Dillon's first taste of archery success, LBD!
tjhunt2 replied to gotcoues's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Thank you Justin for sharing Dillon's hunt. Dillon, I want to congratulate you on entering a group of hunters that call themselves bowhunters. I know friends twice, three, and four times your age who haven't accomplished what you just did. I'm so proud of you on your accomplishment young man. It helps to have a Dad like yours and a great friend like Tracey to mentor you but it was you and only you who kept the nerves together to pull that bow and make the perfect shot. WOW! I got cold chills reading your story and how you stuck in there after some other hunters showed up. Good things come to those who deserve it. I can't wait to shake your hand and personally congratulate you Dillon. TJ -
Great story and congratulations on a very nice bear. You must be in pretty good shape to have gotten her out by yourself. That's some hard work I know. Thanks for sharing with us. What a beauty. TJ

did you do the baseline test today? run 400 meters , 40 air squats, 30 situps,20 pushups, 10 pull ups all for time? Today our wod( workout of the day) was extreme 5 rounds for time; deadlift 225lbs 12 reps 20 pull ups clean and jerk 135lbs 12 reps knees to elbows 20 reps (while hanging from pull up bar) That is 100 pull ups, 60 deadlifts,60 clean and jerks,100 knees to elbows. all for time.ouch that was the rx weight, all movements and weights can be scaled if needed. My arms have been sore all day , not all of the wods are this difficult. stick with crossfit , after the first week the soreness wont be bad, the results are amazing That's nothing this 61 yr old could even think about but back in my day I would smoke that. For all of you that are working out and getting ready for the upcoming seasons I take my hat off to each of you. Keep up the good work. TJ

I think them are some good pictures for being a cell phone. That is a dandy bear for sure. They can cover alot of territory in a short period when they have made up their mind and you most likely will never catch up to them once they are on the move. Believe me on this one but be there the next day before daylight and you might pull it off. TJ

For those of you who think you can have your apple (or cob) and eat it too, you have another thing coming. Units 22 and 23 have already lost their December archery seasons in response to increased whitetail harvests. How much opportunity are you willing to sacrifice in order to maintain your use of bait? How big a fan of baiting would you be if you had to put in the draw for an archery deer tag and were limited to a single 14 day season? Think about it before you decide on this issue. If you decide you still want to defend the use bait, remember what you are likely giving up. Will it be worth it? Welcome to the site and thanks for taking the time to explain this baiting issue from a retired azgfd wildlife manager's view. I also respect your opinion and know you are an educated person with lots of knowledge on the baiting issue but I have to disagree with some of your thoughts as well. Sounds to me like you are trying to change a few of our minds by telling us we are going to give up way to much if we continue to fight the baiting issue. I have been baiting for quite a few years and have only shot 1 deer over bait so if it were to go away I would still be successful as I usually am but I'm here to stand up to fight them taking it away from us and won't let your opinion of us likely giving up and sacrificing what we have now. You are only assuming what will happen and you may be right but I'm standing my ground and will fight with those who don't want to see another law taking another method of hunting away that has been around forever. You say this is a stand-alone issue and trust you on this. I say it's just another win for the anti's if it happens and it's on to the next taking away of something else. I do respect your opinion Tonto Rim and thank you again for sharing with us and this is my opinion. TJ
