Jr. Javelina Hunt 2007
stanley replied to stanley's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Thanks for all of the nice comments folks. I sure treasure the times out with the kids.... Good luck in the elk & goat draws all! S. -
Well, I had another great weekend with the kids! Some of you may have already seen this on Terry's board.... Started-out by heading-up to 20C for the Jr. Javelina hunt onThursday evening. We camped at the ADA Camp, and once again were treated to great hospitality & generosity through-out our hunt! We owe HUGE props to the helpers at the ADA camp for the help in the area (one helper in particular who helped us 'scout/glass' this pig will remain nameless/faceless since I don't have his permission to post). Anyway, we had a good time glassing on Friday morning and one of our friends spotted a heard at 600 yds or so. We got down to them but lost them in the big boulders & brush. It is AMAZING how those things can become invisible in those granite boulders & thick brush! Anyway, we finally bumped them after moving slowly with the wind in our favor. They weren't holding still too well as they were nervously moving away, but our 'helper' woofed a bit and that slowed the last few down. One well placed shot & it was done! Erik and his pig! It was awesome that Erik got his pig on Friday late in the morning, as it allowed is to spend the rest of the day relaxing and glassing for our buddy who had yet to tag-out. It was also a good thing, because I was double-booked with DAD duties this weekend! I had to be in Prescott on Saturday afternoon for a father/daughter pine-car derby event. It was an over-niter that went until Sunday morning. Anyway, we had a good time. No first place race finish, but she did get a trophy for the 'best decals'! Greta and her car & tropy (She said that she want's to shoot a javelina when she's old enough!) Next-up is turkeys in May! S.

Holy heck, look at those horns! Sincere congratulations Bobby!!! Glad you reached your goal man! I want to hear the story in March! See ya, Stan

I talked to the tag holder in late November while I was at the ADA Youth Camp in 36. He told me then that he was holding-out for a 120 incher. We had a laugh together at the realism of this goal, but it looks like he did it! (close enough anyway.... ) Congrats to the hunter!!! S.

Sounds like good fun! Congrats on the success! S.

Great update once again Christian! Thanks for taking us along.... A buddy of mine was down south this past weekend and said that it looked as though the muley rut was still on. Lots of action, but no arrows released... S. :-)

I would agree Doug (RR). Being the cheap-skate that I am, I have yet to make the leap to the 'BIG GLASS' names..... I have some Pentax 10x42 DCF WPs that I LOVE. Maybe these would be a nice step-up for me on my way to the Swaros? Doug (grtful), are the EDs going to be available in the higher powers (15+)? S.
-
Good deal Kevin! Can't wait for pics & stories..... S.

Sincere best regards on your birthday Doug! S. PS: I say GO AHEAD AND HAVE THE BEER!!!

Nice story Christian! Are you going to be heading down again this month? I'm thinking a friend of mine and I may be down there with our bows for the last weekend of the season, but it depends on whether I can swing some time away from the office or not.... I'm hoping to get down to try to chase that little 4x4 that you had spotted for Erik on his junior hunt. Best wishes for the New Year! S.

Some items I found hunting
stanley replied to azhuntnut's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
azhuntnut's find was dead. Grizz's was alive.... Good points bowsniper. I'm assuming that the statute of limitations has run-out so I'll confess..... When I was a kid growing-up in 'Smalltown Southern AZ', we would sometimes come accross them or our dads would find them while working at the mine. They would usually end-up as our back-yard pets until they dug their way out and escaped. Luckily we lived in the middle of the desert, so when they escaped it was right back to their habitat. Didn't know about the water & cold risks then. Cool find's huntnut! LOL nmcouesaddict!!! S. -
For only having one picture to post, you sure posted a good one! I LOVE the 'family & friends' types of pics with the whole group huddled around the day's success. Look at those faces.... it really sums-up the great times had by all. Thanks for sharing. S.
