I saw one yesterday on a red toyota on the loop 101 parking lot. I'm surprised with all the driving around I do that is the first one I've seen. Mike -
%$&^#$% Camera Thief
257wby replied to Big Browns's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Well the sob's strike again. They swiped my camera(canon digital and three lenses) this morning, the biggest problem is that it was sitting on the kitchen counter. Then they helped themselves to my laptop, my 32" LCD, ana finally, my 56" samsung. I guess I should feel lucky as the wife was not at home. They are not very smart thieves either since they left my 10x50 swaros and the $800 tucked underneath them. I hope the drug dealer they sell the stuff to just beats their a$$ for the heck of it. Thanks for letting me vent. Mike -
Welcome to the sight. What unit did you get drawn for? Good luck. Mike

Those are some fantastic bucks, congrats. Your taxidermist did a great job! Mike

Nice buck Jim. I'm not real good at judging either, but I'll guess around 104". Thanks for sharing!

Did that deer get a case of "mad cow disease" or what? Very funny video Tony, thanks for sharing. Mike

If the mulies are known as carp, I guess that would make the easterns known as flounders. Never hunted easterns before so I can't personally say how easy it is, but theymake it look about as easy catching fish at the trout farm. Mike

What bullet are you loading up and would you consider loading for others? Mike

I have recently bought a 257 weatherby and found that it shoots great, though i haven't hunted with it yet. Ammo is a little on the pricey side, so keep that in mind. Just a little info, hope it helps. Congrats on the new huntin partner. Mike

The wife and I were camping up by the Apache Maid Ranch this weekend to get out of the heat. Drove by Mormon Lake and saw a nice herd of elk. Used my binos to count 50-60 cows and calves, and 35-40 bulls just taking a break right in the middle of nothing. A couple of the bulls looked to be real nice 6x6s, I'd guess anywhere from 290-320. I was pretty surprised to see them in the middle of the day with the moon phase we have now. Sorry I didn't have my camera with me, but it was a good lookin herd. Is it huntin season yet? Mike

Has anyone been on Stoneman Lake Rd lately? It seems like it would be a nice shortcut to my camping spot in 5b south, but last time I was on it was along time ago and it was so rough. I'd rather not rattle every bolt outta my truck if I don't have to. Thanks. Mike

Thanks AG! Mike

I noticed my 300 Weatherby has a large build up of copper in the barrel, What products do you guys recommend for getting it cleaned out? Also, is there a lubricant to keep it from getting so bad other than cleaning between every few shots? Thanks Mike
