That was the wife and I heading for Roosevelt. Did you see the cop sitting at the cemetery? I was doing 65 in a 50 when he aimed the gun on me but I was just keeping up with traffic. I'm a little over the length limit so I always worry about being pulled over and measured. TJ

Bill, congratulations on your elk tag. When is your hunt dates? TJ

Brian, I never caught a crappie on Roosevelt and after 4 days of fishing only boated 12 fish. It was a nice time but the catching was awful. Everyone I talked to, and that was many, said the same thing. TJ

Congrats! Bull or cow? I was hoping for a bull tag but will happily except my 22n archery cow tag. 23 straight! TJ

Drew my second choice archery elk tag. TJ

Spent 4 days at Roosevelt and fishing sucked. TJ

Thanks for sharing. This is just what I needed to get me pumped about Rosy tomorrow. I know the size will not be like what's in the video but catching will be just as much fun. TJ

Nice bucks for sure. Is that a bamboo fly rod? Thanks for sharing. TJ

No problem, TJ. I was only half joking about a Maricopa County event that nobody down here has heard of. There are a million people in our little valley here in the hinterlands we call Tucson and its environs, and it would be tough to impossible to find even 200 who have heard of the Expo. I had to go to the AZGFD site to discover what the heck you and others were talking about. Don't remember being charged a $5 fee when calling for drawing results. When was that? Bill Quimby Bill...I'm guessing about 8 or 10 years ago. If I recall right, it was a 900 number you could call and get your results for $5 and not have to wait on trying to get thru. I was one of the ones who couldn't wait and paid for the service. Maybe someone else can remember when this was implemented. TJ

Ok, I'm going to give it another try. Peg and I had to drop out last year at the last minute. Save two spots for us. TJ

Sorry to hear you had to put him down. Some people think they're just animals and don't understand but to us who have owned dogs know they are much more than that. They are our family. Their unconditional love for us is just amazing. My prayers are with you and remembering all the fun you had together will help ease the pain of your loss and help heal your heart with each passing day. TJ

Thanks, I thought they might get started here soon. Might make it up Thursday and put some to bed. Got to be home by Friday evening to head for Rosy with the wife and dogs. TJ

I called today and gave my sad story spill and asked if they could give me my results and was told they were not going to be out until after April 1st. It was worth a try. It worked last year. Bill.....never said my dumb idea was fair. lol I could see them doing it like the $5 call-in they once had. TJ ps.....I had to edit this. I actually put Tony down for Bill's name. Getting late here at work and tired I suppose. Sorry!

Here is some advise for the PR man working for azgfd. If you want the biggest turn out you ever seen at your EXPO this weekend then you need to advertise the draw results will be available for the first time at the expo, before going public, for all who attends. I would think it would draw thousnds, not mentioning the money spent and the exposure azgfd would get. This event could possibly turn in to a much bigger event than could ever be imagined. Couestwhitetail.com would get all the credit for the new promotional idea and receive an award for the thousands of dollars generated from their suggestion. Maybe some grant money or even a scholarship in Coueswhitetail.com's name. I can't get over how smart I am in the mornings. Just wish it wouldn't wear off by noon. TJ

That's going to be pretty hard to beat. Thanks for sharing. TJ

Pheasant Hunt
tjhunt2 replied to hunterlee's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
I use a modified remington 870 and shot #6's last week on my very first pheasant hunt. I'ld call it more of a dog training session than a hunt though. I joined a pheasant & chukar preserve to keep my dog active during the off season. I had 5 birds put out and was able to kill all 5 with the help of Ted (aka jackshoe). If you take Chef's advise, pick up an issue of this months Outdoor Life. They have an article on how to cut and preserve your pheasant hide. I'm going to try it on my next pheasant. Good luck and take some pictures to show us. Here is a picture of Lexie and I last Tuesday. Lexie's first pheasant outing. TJ -
Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to get out this next week and pound the hills. Scouting for turkey and just might find a shed or two. Now's the time to get'em as they drop. Don't be fooled by others saying stay out of the winter grounds. They want it for themselves. Going in on foot won't bother them but illegal quad shed hunting is not good for the animals or the environment. Report all illegal quad activity. Happy shed hunting! TJ

Thanks for the report. After a little turkey scouting I might get a day or two in. TJ
