Thanks for all the kind words. Peg is loving her trailer and our first trip will be to Greer in a couple of weeks. Tracy......you wouldn't have been late and I remember you saying you were going to do that. Our anniversary isn't untill the 11th so I still have time to forget. lol TJ

Thanks Stanley! I actually have been working on making up for forgetting twice in the last 2 years by writing it down on every calendar I use. As much as I like coueswhitetail, it isn't going to be the reason I forget this year. Yes, I do blame Amanda's site for those two blunders. I actually was on site both times my wife ask if there was something I had forgotten and my answer was " I don't think so". Not the right answer! For starters I had a custom made fly rod made for Peg by a good friend of mine Annie Bounds of Canyon Angler Rods. Her husband is Ted Bounds, aka Jackshoe, on here. Stanley.......thanks for the reminder and thinking of my best interest. Gary...........I've never heard that one before and have to remember it for sure. TJ

I often wondered how many times a butcher ruined a blade do to this exact thing. It could be costly for sure. Thanks for sharing. TJ

Looks like where I'm going to draw my tag. I could only wish such a thing. TJ -
First of all I would like to thank the 8 men and women who attended tonight's open public meeting in Mesa on AZGFD's new Conceptual License/Tag Structure & Fees. The rest of the 31 in attendance were from azgfd. When I first heard of this fee increase I was outraged and furious and knew nothing was going to keep me from this meeting and expressing my opinion. After sitting and listening to what they had to say I actually liked some of their ideas on their new proposals along with fee increases. Now before you stone me to death I ask you to read thru it. I will tell you I did not like or agree with their Conceptual Tag Structure & Fees. The Premium Deer and Premium Elk Structure sucks in my opinion and I let them know how I actually felt. I also expressed my dislike on them wanting to increase our $7.50 application fee to $13. The premium elk tags would increase from our current $114 to $200 on all early sept & early oct rifle, muzzle loader, and archery hunts in every unit. The premium deer hunts would increase from our current $34.75 to $100. This would include all units above the big river along with all dec hunts in every unit of the state including all archery hunts as well. I know most of you are saying it doesn't matter what we say because they have made up their minds but I hope and encourage each of you would take the time to attend an upcoming meeting or email the azgfd with your comments. I know these meeting were a short notice and many of you couldn't possibly make it tonight. I would like to thank the azgfd for opening this up to the public tonight and for their patience in some of us expressing our dislike towards a few of their license/tag structure & fees. Thank you! TJ

Since I haven't camped in my cabin tent in several years I have no use for these two items. I had the stove custom made because I got tired of getting up twice a night to refuel the original stoves purchased for cabin tents. This baby is huge and will keep a fire all night long as long as you adjust the damper properly. It's one of a kind and a good conversation piece. It's a bit heavy and the reason for the handles on each side for carrying. The folding spring bed is a must for those comfortable nights after a hard day's hunt. I always used a mattress off the kid's bed to complete the setup. It beats any cot on the market for sure. You'll thank me a hundred times once you've slept on this. I bought this wheel back several years ago and never took it back after it didn't fit. I have no idea what it fits but the info is on the box and I'm sure one of you can figure it out. If you have any questions I can be reached at 480-833-1230 or my cell at 480-710-5702. I will donate part of the money to help out the cost of Amanda running this site. TJ $400.00 It's made for a 6" pipe. As you can see I have the damper and spark resistor. I do have 2 more pieces of pipe. The door opening is 13 1/2" x 9 1/2" The top plate measures 31" x 21" Inside depth is 20" It stands at 3ft with the 1" pip legs. You can put any length on it you like for your desire height. These handle are a must. $30.00 6' x 3' 3" It's in good shape Make me an offer Here is the information from the box. If for some reason the info is wrong I will give your money back.

I've sat on this for the last two weeks and thought I could get some answers from the group who I think is responsible for the littering of our forest 2 weeks ago on the 11th. The group in question is the Deer Valley Ward out of Phoenix. They were on a father/son outing the 10th & 11th of May. They were camped north of Payson up off the Control Road. Their father&son outing was located on the road leading to the Geronimo Boy Scout Ranch. On Saturday it sounded like WWII for most of the day. Now I know they have a right to shoot their guns where they were but on this day every camp site was full up and down the road from theirs. It was very annoying and I would have thought they would have had a little more consideration for all the campers around them. This area has become very popular for weekend campers and especially popular for the father/son outings. For those of you who are not familiar with father/son outings they are fathers of the Mormon church who bring their sons on an over night camp out. I'm not exactly sure what goes on at one of these but I assume it's bonding with their sons and sharing their religious thoughts and beliefs among themselves. I don't have a problem with this and actually think it's a good thing for the kids. I have seen many of these groups over the years and the kids always seem to have a good time. We actually had a group camp next to us, this same weekend, on Peg's turkey hunt and they even ask us if they could have our permission to camp by us and told us that there would be around 75 father and sons. Of course they didn't have to ask us, since we don't own the woods, but it was nice that they did and it showed the respect and consideration that we have witnessed from many of these group outing over the past several years. Now to get back why I'm posting this. With all the shooting going on our one dogs kept herself hidden all day behind the bed and our lab just wanted to run down to see where all the birds were falling. lol Well, they finally quit shooting a few hours before dark and headed home. Thank God the other campers and us had some peace and quiet. Up until now I'm not upset because I have come to expect the shooting from those who have no consideration for nearby campers. We pack up Sunday and head for home when I notice clay pigeons broke all over the ground where the Deer Valley Ward had camped. I parked the truck, walked down, and took several pictures of the mess they left behind. They did pick up their empty shot gun shells but left dozens of rifle casings, shot up pop cans, and I don't know how many broken clay pigeons all over their camp area, in Webber Creek, and on the banks of the creek. I've seen my share of garbage and trash left behind over the years but I can't imagine this coming from a father/son group. It's not a very good example to set for the kids. I have tried calling the number given for their church and even tried calling during church services with not luck. I'm 99% sure it was the Deer Valley Church but if I'm wrong I will be the first to apologies. If it was them I wanted to ask if they could possibly go clean it up. There are fines for littering the forest and it might even be a federal offence to litter a national forest stream. I know I could turn them in but I haven't got real good evidence except for pictures and I would rather give them the benefit of the doubt to clean it up themselves. First of all I don't want to come on cwt and sound like I'm bashing the Mormon church, in no way am I, but if you are part of the Deer Valley Ward or know any of them could you bring this to the attention of those responsible for their carelessness in keeping our forest clean for those who follow in their footsteps. Thank you! TJ Casings and clays everywhere. Kind of hard to see them in this pic. Picture doesn't show justice. These were across the creek from camp. These in the water really didn't set right with me. Left behind for others to pick up Really!!! I picked up several of these. This actually looks worse than the pic.

I'm not exactly sure but I have wrestled it in place a few time. That's why I had the handles welded on. I'm guessing not more than 50 lbs. I will weigh it the next chance I get to be sure. Should have already done that. Thanks for the reminder. TJ

You certainly have every right to be a proud dad and my congratulations to your beautiful daughter on her dog & pig. Sounds like you got a pretty good hunt partner for the rest of your life. Thanks for sharing. TJ

Just thought I would bring this back up since so many were gone over the Memorial Day weekend. This stove would be ideal for a big cabin tent, or a cabin porch heater. Make me an offer on any of these. TJ

That's a tough question James. Most of this state holds lions and if anyone knew for sure I doubt they would tell you. They would be there trying to call one in themselves. I've seen 13 total and most of them have been along the Apache Trail. It's a hit or miss game. You just have to be in the right place at the right time. A lot of the 23 unit you already hunt has a huge population of lions. I do wish you and your friend all the luck in the world. I can tell you, after shooting 3 of my own, it will happen when you least expect it so be ready on every stand you call from. Good luck my friend. TJ

Swhackers for bull elk? Updated testing..
tjhunt2 replied to TOBY's topic in Bows, arrows, broadheads
I bought some rage broad heads and after shooting them in my target the blades fell apart and I took them back. I have to agree with you on not using them for elk. TJ
