    Fly Fishing Gear

Two years ago I bought my wife a complete fly fishing outfit in hopes she would join me in learning to fly fish. We made 1 trip to Greer and she only had this on for 1 day. The wind was bad so she never got another chance to try it out. Long story short, she fell decorating Christmas lights at our trailer in Tonto Basin and dislocated her shoulder. It took two tries to get it back in place in Payson ER. She went thru an operation that has left her disabled with a limit amount of motion. They say she will never gain full use of her movement and fly fishing is out of the question so this is the reason for selling the items. These are in excellent condition and she would like to pass the savings on to someone who might be thinking of getting their wife, girlfriend, or kids in to fly fishing. $125 for cwt members minus the pontoon boat which she's asking $300. The shoes are ladies size 7 and the waste high waders are mens size. $100 new / Half price $50 $100 new / Half price $50 $50 new / Half price $25 Never used I would like to sell this all together. My wife is 5' tall. Shoe & wader sizes are on the box. I will throw in the net. This last item, OUTCAST Sporting Gear Discovery 8 pontoon boat, I don't have a picture of it put together. You can look it up on the internet. It was bought new over $600 about 4 years ago. I bought it for my wife 2 years ago from a friend who bought it new and only had it in the water maybe 3 times. It isn't your usual lightweight pontoon. It's heavy duty and comes with an attached wheel for launching. The new version of this pontoon is running around $900 if bought new today. Asking $300 I will be gone later this week fly fishing on the San Juan in NM so I will try to answer any questions on my return or in the next few days. These prices I feel are as fair as you'll ever see. TJ

    Fly Fishing Gear

I had a good friend of mine build Peg a custom rod. She was the wife of Ted Bounds, aka Jackshoe here on cwt,, but she passed away a couple months ago and it just means to much to Peg to let it go. Andy, did you and the boys draw any tags? TJ

    Fly Fishing Gear

I edited the title from Ladies Fly Fishing Gear to just Fly Fishing Gear because the only thing that was ladies were the shoes. I also forgot to put the price in my opening statement of $125 to any cwt member.. I will have these items at the Fly Caster's meeting tomorrow and the price will be $175 minus the pontoon boat. Thanks for looking. TJ

    My Bitter Sweet Wyoming Antelope

Just went back and looked at my post and saw I didn't respond to your post. No I didn't get an elk last year during the archery hunt but drew again this year so I have a chance to redeem myself. Sorry to hear your nephew didn't tag last year. It is getting harder to hunt this unit with all the hunts in there. It was a pleasure talking with you and I hope you or your friends drew some tags. TJ
  15. After 6yrs of buying bonus points for Wyoming I finally decided to cash them in while I'm still standing. A major accident a couple of years ago could have been my last hunt but the good lord has spared me and my back is a constant reminder I have to approach the hunting a little different than in the past. Since I can't seem to figure out how to get my pictures upright I will spare you with a few only. After my wife found out I was serious about going to Wyoming, she said not without her and Lexie our lab. We were on the trip 35 days and put 3500 miles on the truck pulling our 28ft fith wheel, Our first stop was Grand Junction visiting family before moving on to Cody, Wy. After 4 days their we entered Yellowstone thru the east entrance. Unbelievable place for sure. After a week in Yellowstone we exited the south entrance and headed for Jackson Hole where we stayed 5days and took in all there was to see. Every day on the road got me closer to my hunt outside of Kemerer, Wy. We stayed at a quiet RV park that had deer and antelope right in the park every day. We arrived on Tuesday and my hunt didn't start till Saturday so we took in some fishing one day with trout on the menu that evening. It totally amazed me the amount of antelope there were to look at. I found a water hole that had lots of bucks watering at and decided to purchase an archery tag for $30 that would allow me to hunt it a couple days before my rifle tag was to start. I put my Double Bull blind up but didn't hol on to any hope the antelope would approach it since it wasn't totally blended in to the surroundings. Boy was I wrong. The first day I had 5 bucks come to water. 35yrds was my farthest shooting lane and 15yrds my closest. I passed the first day and couldn't wait to get back to tell my wife how close they came to my blind. The second day I passed up 10 bucks and thought I had died and gone to heaven. The next day was Saturday and opening of rifle season. Up until now I hadn't seen another hunter so I decided I would leave my gun behind and not listen to my wife's suggestion to carry it to the blind just in case you need to reach out farther than I could shoot my bow. I was pretty confident I would arrow one of the bucks I had been passing on this day. Long about 9 am I see a buck heading right for me.I start to shake like a dog that just passed a peach seed. I miss a 35yrd shot and couldn't believe what had just happened. It was pushing noon and I have 5 bucks walk within 10yrds of my blind. Never heard them come in from behind me and my bow was on the ground. After a long drink they started to move away and I took the opportunity to reach for my bow. Now the biggest of the 5 was still dringing across the watter which was 25yrds. I was as calm as could be and place the arrow right behind the rib as he turned quartered away. He never knew what hit him as I watched blood poured from both sides. He staggered about 50 yrds and laid down. I was patting myself on the back that I had finally killed an antelope with my bow when I hear a shot rang out. I looked towards the bang and I see two hunter 150 yrds out. One of them just shot one of the bucks that was with mine. I think, no problem, untill I see them walking towards my buck. The hunters were a brother/sister team and the only way down off the self they were walking along was near my buck. My buck still wasn't dead and I could plainly see he was going to die any minute when he staggered to his feet and was about to fall over when you guessed it. The brother put two quick shots into my buck. Holy crap, I think to myself, he just shot my buck. That knocked the wind right out of my sail I'm here to tell you. I walked over to the hunters and congratulated them both and then told the brother the rest of the story. He hadn't seen the blood and was surprised the buck stood up from where he was laying. I believed him when he said he didn't know my buck had been already shot. I pulled my blind and went back to the trailer only to have to listen to my wife say I told you to take your gun as well. Nothing like kicking a dog when it's down I told her. I felt bad enough. Long story short I kill one 4 days later with my rifle. Some fish for dinner Some bucks I passed on after they drank My buck the day before I shot it After the shot at 40yrds Back at camp Some friends Lexie made Back at my sister's place in Grand Junction

    Hunting form a blind

I've been hunting out of blinds for 30yrs and have seen it all or heard the crazy stories that others have had. Stolen, burnt to the ground, gas poured all over inside and out, elk trashed, bear trashed, thrown in water holes and so on. I personally haven't had any big problems. Sometimes I have had someone sitting when I get there but that's OK with me. I don't own the spot but I do own the blind. I usually let the hunter continue to hunt or I tell him I am there to retrieve my blind. It has always worked out between me and the other hunter. Just because you have a blind on water doesn't give you a right to hunt it if someone is already there and I don't mean sitting in your blind just sitting on the water fist. If it's water then get there first even if it means hours before daylight. I like to sit up a few days before the hunt starts and check on it everyday. Most of my blinds are within a blind I have made from surrounding material. This way the game are use to this blind before you set your's inside it. Good luck on the hunt. TJ

    Hunting form a blind

Bears love messing with them.....we lost a blind to bear brutality!!! My buddy was in one last yr and a bear missed with it with him in it, bearly got out. In 22n, love blinds you can't fall out of them. Just don't point it at the sun, especially with the screen up. Wildwoody, is he the one who had the game warden come in and scare the bear away. If so, I know the guy who had the blind directly across from him. It was a crazy story and your buddy was lucky he wasn't mulled by that bear if he is the one I'm thinking of. TJ

    Half way there.

Sounds like you are off to a good start towards your single season slam Phill. Congratulations on the two birds so far. Them are some nice birds and good luck on the rest of your hunts. TRKtHNTR's suggestion might be something to think about if time allows. TJ

    19A muzzleloader goat tag

I just knew this was going to be my year at drawing a 19A muzzleloader tag with 21 bonus points but my good friend robbed me of it. Not such as good a friend as he use to be that's for sure. lol It's been about 19yrs since I hunted antelope in 19A and maybe it's a blessing I didn't draw this year. My friend drove up last Saturday and said everywhere he went were no trespassing signs. I will be helping him on his hunt and was wondering if he needs to buy an access permit for the Perkins Ranch or another if it exist? We will definitely be putting many hours in scouting and welcome any information if you have had this tag in the past. PM if you so wish to share. Thanks! TJ
