Would you pay someone to develop/reload for you
tjhunt2 replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Rifles, Reloading and Gunsmithing
I'm not into long range shooting but if I were to go that rout I would definitely pay someone to do that part for me. For now I'll keep my shots under 20rds. Shoot straight Casey. TJ -
That is one good looking mount you got. Congrats again on your lion. What's $13,000 when you have that to show for it? lol TJ

If you're not being hassled by other hunters on your water tank then hunt it every day from 2pm thru dark. That's what I would do but I'm mostly a meat hunter so what do I know. TJ

Congratulations on your elk Nicole. I hope your elk didn't spoil over night. Now you're hooked forever on elk hunting. Great picture by the way. TJ

Congratulations on your elk. It's always nice to get your animal right off the bat. I prefer that so I can kick back and help others and playing the part of camp b!%$. TJ

Amanda, I once read a story , many years ago, that the fruit shaped like a heart was rare and sacred to the indians. They would worship the plant and claimed that it would bring bad luck to anyone who pulled the heart from the body of the plant. Good luck with the rest of your hunts on the indian reservations. TJ JUST KIDDING! That's awesome and thanks for sharing. LOL

After many years of sitting water on my hunts and helping others with their first hunts I can tell you thru experience, getting out of your stand with a little shooting light left isn't the right thing to do. I've gone thru your situation many times before I learned my lesson. Patience is the key and most of the hunters that have shared my camp can tell you the last few minutes have been the most successful time over the years. If you try and get out with a little light left you probably won't have enough time to complete a stalk not mentioning disturbing what they think is a save period of the day for watering. If they come in and you don't have enough shooting light then sit there and be quiet. Let them drink. If you have to sit there for an hour after dark then be it. If they continue to stay much longer I usually rub the tree lightly or make a bird call from the blind to get their attention but not before an hour or so. The longer you sit quietly the better your changes will be the next night for success. Good luck and continue keeping us posted how it's going. TJ

First of all congratulations to Garrett on his first elk and excellent shot placement. Second great job on getting that on video. I know how hard that must have been not to put the camera down to see what was going on at the last minute. I continue to carry my camcorder but have of yet to get the shot on video. Making this a family hunt says alot for all of you and this is what we need more of so thank you for sharing Garrett's hunt with us and I look forward to reading Garrett's story thryu his eyes. Good luck with your wife's hunt as well. TJ

After spending a couple days archery coues hunting I decided I needed to spend some time with Dad on something he hasn't done in quite a few years. So I decided the deer could wait for another season and we were going to do some dove hunting. I had been training my new lab Lexie up at the lake and found plenty of doves so decided opening morning I would have Dad and I there at daylight. Wrong! Not one single dove where I was seeing lots of birds. I should have figured the dove I was seeing was in the afternoon and not in the morning when we were there. We drove home and unloaded the boat and headed for Florence. Most of the hunters were gone by the time we arrived, 10ish, and we managd to kill 14 dove before it was just to hot for Dad. The next day we were there before shooting hour and found the action red hot. Would have had our limit by 7:30 if either one of us could hit what we where shooting at. Had our limit by 9:30 and was heading home after a great day. The time spent with Dad was well worth the time I gave up deer hunting. I will never forget hearing him cuss every time he missed a bird. lol My Lexie isn't gun broke yet so I had to leave her at home. She will be ready by the next season. Here are a few pictures. My Dad at 81yrs old We use a fishing pole to retrieve birds from the water. Top surface jitterbug! Wasn't able to cast far enough to retrieve so I was Dad's dog. Memories! Learn How to Call in an AZ Bear from the Guru
tjhunt2 replied to Hyperwrx's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
As I sit here drinking coffe, while waiting on my dove hunting partner to pick me up, I ran across this post on Reed and got all excited. It had been 20 some yrs since I heard him talk about bears and was just wondering the other day if he was still around. Made up my mind I would attend and then seen this post was posted back on Aug. 30th. That bummed me out that I missed it but glad to hear Reed is doing ok. He was the one who inspired me to call in a few bears and it doesn't get any better than that. Also glad some of you got to hear him. TJ -
