just in front of the Quacker Barrel Antique Shop and has excellent sandwiches and great milkshakes. After lunch Bill invited us back to his cabin where we enjoyed listening to some of Bill's tales of Africa. It definitelly was the highlight of our trip to the White Mountains. Peg and I got a couple pictures with Bill and his book "Sixety Years A Hunter" and thought I would share them with you. Before we said our good-byes, Bill graciously gave Peg and I a gift of one of his many books. Peg was so excited that he wrote her name before mine when signing it. This book he co-wrote called "Memories from Greer" and can be found in the Greer library. It was an honor to have met Bill. Thanks Bill for the book, we value highly, and we appreciated you taking the time to spend with us. It was a great visit. This is a little late due to the fact I couldn't figure how to get the pictures on here. Peg and I spent 11 days at Big Lake, over the 4th, and it was one of the most relaxing trips I've ever taken. Slepted in everyday and never hit the water before noon. We caught just enough for a fish taco dinner one night. It was high 40s at night and one hot day of 72. Our new puppy, Lexie, ate some mushrooms and got pretty sick for a few days. Crapped all over the trailer and kepted us busy for two days picking up after her. We found Coach's camp, Jason, but his wife said he was over at the shoot. After taking pictures with Bill we never took another picture the whole trip. Never even thought about it. That's how laid back we were. "Sixety Years A Hunter" is a very interesting book. A must read. Peg doesn't know when she ever met anyone as interesting as Bill. TJ

Welcome to the site Tanner. Do you know others who are members or did you just happen upon cwt.com by yourself? We would love to see some hunt and fishing pictures. Welcome young man! TJ

This is a good topic for everyone. Whether your mounts are new or old it can happen and ruin a great looking animal. I had two beautiful mallard ducks mounted together. Then one day my wife was cleanig and said where are these bugs coming from. It was to late by then. The ducks fell apart as we picked them up. On the other hand I have a quail that is over 30yrs okd that still looks good. Now that this post has come up I will debug my mounts. Thanks for posting and a reminder for me to get off my butt and get it done. TJ
