GAME AND FISH TO CHANGE HUNT STRUCTURES
Diamondbackaz replied to bowhuntinmaniac's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
Commissioners are appointed by governors, but for staggered five year terms. This means a commission may consist of commissioners appointed by three different governors. State law requires that no more than three of the five commissioners are of the same political party, and that they be "knowledgeable" about Arizona's wildlife and fish. Tradition calls for them to come from different regions around the state. This system keeps partisan politics out of wildlife decisions, and keeps the panel from reinventing the wheel every couple of years. On the other hand, electing commissioners in a general election would bring partisan politics into the mix. Do you want a state political party boss setting seasons by threatening to pull support from a political hack? Do you want the Legislature to set our seasons and bag limits? Do you want PETA and similar groups making big political donations to elect their own commissioners? Do you really think that the majority of the people in this state would vote to keep a sportsman-dominated comimission? Be careful of what you wish for because you may get it. Getting tougher to find wildlife managers

When was the last time anyone see a Game wardon get killed in the line of duty? I would consider this job safer than a highway patrolman or sheriff deputy. -
Much of the Oracle Ridge Trail around the Rice Peak area is moon scape from the Fire, and that particular part of the trail is also a road.

I'm ok with a 10 day October season since a 4 day season can be wiped out by bad weather. A 10 day season gives you another weekend to hunt
-
I read the same thing on the ten day hunt. Would make a October hunt more attractive to a few.

Leupold VX-III help with a decision

Everything I have ever read is, the larger the objective, the more light gathering power it has. Tube size shouldn't mater since the light at some place is brought to a focal point and doesn't travel straight in the tube. -
I would put a complaint in writing and send it in to the the directors office. Hope you got the guys name.

Lots of Forest service and state land in this unit and most of it accessable. Try Redington pass, Italian trap area.

Heres the scoop for Forest service. It use to be up to the individual forest on making their own rules. However that has changed. New National guidlines coming down, see: http://www.fs.fed.us/news/2005/releases/11...anagement.shtml -

Seen the fee proposals for 2006?
Diamondbackaz replied to DesertBull's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
DCM, you are not spending much on hunting now since most of your money is being sent back to you since you are not getting drawn for those early bull and Kaibab hunts. Some of the early bull elk hunts and Kaibab hunts are considered by many to be once in a life time hunt. Hunting only comes once a year for a few weeks. I consider the value of a deer tag has gone up significantly sine you have a lot more people putting in for less tags. -
Send me the tickets and you go hunting, sounds like a plan

Yes , that would be my truck. I also have N4COUES on my wrangler.

Looks like I stirred up the pot here a little, Desertbull, I agree lower demand hunts such as limited opportunity should have a lower tag price. Ernesto, I'm not a rich man either being a high school shop teacher. Nor do I play golf, just look how far off the price I was. I do like paying more money on things because quality has always served me well over being cheap. I know I'm not the only Swaro owner here. Recurvman, do you really feel the new prices are extreme? I don't ever see the prices being extreme as both the game and fish and state legislature still need the common man to keep them going. Application fees should only be used for the cost of processing applications and nothing else. I find your suggestion at raising this fee more punitive to poor people since none of it is refunded even when not drawn. 105coues, I was using $50 as an example to as a comparative cost to other things. A premium class A tag is $84.75 and the class B is $34.75. I don't find either price out of line. I know you added in a price of a license, but I use the thing for other types of hunts.
