I always thought that plucking them would make them taste better with the skin left on so I would take the time to pluck all the turkeys shot in my camp. Now I skin all my turkeys and I don't taste any difference. Lately we have been deboning the meat and cooking it into pop pies. Beer can turkey on the grill injected with marinade is also one of my favorites. Plucking a turkey is a pain. Although quail and dove are easy to pluck and I always leave the skin on them. Have fun! Tony, meeting Sasha last year at the cwt.com outing makes this hurt even more for Peg and I but not what you and Ellen are going through of course. I called Peg from work this morning as soon as I read this. We both feel so sorry for your loss and we will keep you both in our thoughts and prayers. I have some pictures of Sasha playing with Lexie and we will cherish those forever. TJ

As January draws to a Close... there was much to Celebrate!
tjhunt2 replied to Coues 'n' Sheep's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
You all are being to hard on Gino. It's only been 1 day past Jan and you all expect him to post up with all the pics and stories, in one day, that he has to share? If he ain't posted by tomorrow then he is open game for short and long range shooters. TJ -
Thanks for the reports. Looks like I won't get up that way for another month. Don't catch all the crappies. Good luck to all you fishermen and gals. Keep them reports coming along with some pitures. TJ

I would use some corn as Clay suggested but beware it will bring squirrels and every bird around. The alfalfa is a great idea but only put out a small portion at a time. If you put a whole bail out they will eat the whole thing at one setting. Keep the rest covered with a tarp and the smell will keep them coming. Good luck and enjoy! TJ

Doug, I really don't know what to say but you are the best. Beautiful! TJ

What a great write up and the trail pics are some of the best I've seen. How awesome is that to have the pics and antlers of the buck you shot. Having hunting partners the likes of Scott, Trent, and Austin is without doubt a treasure in itself. After the bout you had with the surgery, all the good you do for everyone, you certainly deserved to have such a great hunt. Thanks for sharing with all of us. TJ

I, just for the life of me, have been pounding my head on how to start this post without sounding like an e-scouter. I've been around here on this site long enough to know what might get thrown my way but here goes. Here is my situation. I will be down helping out Amanda on the Women's Javelina Hunting Camp the weekend of Feb.11-13. I have signed up to be a mentor but have no knowledge of the units we are scheduled to hunt in. I know the homework and time required of a hunter that should be done prior to a hunt but there isn't going to be anytime for me to do this. I'm not sure which of the three units I will be assigned. If you would like to share some information that would be greatly appreciated and if not that's ok as well. For those who personally know me know this is out of character of me asking for anything. For those who would like to share some information please reply thru pm or e-mail me at tjhunt2@cox.net. Thanks! TJ

That's ok that I wasn't invited but did you have to post those pictures to rub it in? That all looks awesome. I know there wouldn't have been enough for Paul and I both so I conpletely understand. TJ -
Mentors Needed for Newbie Javelina Hunt
tjhunt2 replied to Dick's topic in Conservation Group Events
If it weren't for me having to work on this weekend of the Javelina Hunting Fair event I would definitely be going to help out. Sounds to me like this is going to be very educational for beginners and those seasoned hunters as well. Heck, you don't even have to have a hunting permit to go enjoy the many things they will be having during the course of the day. I encourage you to look at the web site and see for yourself all the fun stuff and vendors that will be be there. TJ -

Is she a pointer or a flusher? Never hunted behind an elk dog before. Any retrieving pictures? Good looking dog. TJ
