Yes, getting info from WMAT can be tough. Thanks for posting, Doug. I think your info about Hawley and the other more accessible waters is accurate. I was part of a big group of guys that had reserved all of the permits for Christmas Tree this Saturday. We're of course now going to plan 'B'. S.

š A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE NRA Dismayed by the lack of marksmanship shown by their troops, Union veterans Col. William C. Church and Gen. George Wingate formed the National Rifle Association in 1871. The primary goal of the association would be to "promote and encourage rifle shooting on a scientific basis," according to a magazine editorial written by Church. After being granted a charter by the state of New York on November 17, 1871, the NRA was founded. Civil War Gen. Ambrose Burnside, who was also the former governor of Rhode Island and a U.S. senator, became the fledgling NRA's first president. An important facet of the NRA's creation was the development of a practice ground. In 1872, with financial help from New York State, a site on Long Island, the Creed Farm, was purchased for the purpose of building a rifle range. Named Creedmoor, the range opened a year later, and it was there that the first annual matches were held.

Yikes! That's the Ray pit, right?? My stomping grounds growing-up. Looks like the Pinals are going to burn.

No, didn't give up. My tact just isn't that 'speculative'. (Though I guess ALL stock market purchases are speculative by nature.....). I just bought low earlier in the year when it was in the toilet, and it's tucked into my portfolio with all of the other paper to just sort of sit there. Don't plan on selling, buying, selling, buying, etc.. Don't have the time or emotional energy to chase all of that up and down. LOL I used to play around with stocks much more. I realized though that simply trying to buy on the dips and sell on the peaks didn't work for me over time when the market in general continued to grow year after year. Took-up too much brain power to try to pretend I knew more than I knew. Sort of like several other parts of my life. lol If I want to tend to my gambling bug, I'll sit down at the blackjack table with a $1000 in chips and feel like a winner if I can make it last for 5 hours while splitting a few eights & aces along the way!

Iāll stick with blackjack to get my gambling bug fix. š¤£

Hey, now.... Why calling me out? I'm right here. (Always lurking.... š) Never called you crazy, did I? Just said based on the company's history I couldn't see it going 5 digits. Also specifically said that I wasn't saying it wouldn't happen. LOL (Also said I bought in several months ago VERY low and am holding.... Not necessarily holding for a certain price, simply holding because it was a good chance to buy some stock to add to my portfolio at a super low price. )

A bunch of buddies and I have Christmas Tree lake permits in a couple of weeks. We're looking at camping options, and trying to decide if we want to camp on NF land or stay on the reservation. Has anyone been to the North Fork area lately? Specifically, just after you take the Hawley Lake turn-off from the 260, there used to be camping available up & down the North Fork as soon as you cross over the bridge over the river. Does anyone know if there is still camping along that stretch of the river?? (I tried the Apache G&F, but was not able to get anyone on the phone, so thought I would try here....) PM me if you prefer. Thanks in advance!! S.

Love to fly fish, though it tapered off a bit while my kids were younger and learning (easier to start them on worms/spinning-lures....). Some buddies and I purchased all of the permits for Christmas Tree lake in a couple of weeks. Can't wait to spend the day floating & casting for those trout. Also greatly enjoy pulling streamers for smallmouth on the Black River on occasion. Good fun!

BTW, pre-market currently shows AMC up 20%, but we'll see if the rally prediction holds until the end of the day.

Yes, NYSE and NASDAQ are both closed on national holidays. These days though, there is āafter hoursā trading, plus there are the international markets doing business. Depending on the particular company, stock can often be purchased on more than one exchange.

Three bears is awesome!!! I have used Jim at Southwest Wildlife Taxidermy, and have been very happy! (Plus, heās a site sponsorā¦)

Eh, I donāt really see it that way. āPrice gougingā is generally a term that applies when prices are jacked-up on goods/services that folks really NEED. I see the latest guns & ammo prices more in terms of a free market and capitalism at work. Demand far exceeding supply driving sky high prices. š

For me, that MarketWatch article really doesn't say anything new. Simply reports what everyone (or at least anyone who is paying attention) already knows; That the Reddit army and 'retail' sales are in large part driving the run. My motivation for buying was simply that the stock was in the toilet and would likely come back to where it historically performed. Lots of 'COVID bargains' out there. LOL That being said, yup, if folks are on the fence then ANY/ALL info they can find is good prior to pulling the trigger.
-
BTW, I am NOT saying it won't happen. Just saying that the company's financials and history don't support it in any way.
-
LOL You mean the Reddit 'apes'?? The ones hyping stocks on Reddit??? Yes, I am familiar. Basically a bunch of dudes sharing info, opinions, and hyping investment decisions on Reddit..... So are you saying THAT is your source for predicting '5 digits'??? Ummm..... Good luck.
-
Like a lot of folks, yes, I got into it several months ago when it was much lower. Been watching & holding. That being said, I'm genuinely curious, who is "they" that are saying '5 digit a share' is possible??? It has historically NEVER been even close to that high. That prediction makes zero sense based on their historical financial and sales performance. Assuming whoever 'they' is are basing that only on fever speculation and not the company's financials??? Your source??

Good info, Dan! I was pondering heading back up to the Black River next week. I'm guessing at this point, the reservation and national forest will likely VERY soon be under severe restrictions (and possibly closed) until we get some decent monsoon moisture. IF, we get it this year....

I won't be up there, but good luck, Doug! Hope the 'flatlanders' show-up, and that business is good!

Info Desire: AZ G&F Cannot Charge CC Upfront For Tags
stanley replied to HuntHike61's topic in The Campfire
For sure, I suspect that application numbers would drop. Likely significantly for non-residents. There has been lots of debate on this topic over the years. I'm very curious who "seemed to be in charge" really was, and whether their info is accurate. Only asking because the word on not charging up front previously was attributed to the reason(s) mentioned before (laws/rules, as opposed to an administrative decision by the G&F...). -

Don't disagree with you there. I was specifically questioning how tag sales would be impacted. -

I'm not following your reasoning regarding tag sales dropping dramatically?? I'm thinking that whether they charge up front (and refund those not drawn) or not, that they still will basically allocate/sell the same number of tags each year. -
OUTSTANDING!!!! Congrats on a great hunt and special time with your dad!!! Special times!!!

OUTSTANDING!!! Nothing in the world like hunting with your kids!! S.

Sorry, not familiar with any spots that have a cable-basket crossing set-up. The road conditions that got you there sound like several access points I've encountered over the years, though! lol Sure wish I would have been exploring the Black river all those years ago!
