    clints bull

Good to see the pics on here. Talk about a small world, this is Eddie, one of the guys that helped out that night. By the way, that cherry cobbler was great!

    broadheads

I have had good luck with the Sonics. Two cow elk with no problems. Took out ribs on both and the heads showed no damage. Only problem was there was not much of a blood trail, although both animals went just 60 yards. Been looking for a better head though and I have the new Terminal locks on order. I'll let you know after the elk hunt how they do. Or with any luck at all, after the early archery deer hunt. Eddie

    Arrow help.

When I first got into archery the Cabelas arrows is what I used. I would recommend the Goldtip. I have been using the Goldtip pro hunters for the last 4 years, and they are one of the best in my opinion. The better quality arrow shows up in your practice shooting for some reason, whether they really are better (straightness factor) or not I don't know. Might just be a mental thing. The way I look at it is simple. Go low end on equipment and you always have that for an excuse for poor shots. Go high end and take the equipment out of the equation. Poor shot is then my fault. Hope that made sense. Get the best you can afford. I would go with goldtip over Cabelas.

    Unit 29 Dec. hunt

I see where access through the Oak Ranch has been locked off after all these years. Wonder what happened?? Oh well. There's still lots of other great places to hunt in 29.

    Arrow fletcher

I use the easyfletch and it works well with Blazers as well as other vanes. I just bought the Bohning tower fletcher thinking I would upgrade. Went back to the easyfletcher. The tower is for sale. I just don't like it.

    Arrow Weight

I would not change a thing. That set-up is more than plenty for elk. I shoot a 385 grain total weight arrow at 70 lbs. No problems on the last 2 elk hunts. Complete pass-throughs both years. My dilema for this year is picking the right broadhead. I used the 100 grain Sonic's the last 2 years without any problems, but would really like a little better blood trail. I'm thinking of trying Slicktriks or Wac'ems. Anything I can do to help you out, just shoot me a pm. Eddie
