Great job! Nice buck.

I had it happen years ago with a ballistic tip. A friend hand loaded me some hot .300 mag rounds. I shot a doe pronghorn and hit her in the shoulder. Out of the corner of my eye I saw another antelope flinch and sure enough it was hit it too. I'm thankful that I had tags for both. I quit using those ballistic tips after that experience. I now use nosler partitions or hornady inner bonds.

We got in a couple of hunts in this year. This was my son's Luke's first elk hunt, as he just turned 12, the minimum age in Colorado for Big Game, in October. Luke was successful and killed his first elk. We tracked it down in the snow, spotted it before it spotted us and Luke shot it in its bed. Rangefinder said 209 yards. We had to watch her for almost an hour to finally decide the spike looking antlers above her head were sticks and not antlers. Great time together! While I was taking a photo of him another elk ran right by us and I was able to get her. The grace of God no doubt. Our other two hunting partners killed their elk too, so we went 4 for 4. Luke's elk. my elk. our hunting friends.

We have hunted by our cabin for a few years and thus far have struck out on deer. We usually get close to 450-500 inches of snow each year by the cabin and the deer do not stick around but Thankfully this year the snow held off and the deer stayed up by the cabin. What a blessing to have deer on the property to hunt, unlike most years when they have already moved to lower ground. It started to snow pretty good once we arrived and the deer started moving out but Praise The Lord we killed 3 bucks, including the first for my friend Scott. This is my daughter and son and my daughter's buck. Scott with his son and his buck. Me with my buck and my precious children, minus my older daughter who is in the first photo.
