  1. If you're looking for opportunity try it. Archery only gets 50 apps each year. But it only has that few applying for a reason so keep that in mind. If you're a nonres then to draw the archery tag you need max points I believe because there is just 3 permits. Lots of country for them to live in up there. Never seen any there but I never really tried to find them either

But if you're gonna wait super long for a tag. Max your chances at a harvest with going for a rifle tag. Cant imagine putting in for 15 plus years and not being able to fill my tag because it was just out of your bows limited range

5 or 6 years ago my kids & I were applying for a leftover deer tag.  A week after the draw we got two of the 3 unopened envelopes back stamped saying we weren't drawn, but not the third.  The portal never showed anything throughout the leftover tag process btw.

I called the G&F and they wouldn't tell me anything either (said they didn't know).  2 weeks later, still no 3rd envelope back (with a money order in it), & the G&F wouldn't tell me anything saying that they didn't know what happened.  A week later my daughter got that tag in the mail...

    Nothing surprises me any more...

That's ridiculous. I'm sorry about that

Anyone showing leftover tags in their portal yet?

How do I change my password in my portal? I cant get in since they changed the whole system and I dont wanna wait on hold for a long time. Is there a different way to do that?

Last year I took mine to the Anthem PO to be top of the pile. They said everything goes to the main Phoenix location for sorting then out to wherever it's going so

it doesn't matter where you drop it off in the Phoenix metro area. I made the drive from Mesa for nothing.

Very true. But the PO box that I mailed it to was located in that post office though. But I'll take that into consideration for the leftover deer tags (if any)

I ended up sending it priority through usps, and the tracking number was an added benefit. I dropped it off at the post office on Saturday at noon, and asked how I could get it there by Monday. I live in Chandler and the options were pay priority and maybe get it there in time, or pay expedited which was guaranteed but $30. I guess covid has delayed there delivery times, but I gambled with priority. G&F really gave us the pickle

That makes sense. If you wanna save some money next time go take it to the anthem post office. Right by the carefree G&F office

Does anyone know when the loyalty points are supposed to hit? This was year 5 for both elk and antelope for me and neither have the loyalty point. Currently showing 6 (5 + hunter ed). I should have 7 heading into the next draw... correct?

As long as you did elk and pronghorn 5 years in a row they'll go in by next draw. I didnt see my deer loyalty hit until I actually put in during last years draw. But everyone's BP's are mixed up now so maybe you'll see it sooner!

I think you are fine. I applied as well, but sent it to the address that they listed for left over tags. I got a notification that my letter was picked up this morning. I am guessing they pick up mail from the address and PO Box at the same time

How did you get a notification? Or did you call them?

  8. So I sent in the application a few days ago for a leftover elk tag, and last night I was on G&F website reading. On their website the article said to send it to their Carefree office, while on the app it says to send it to a PO box near their office. Does it really matter? Or am I just worried for no reason?

  9. Man I feel terrible for you guys. I was just looking into the draw odds and it is stupid that a 0 point person has almost the same chance as a 15-20 point person. Depending on hunt type and unit.

Kinda makes me wish that the BP system would square the points. I feel like a lot of the time more people with few points draw more often than those with 20. I'm not sure of the real stats but I kinda see that trend from each year of pronghorn hunts

Got hit for elk. Possibly my last AZ elk hunt for awhile as we are planning on moving early next year. Using a rifle this time.

Look into a lifetime license. You still have same odds as a res if you do move. BUT you still gotta pay Nonres prices

  11. I haven't done mail in for awhile. Do I just print the form from home or should I go pick on up from G&F like they used to have with the blue envelopes?

Also do I need to send a check or am I able to put in my card details somewhere on this app?

Ok cutting tags has helped.  But you are telling me no cams hasn’t helped?  Be honest.
I have hunted 10 for 20+ years it had cameras everywhere.  Not anymore(big bo)
What happened to unit 9? Its not what it was 20 years ago.  Maybe trail cams?

A lot has changed since then. And that is all I hear about for every unit in the state too. That it used to be so much better. Quite a lot has changed since then. We have much mor research at our own finger tips, more atv's/ 4x4 capabilities, more roads, and more people in general. A whole lot has changed since. Yes cams do affect that a bit. I wont act like it doesnt but a ban wouldnt really change things that much. I think itll lead to more human traffic at water holes or in hunting areas due to no cams

Honestly, very mixed feelings by all I've talked to who's prepared and ate it. We roasted one whole while out there and it was pretty good. Some parts were a little stringy but I bet with a little love would make some good pulled pork sandwiches. I made a mess of breakfast sausage so we shall see. Good luck to you in the draw young man!PXL_20210307_212720589.thumb.jpg.c93c46ccef1886eea6e0f7f0d18bcc0c.jpg

Thank you sir! Same to you!
