    Coues or Muley?

At first glance I thought it was pretty obvious that the deer in question was a mule deer, but now I am not sure. What do you guys think. The wide buck is for sure coues by the looks of his tail. The other one (tall one in front) is the one I am not sure on. Never get a great shot of his tail so I can't tell. His eye guards, or lack there of screams mule deer to me. Would a coues and muley run around together like this? I think mule deer but hey what do I know.
  6. So I have never hunted for bear before. I plan on buying a tag for the upcoming season on the 10th. I have a couple questions for you more experienced than me. We have been getting numerous bears on our cameras in years past (when scouting for elk) and one came in on my dad sitting a tank during elk season last year. So I know there are numerous bears in the area but don't necessarily have a great plan of attack. Ideally I would like to try calling, since I know bears are in the area. When calling, are electronic calls allowed? Even if they are, am I better off with hand calls? Any sound/call recommendations? I was thinking fawn in distress (high population of deer in the area) or rabbit distress? Also, how long of calling sequences do you guys call for? Do you call the entire time? How long do you stay in one spot calling?. I've seen recently some members have had success calling so it seems a good way to start. When sitting water, is there a prime time? The usual morning/evening? Or do bears like afternoon drinks? Sitting and glassing is out, due to the terrain (too dense) so I assume my only other option is to stumble across one while hiking. Anyways sorry for the ignorant questions, just don't have much experience at all with bears. Would love to hear what has worked for you in the past. Thanks for any input!

whats the best flashlight to carry in your pack

Check out solarforce flashlights... I will never buy another brand. Used to use Surefire. These use rechargeable 18650 batteries so you never need to buy batteries again. They have great runtimes and amazing output. You can change the dropins depending on your needs and you can get flashlight, 2 batteries, charger and case for about 60$ shipped. The dropins they are putting in the lights are 980 lumens

    Coues or Muley?

Thanks for the responses.. Yes they will definitely be nice, as well as the others that showed up on the cam are in this area. Excited to see what this buck looks like now. Thanks for the clarification. I don't know why, his rack just didn't look like a typical coues to me.

    Eberlestock Tail Hook Back Pack

Used Eberlestock Tail Hook back pack. In good condition. Getting rid of because I have too many backpacks and this one is not getting the use it deserves. Great pack, just used it for one season and then switched to a little bigger pack. This is a great day pack/archery pack. Smaller of the Eberlestock backpacks so good for day trips. Has straps that let you wrap it around tree while in a treestand. Pack is in good condition. No blood on it anywhere. Only signs of real wear are a few small spots where tree sap dripped onto the pack. Those marks are shown in pictures. Cosmetic only. First location of sap is on lumbar pad on lower back (dark little spots). Second spot is on the right shoulder strap. These spots are actually hidden underneath neck padding. Overall great backpack, just looking for a larger pack that I can haul meat with. $100
