You have my favorite hunt. Get out and drive Ruby and Tres bellottas roads and scout all of the side roads till you find something you like. It is difficult to give you the advice on where to hunt since I don?t know what type of terrain or vegetation that you like to hunt in, or how you hunt. Some people might like to hunt big mountains with big canyons, and others may like to hunt rolling hills. Some might like to hunt the thick oak and manzanita, and some may like open areas with ocotillo and mesquite. It all depends on your personal preference. Some people like to sit and glass while others hike for miles, or do a combination of both. The only thing that I can tell you is to get maps, and get out and drive and find where you can get into and where you can?t, access is a big issue. Find areas that look good to you that meet your hunting style. Getting into more difficult areas will usually mean fewer hunters to deal with. I believe deer can be found all over and most large canyons will have deer in them.

whats the funniest thing thats happened
Diamondbackaz replied to ultramag's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Here are a few stories of a friend that spends a lot of time outdoors. He is an avid rifle shooter, and likes to constantly handle his rifles all time. You can even say he fondles them he loves them so much. One day he pulls one out of the safe to play with it, pulls the bolt and shuts it. He squeezed the trigger and a large magnum muzzle blast made his ears ring like church bells, while the bullet left the room via through the wall to the front yard. He didn?t realize that he just jacked in a round that was in the magazine under the bolt. He forgot to unload the magazine the last time he used it. He looked and looked and couldn?t tell where it went. So he took a wooden dowel and stuck it in the hole in the wall. He line up his eye along the dowel and sees it pointing right at his Chevy suburban. There he notices a hole in the rear corner. The bullet went in the outer panel and hit the inner panel where the bullet disintegrated. Same guy different suburban He is out on a hunting trip with his dog sitting in the back seat of the suburban. As he is driving he feels a traveling companion banging on his back door making things uncomfortable. He decides it would be a good thing to let this companion out, and a good idea let the dog do his thing to. The both had a good little break and the dog got to run around so they hit the road again. As he is driving down the road, he kept smelling the aroma of his companion he just left behind. He looked around and realized the dog was breathing on him from the seat behind him. He grabbed the dog?s mouth and opened it up only to find his companion still traveling with them stuck to the top of the dog?s mouth. Same guy, different day I was with him out on an early morning dove hunt. The suns still down and it is only twilight and still kinda dark, the birds started to fly and the shooting began. Soon after it all started, I hear the bang of his shotgun loud and clear with the exception of one shot that went poomp. Ah bad load, so he pumped in another and started shooting again. I kept hearing him shoot and he started to cuss because he isn?t hitting anything. He shoots one more time and notices the muzzle flash coming from the side of his barrel. What the heck he says, and notices the barrel is bulged and split open. No one ever told he needed to clear a wad after a shell with no powder. -
meat processor in Flagstaff
Diamondbackaz replied to azhuntnut's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Take the money that you're going to pay a meat processor and buy an electric meat grinder and butcher your own. I butcher all of my game including four Elk. It isn't that hard and you get to cut the thing up exactly the way you want, and portion it up for freezing the way you want. I go to costco and buy the Zip lock 1 quart and 1 gallon freezer bags. Roll out the air out of the bag and it will do fine. You can buy a vacuum food storage system too. Once you start butchering your own, you probably will never use a processor again. -

10% cap coming back to AZ tags
Diamondbackaz replied to wklman's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
10% cap on each hunt number for all deer. That is cool. I will have to write USO a thank you letter for getting this all going. -
I'm not a religious type of guy even though my wife is. I have never taken offense to anyone's blessings, I look at it as an act of kindness. So go ahead and let your true feelings known.

Well you can go in from Mammoth over table mountain pass if you got a 4X4.

Hunting Vanity Plates
Diamondbackaz replied to grizzly's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I have COUESWT, there are only 5 plates with "coues" in it. Go to http://www.azdot.gov/mvd/PersonalizedPlate...arch_result.asp and do the partial search. You can use this to find what is already being used. Once you find something not being used, order your plates online. They arrive in two to three weeks. -
I have been using terra server for over a year now, but not anymore, that virtual earth is far better. You can use your mouse wheel to zoom in and out.

Heres a suggeestion?? This has to do with the main page though. The rifle photo gallery is getting huge, how about dividing pictures in the rifle area by hunt unit??

SP 10 is the Remingtons 10 gauge auto, strickly a waterfowler or turkey. Here is a link to Benelli prices for an example. That super black eagle looks like a nice gun. http://www.ableammo.com/mall/guns_shotgun_...ck_eagle_ii.asp The 1187' are about $700 to $800. Link http://www.davidsonsinc.com/consumers/subs...b1.x=42&b1.y=11

The 1187 can take light 2 3/4 target loads to 3" magnum loads and will take pheasant easily. Thats what separates this gun from the 1100 becuse it has a gas compenstation to allow different types of loads. If I was a goose hunter I would blast them with an SP 10. Heres another reason to stay with the Remington, they will continue to make this gun for years to come. Parts will always be available. The Benelli, who knows.

I've had 2 1187's and an 1100, and I wouldn't consider changing to anything else. Just got my daughter a 20 ga. 1187 last week. Just don't get the 1187 magnum, the 3 1/2" mag. The guys on the duck forums have not given good reviews on that one.

Why carry a pistol when you are holding a high powered rifle?? I guess if you are bow hunting I see a problem since you can't carry any fire arm. I am not worried about the hunting part, I am worried about the camping part, the pistol would be good to have under the pillow...Most of these people will leave you alone including the smuglers since they don't like attracting attention to themselves.
