    Gett'n old

I run 2-3 times per week, year round. Might crank it up a month or so prior to a big hunt. Other than that, my life/work/kids/hobbies take up too much time to do much else. S.

    Your fav Rifle

Well, I guess I'm still kind of looking for my favorite rifle...... I started off with a 30-30 in high-school, then picked-up a .308 while in college. I've been using a .7MM BAR for the past 15 years or so. I like it OK, but really think I'd like to go with a bolt action. A buddy has an .280 M77 that I've always kind of liked. I might have to pick one of those up & try it for a few years. My dad also has a BDL .7MM that I like, and I think he's going to had it over to me pretty soon. You can never have too many favorite rifles, as far as I'm concerned. S.
  3. Cool! I found the house I grew-up in, and a couple of my favorite quail spots as well... Thanks for sharing. S.

    2005 Fall Regs

Thanks for coming to the meeting Lee. It was a pleasure to meet you as well. Also, thanks for 'spreading the word' about the ADA..... We REALLY want to represent as many deer hunters in the state as possible, but without folks joining the meetings & voicing their opinions, we can't be sure we are heading in the right direction. It truly helps to have new folks who are willing to through their $.02 in to keep things fresh. I hope that we'll see you (and maybe a few of your buddies...) at one or more of our projects this year! ;-) Thanks again! S.

    95" COUES BUCK

Good deal TREESTANDMAN! Glad you have the shed to go with your pics. Nice of you to publicly recognize Josh on this as well. Kudos to you Josh, for showing this common courtesy & respect to your host. Too often, an offer to join someone in a 'secret hidey hole' is paid back with greed & dis-respect. We all have stories of sharing information, only to have the recipient either tell someone else about the spot, or just utilize it themselves with no regard for the original 'finder'. Nice example for the rest of us to follow for sure Josh..... S.

    Oct hunt in 23?

Interesting thread indeed; http://www.coueswhitetail.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1243&hl=dan+caputo Looks like the majority of the feedback on the 6A proposal was positive earlier in the year. Well I guess I support opening it for coues in October, as long as they reduce the number of tags in December to compensate. S.

    any body been out fishin

Hey Bret! You're my idol!!!!!! As I'm stuck here at the office (or worse yet, in NYC 1/2 the time....), you're out there getting it done! I can't wait to get out there after some of those cats!!!!!! Chris, I fully echo wetmule's response to your post. That is some seriously scary 'you know what'!!!!! I was wading & surf casting in Puerto Penasco last month, and got nailed by a sting ray. Hurt like heck, and I thought it was some pretty bad _ss stuff!! Now I know that was total child's play! YIKES!! I'm getting-up to the white mountains for a 4 days next weekend. I can hardly wait!!! S.

    Oct hunt in 23?

Didn't some guy come on here (or one of the other sites...) and ask for feedback on this topic several months ago? I swear I remember a WM coming on here and asking hunters what they thought of this potential move. Does anyone else remember that post? I forget what the overall sentiment was.... S.

    Sucess Spring Turkey

Congrats on the unit 23 birds Avion! Can't wait for the pics! We got into them in 23, but the birds we were into seemed to be sticking close to their hens.... We had a VERY sloppy ride out on Sunday morning as well. We'll be heading back up in a couple of weeks. S.

    Sucess Spring Turkey

Awesome job on the turkey!!! My boy and I were out in unit 23 (shotguns, not bows...) on his first turkey hunt this past weekend. We didn't get one, but had quite an adventure none the less. I went on my first spring turkey hunt last year, and I agree that it is a blast!!!! Hopefully some day I'll be accomplished enough with stick & string to try one with my bow... S.

    05 Turkey pic

Nice pic Scott! My 10 year old and I are heading up to unit 23 this weekend to hunt. I can't wait!!! His first turkey hunt, and only my second..... We're heading-up to the same place my buddy took us to last year (he's coming along to call too), so hopefully we get into them. Hopefully I'll have a story & pics by next week. S.

    ADA banquet

    Spring turkey tags?

My 10 year old boy and I both have unit 23 spring turkey tags. I'm quite a novice as I only went on my first spring hunt last year, but I've got a couple of experienced buddies coming along to call for us. I can't wait to get my little one out there!!! Good luck to all with tags! S.

    Trash Cleanup Success

Dave, it was nice to see you down there again. This thing has really gotten BIG in a short time, hasn't it? Kudos to those that showed-up to support this! It was great a time, for an excellent cause. Good job to Lance, Bobby Boido, and Gabe Paz for leading the charge! Truly, more folks aught to try to join-in next year though. C'mon down and camp-out for a night. What a great time it was to share a camp fire & meet new folks. You wouldn't have believed the great food in the camp as well. Nothing like getting a bunch of folks who like to cook & eat together!!! Elk chili, green chili?s roasted on the mesquite fire, huge rib-eye steaks, beans slow-cooked all day long, fresh peach AND berry cobbler done in the Dutch oven, fried potatoes, grilled pork chops, the list goes on & on.... Oh, and of course some awesome menudo on Sunday morning! Lance, my two little ones had a great time running around with Cole. You should have been there Saturday night. Gabe and his buddies had me laughing so hard, I about busted a gut! We'll see everyone next year! S.
  22. Hello Fellow AZ Residents: Jim and Darla Soloman of Outdoors Arizona (www.outdoorsaz.com) are putting together an event next weekend (3/11-3/13) called the Ultimate Outdoor Experience. The event will be held at West World in Scottsdale. It is an interactive show that allows folks to try-out various types of hiking, biking, camping, hunting, and fishing equipment. In support of this event, the Junior Arizona Deer Association has been approached with a plea for help from Daisy Outdoor Products (you know, as in BB guns....), and I'm hoping to round-up some support! Daisy is sponsoring a 10 lane air rifle range set-up and they are in need of volunteers to help man the shooting lanes & supervise the little ones over the weekend. This event will provide the little ones the opportunity to have a great time trying-out the Daisy products. Keep in mind that this may be the ONLY chance that some of these youngsters will get to try out a BB/pellet gun! YOU could play a pivotal role in turning a youngster on to shooting sports!!! The hours for the Outdoors Show are from 10-6 on Fri & Sat, and from 10-4 on Sunday, and we will need at least 5-10 people there at all times (one supervisor for each two lanes...). Mature teens are also welcome to volunteer! If you can spare ANY time next weekend, please let me know as soon as possible! I need to get back and tell them if we have enough volunteers ASAP. Please PM me or e-mail me at stan.johnsen@aexp.com if you can help. I know that this is short notice, but please consider making some time to help me make this happen!!!! Any help is appreciated, and you DON'T need to be an ADA member!!! IT'S FOR THE KIDS!!! Thanks in advance! HELP.........

Good point on the misc. help for the banquet & other activies Kevin! Muskrat, it sounds like you've already got the wheels in motion.... Thanks for jumping-in. Soon we'll be planning our youth activities for this summer and fall. I'll be sure to post the schedule of events, and if you could attend any of them and write-up a story for our newsletter, that would be great! We're going to plan some good stuff for the kids this year! ;-) S.

    HELP.........

PS Muskrat.... I just noticed your job title on your signature. Freelance writer? How about you join us for one (or more...) of the projects or events, and then write a story-up for our publication? That would be a great way to get involved in the organization, and help-out where your skills would be truly appreciated. Either that, or just write-up an independent hunting article for our quarterly ADA publication (THE DEER TIMES). We can always use good material for the publication! Just a though.... S.
