Glad you guys had some luck at Bartlett! Regarding the deep holes vs. shallow waters, I've had luck either way (depending on the day/time/etc..). I've caught big flatheads in the Bartlett Flats area in the past, generally at night. Seems like sometimes the big cats will come into the shallows to chase shad/bluegills. Regarding up-stream access, there was a road we used to take that would head down a wash to the Verde and it would put us on the river just a few hundred yards from where the lake starts (depending on water level of the lake....). Do a Google Earch search, and you might be able to find it. We would night fish that spot sometimes and had some luck. S.

Kids and I do an annual fishing/camping trip to Southern Utah. We did the Boulder Mt. area a couple of years and had a blast. Amazing country up there. This pic makes me want to go back! Thanks for sharing! S.

Yep, loading-up trucks of copper and hauling them away from ASARCO for sale. To the tune of $10MM! I went to high school in Kearny with a guy named Joe Arbizu. Not sure if it's the same one.... S.

VERY awesome!!!!! Some day I'll go on another lion hunt! I've only got a small taste (one day.....), but it was an amazing hunting experience! Thanks for sharing! S.

My gosh! There is a big ol' muley buck under almost every bush up there!!! S.

Yep, those guys had quite a little racket going..... Regarding China/India, they have definitely been buying a lot more in recent years, but not necessarily 'most'. S.

Awesome Josh!! What a beautiful bull and mount! How about a field pic too?? S. PS: That does NOT look like a hunting show on the flatscreen!

VERY awesome post! Each one of the pictures are great in several ways! Love that 'chaise-lounge' and old-school Coleman lantern in the first pic! Baby in the tub speaks for it's self! Then of course, the kids taking part in endless hours of target shooting is GREAT! As soon as I find time, I'll jump-in with a couple of pics of my own..... Thanks for sharing! S.

Eberlestock X3 review by Santana Outdoors
stanley replied to Santana Outdoors's topic in Other Hunting Gear
Nice job on the review. I'm a big fan of Eberlestock packs, and own the X1A1 plus one of the J34s (Just One). I like the looks of that wider scabard on the X3. Thanks for sharing! S.- 2 replies

I've had luck with Kastmasters on the beach along Las Conchas. I would wade-out as far as I could at the lowest-tide, then wade/fish (waste-deep water or more) casting Kastmasters as far out as I could as the tide slowly came-in. I was using 6lb test and a pretty good sized Kastmaster on an open/spinning reel so I could get them WAY out there! When the fishing was hot I would get a nice one on (Corvina, Trigger, etc...) on almost every cast. Lots of fun! Good luck! S. PS: Watch-out for the Stingrays. One of them nailed me on the ankle and I paid dearly for it.....

Just digging into work this morning, and a reminder popped-up in my Outlook calendar that said "post a reminder to TJ so there is no repeat of last year"! I put it on my calendar about a year ago based on a thread you posted. Seems to me that you forgot a VERY special occasion last year, so here is a friendly reminder! S.

You're GOOD folks TJ & Peg!!! Sincere congrats and happy wishes to you both! S.

that's funny right there......I was thinking about that the other day when I was driving... LOL! so does he still get credit when you had to remind him?? LOL! and by the way.... he forgot 2 years in a row!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! James Yep! Actually now that I think about it, shouldn't TJ have an Outlook calendar too? Couldn't he just post his own reminder to himself? To your point though, maybe TJ owes me some kind of commission? S.

If I was going to the Salt for catfish, that's the spot I would go to. Muddy Banks / Diversion area....... A well known 'not so secret' honey hole for cats! We used to go there tons when I was in high school, and always had a blast. The problem at that location could be your buddy's hip though. It's about 90% river-rock and soft sand. I've been to Bartlett a couple of times for cats, and we did pretty good. Plus at Bartlett you there are many places that you can drive right to the water. Depending on your friend's condition, that might be something for you to check-out. Good luck! S.
