I hunt down that way most years of late, and I've not had any personal run-ins (not to say they don't happen..). Sounds like you're doing your homework. If you've already scouted and found some nice bucks, then you're WAY ahead of the average Joe out there. Maybe when Younghunter returns from his elk hunt he'll chime-in. Good luck! As Amanda had posted a couple of weeks ago, on the weekend of Sept 8 & 9 the Arizona Deer Association sponsored a Hunter Education weekend. The class was held at a vacation ranch in the Verde Valley area that was GENEROUSLY donated by the owners for the event. We had close to 2 dozen kids & parents go through the course. Everyone learned a lot and had a great time. My son Nicholas just turned 10 so we went through the class together (third time for me... ). Anyway, I thought that I would share some pictures of the event.... Regards all, S. Getting valuable instruction on the various types of rifles/shotguns! Beautiful classroom setting, huh?? Swimming & fishing in the ranch pond at the end of the first day. Lots of fun!!! Instruction at the range on Day Two. My boy Nicholas, getting his turn on the .300 WSM! The whole group with instructors upon graduation!

Yea, I've of course considered that Keven.... I'm thinking of getting certified as an instructor sometime in the next year or so. I really like working with the kids, and that would just be another excuse. Maybe I'll see you and your little one in class in a few years. S.

I own the 'Just One' (J104) and I LOVE it. Tons of space, comfortable, rifle scabbard (sp), and with the supplemental addition you will have all of the capacity you will ever need. 'Just One' is right.... S.

Hey Amanda, hopefully I'll see you there. Both boys have football practice tomorrow night, and Tracy will be out of town on business. Might be hard to juggle, but maybe Greta and I will swing by while the boys are practicing.... Hopefully I'll run into you. We had a good Hunter Ed class this past weekend with Bill, Woody, Larry, etc.. I'll post pics and a summary soon. S.

My son has an early rifle tag in NM this year. I think I'm going to make him wear a blindfold to even-up the odds..... On a serious note though, we can't wait for his hunt. Keep those bugling reports coming!!!! S.

Seriously though; I'm just a Hack trying to enjoy as much time in the outdoors as possible while at the same time trying to spend as much time as I can with my family. Trail cams??????? WAY too much effort for what I'm after. I find what I'm after each and every season; Outdoors, Family, Peace, Memories, Life, Love, etc.... No trail cam is going to get me those things. S. PS: If anyone has a trail cam set-up in NM34 for my boy's Junior elk tag in a few weeks, I'll pay good money!!!!!

Nobody, I just used the automated system. Dial 602-942-3000, then press 2. Then just follow the prompts. You'll need your sportsmans ID number (SS number in most cases...), as well as your DOB. Good luck! S.

I just called as well, and the status was 'drawn' for both myself and my son. The website still has the results from the original draw however. Not quite sure what to think at this point, but it might be looking good. Hey Jeff, if the results are 'real' then Erik has the same 36A youth tag and I'll have the early whitetail hunt in the same unit. How about you and the boy? Any luck? S.
