+ 1 on Mike Vaccaro! He came highly recommended and mounted my son's first javelina. Did an excellent job!!!!! I've also heard great things about Pat Newman out of San Manuel, but I've never had anything done by him (but I've seen some, and they look great...). S.

Outstanding Ramon!!!! VERY cool!!! Thanks for sharing the pic! S.

This thread bothers me.......... In todays society a man is expected to be so sensitive, dutiful, and speak nicely to his peers, amongst his peers. hence this thread. its a nice thread... (dont hurt anyones feelings for stealing your stuff or dont talk bad about so and so) thread.... Well guess what, a man isnt judged by how big of a deer he takes, or how nice he is........ bottom line... Its this nice guy mentality, that these thieves are so willing to steal, because there are NO CONSEQUENCES...(its not stealing........ its abandoned property) F that..... if its not yours.. DONT TAKE IT HOME WITH YA' Back in the day... (with the old timers), if someone stole from my grandfather... that special someone that had the balls to steal, would have their d!ck knocked in the dirt.. This whole wait a month thing is sickening...... I dont care to see pics.... that doesnt interest me one bit. Its the be nice to everyone that kills me! The dude took your stuff.... make sure he doesnt do it again... be it legally or just a stern talkin' Im sorry if I offend anyone and I know Im not in on everyones clique on here. Mike is a dedicated hunter and this guy does his homework(obviously).... for someone to steal from him is an absolute disgrace and I hope this bastard gets a wake up call! Beau Huh Beau?? Was the 'nice thing' directed at me?? I'm assuming so, since you quoted my reply! Although I'm not sure why, because my comments really didn't have much to do with 'being nice'.... They were only in support of Mike, relative to the comment by tommcat doubting that the pics even exist. So back in the day your grandfather would have handled it as you've suggested. I suspect my grandfather and my father would have done the same thing. What they likely would NOT have done is to do it in public, on a public forum. They likely would have handled it in private, between the perp and themselves, and none of us would be debating it in public. Either way, I hope the bastard gets a wake-up call also! S. PS: Hope you don't mind the smiley face! I'll try to not be so nice in the future!!!! JK!

You'll be fine with any legal sized envelope, as long as it had the current address on it! S.

+2!! BINGO Mark!!!!! Absolutely on target (no pun...)! I'm sure that if/when Mike posts anything further on this topic, it will be for his own personal reasons, and not to satisfy the voyeurs and curiosity seekers. It is HIS deal, and he should/can/will handle it on his own. S.

The Claw: First time test Impressive.

I want one!!! Uh, I mean; I NEED one!!!! Buck fever is my middle name! Thanks much for the posts/reviews/info all! I'm the king of 'gitters' when it comes to shooting. I'm pretty darn good with a shotgun bird shooting 'off-hand', but when it comes to relaxing, concentrating, and holding steady, I'm a wreck! As soon as I'm sure I have tuition covered for the kids this fall, I'll be putting some of my extra cash towards this. I can, will, and do hunt; I just can't hold as steady as I would like to. I suspect this might be a 'tool' that will help me.... Again, thanks for the reviews all! S. -
I say that you should just call him to discuss it. VERY hard to understand completely where someone is coming from through just written words (at least without the benefit of 'emotion icons'... LOL). The guy left a note, big deal...... At least he had the balls to leave his phone number, which likely means he would be willing to talk to you about it. Until you talk with him, I wouldn't waste much time presummng and/or assuming his demeanor & intent. Who knows, maybe you'll end-up with a new hunting contact with other good information??? Good luck! S.

Wow! Wonder if it was the fall or a car/truck that killed them..... S.

VERY, VERY, cool!!!! Thanks much for posting!!!! S.

Got it, all good. Just taking-up space hanging on the garage wall, and has been for four years now.... So if your friend can use it, then I'll basically give it away.... The basket comes off easily..... Let me know. Good luck! S.

I have a Yakima that I have owned for MANY years. I liked it because it seemed like there were many components that were available & useful (bike, basket, canoe, etc...). I'm sure the Thule compents would be great as well though. The reason I'm replying though, is that I have not used the rack in several years. I had an older model GMC Yukon (two door) that I used it for, but I now have a newer Yukon XL that has a pretty good rack on it already so I never use my Yakima anymore. I have the towers, bars, and a basket. Might have a couple of bike attachments to, but I haven't seen them in a while. I would sell the entire thing VERY cheap (like frankly, next to nothing...) if you wanted to explore that option. The one question would be the compatibility of the towers to your Armada (does it have rain gutters?) Even if you could only use the towers & bars, it might give you a start. I live in North Central Phx. Let me know, S.

Cool pics Brian! Congrats on the success! We were also in some low country in 23 for my boy's junior hunt weekend before last. We didn't get one, but were into plenty of turkeys! S.

1st Annual All-Ladies Turkey hunt!
stanley replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Hey Amanda! Awesome pics and awesome write-up!!!! Thanks so much for sharing!! The kids and I didn't get any turkeys on our hunt, but we were into them daily and had a GREAT time! One of these days one of those little ones is going to get one on the ground!!! Best regards, S. -
Success definitely has something to do with it. Why do you think they've been lowering the number of Dec coues tags???? So they can offer more early season tags! Due to the high success in the late hunts, they can offer an incremental increase in early tags as they decrease the Dec tags. More tags = more 'hunter opportunity' in the Department's opinion.... They can either let 50 hunters into the field in December, or 150 hunters into the field in October! More opportunity in October! Same number of deer killed in the end.... (numbers are examples only, of course...). S.

Good question, although one more for the specific WMs for each individual unit! I definitely don't know all of the specifics, but I understand that the managers for the units are the ones who propose the hunts for their units each year (within the guidelines of the Directors, etc... of course...). If you have a unit or two in mind you might want to e-mail the WM for those specific units and query them on the possibility. As has been mentioned though, I think the success ratios may come into play. Specifically with the department's 'opportunity' goal, they might be less likely to approve these so called 'high success' hunts. They seem to think that offering more tags is a priority over high hunt & quality hunt success..... S.

I'll be up in 23 with my two sons and a couple of friends with their sons next weekend for the junior turkey hunt. Can't wait!!!!!! Terry, we're hoping to get by the youth camp for a visit!!!! Has anyone heard any gobbling lately? Are they starting to warm-up a bit? We'll of course be out in the woods either way, but I'm just getting curious as to what's been going on..... S.
-
Sincere congrats to the boy!!!!! I had my two young ones out in 23 over the weekend. Didn't get one, but we had a few close calls that made it very fun. Good for Nick!!!! S.
-
Nice pics Terry!!!!!! Nice seeing you briefly this weekend as well..... My boys & I gave it our best, but we couldn't quite bring it together for a kill! Heard gobblers, chased some, and had some close calls. All around GREAT time!!!! Sorry we didn't make it back to the camp, but we were really hunting hard and just didn't make the time to drive all that way back there. Glad some of the kids had success!!!! Best, S.

Bill, I think you can chalk it up to; One man's camping area is another man's hunting area..... I was hunting turkeys in unit 23 this past weekend with my boys. We camped in our usual spot, and drove about 4 miles each morning to hunt. There were people camped in the area we hunted, and when we came back for lunch there were people hunting not to far from where we camped! What can you do???? People are going to camp where they will (me included.....). Not all folks know and understand where all of the game is, nor do they necessarily understand the impact that camping in said game's living room will have. Public land, free country, etc.... S.

Sargent Schulz????? Now that's seriously OLD SCHOOL Doug!!!! You have to be of a certain age (which I am.....) to appreciate that analogy!! One of the best shows of all time, IMO!!! Good luck on the grouse Gonhntn! They're a litte scarce... S.

OTC spring turkey tags for kids is an outstanding idea!!!!! Terry, my boys & I are heading-up next Thursday afternoon! What time will you all be set-up??? Amanda said the 16th, but the flyer says 17th..... If you're there on Thursday afternoon, I'll stop by on our way to say hello! We might stop in later in the weekend as well, depending on how our hunting is going.... Kudso to Terry & helpers to doing the youth camps for the spring turkey hunts!!!!!! S.
