Bears are Hungry and Thirsty this Summer
tjhunt2 replied to lonne's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
Do you think if Julie was left in camp this would have happened? Then again you could not have left her behind. Thank god it all turned out alright. TJ -
This has become one of my favorite post. I just love watching you guys go at it. This is some fun entertainment. I would like to say I hope UofA goes all the way. I would have said the same thing if ASU was in it. GO ARIZONA! TJ

Loss of Bear Hunting Access Due To Extreme Fire Danger
tjhunt2 replied to lonne's topic in Black Bear or Grizzly Bear hunts
I thought that a person who had a drawn hunt tag was ok to hunt doing the closure. Maybe I read it wrong. I see the concern they have but most hunters who have drawn just want to get in there and hunt. I agree with kidso. If I had a tag I would continue to hunt the unit but would be carefull where I parked and would not bring attention to what I was doing. Is that wrong? You tell me. Just saying! TJ -
Continuous prayers for Allen, Bonnie, and Annie. May God comfort you all thru these trying times. TJ

That's ok. I know I have a bighorn tag coming that will make up for it. Good luck to you and Kathi on the hunt, TJ

I called Payson Ranger District today and they said all roads were closed north & south of the Control Rd. Does that mean you can't walk in? I didn't ask them this question. Does anyone know? TJ

Just found I was not drawn for goat. 3 bonus points here. Must be a sign I have a sheep tag for az. I can only wish! TJ

I would like to wish all you fathers a Happy Father's Day. How will you spend your Father's Day? Feel free to add pics or a tribute to your father here if you like. Peg and I are having my father over tonight for some grilled salmon. I have been very fortunate and blessed to have had a close relationship with my Dad. He brought me up hunting, fishing, and respecting the great outdoors. The memories we have made together will forever be etched in my mind. He has been my best friend along with being my best hunting & fishing partner. I could not have wished for a better father. Dad will turn 83 this year and I hope and pray I have many more memories to make along the way with him. I love you Dad and Happy Father's Day. Here are a few recent pics of Dad. Dad & I sharing a pheasant hunt Dad & Lexie dove hunting Dad's fish His last deer at age 80 Peg & I sharing a successful turkey hunt with Dad

I know alot of you are probably saying "another banquet?" There are alot of banquets and they all are for the good of our wildlife and I can't afford to attend them all either but this one, in my opinion, stands at the top of the pyramid and gets to my heart. OE4A offers outdoor experiences to young people diagnosed with life threatening illnesses, children of fallen heroes, and children with disabilities. Without the generous support of donors and volunteers this organization would not exist. Their banquets are a major fundraiser towards their mission. If you got the time to come out for a fun night of food and drinks I promise you will go home feeling good about the support you provided for these kids.

tjhunt2 replied to Jay Scott's topic in Jay Scott Outdoors/Colburn and Scott Outfitters
I've never fished the Roaring Fork but it's on my list of things to do. Beautiful looking river and great pictures as well. I bet that fawn was scared to death. Glad to see you didn't disturb it. Thanks for sharing with us. Looks like it was a bunch of fun. TJ -
I'ld say you had a good day. I would like to see that mule deer in August. Congrats on the finds. TJ

Wasn't able to see the video but would like to. Your blog said to copy and paste. I'm old school and have never done that before. Lacey is beautiful and congratulations to you and Brittany. TJ -
Now that you've decided not to change your setup, lots of practice and scouting is in order. Good advise from everyone however it might not be for you. I don't know any of my archer friends who shoot the same setup and they all like to argue their's are the best. Your setup sounds just right for you and it's all about being comfortable with what you shoot. Uping your poundage is good but don't take it to a point of feeling uncomfortable. Feeling comfortable will increse your confidence level which in turn will increase you odds of being successful. Practice your calling skills but just don't rely on it alone to be successful. Those who know me know my ability with close range. I'm just the opposite of the long range shooter's mentality you see on here. Not saying there's anything wrong with it, it's just not for me. When scouting, keep in mind where would be a good setup spot if an area seems to be heavily used, like a water hole, wallow, or trail crossing. Mix up the way you approach your hunt to increase your odds. My last 5 archery elk kills have been 13yrds or closer. Your wac'ems will work well. I've killed a few bulls with them and last year's cow with a swacker mechanical, which I said I would never use, and it did the job as well. I still lean towards fixed blades. If you were to sit a ground blind, which has become my favorite setup as of lately, a comfortable chair, patience, and last but not least scent control. I like the passion you show for hunting and can't wait to read your post after your hunt. Good luck and shoot straight. TJ

Congratulations on your places. Your work looks extremely good. I look forward to meeting you sometime and checking out your shop in Young. Thanks for sharing. The fox is awesome! TJ -
I have been putting cameras out for years and have never locked them. Anyone can and have looked at my sd cards. I have had one stolen over 15 years. I think that's pretty good. However, I suggest you lock yours up in anyway you can to prevent someone from walking off with it. Now that I've purchased more expensive cameras I will lock them. Your idea of hanging them up high is an excellent idea. You got to have a ladder or climbing stick to do so but the extra work will defiinitely help. Good luck keeping your cameras safe. TJ

Can't agree any more. Thoughts and prayers with your son and family as well. Please keep us updated on the results. God Bless! TJ
