I don't measure anything....... Maybe because I have never killed anything worth measuring , but mainly because it just doesn't matter to me. I love to get out and hunt in the hills with family and friends. Just makes me feel good to be out. Feels like home..... All animals killed are trophies to the shooter! My sweet little daughter killed her first deer on the Kiabab last year. Wanna know what it scored? It was a DOE, and it scored a perfect 10 in my book! That experience with her was priceless to me! I don't care if someone puts a + sign after a score, because I frankly don't care about anyone's score anyway..... I don't begrudge anyone who is interested in the score of a deer's rack, it's just that I'm personally not interested. To each their own. S.

Fact is, it is a judgement call that the WM's make while patroling. If you're driving slow and have your rifle (or shotgun for birds) at the 'ready', then you are at risk of getting a citation for road hunting. I once had a WM tell me that when he patrols during archery season that if someone is driving with their 'release' strapped to their wrist, and bow next to them then he may issue them a citation for road hunting (depending on what other behavior they are displaying.....). If you are driving down the road with a loaded rifle/shotgun sitting next to you on the seat or between your legs, then you are likely at risk for a 'road hunting' ticket. gearsnagger, no doubt it is absolutely your right to question Authority in this country! (Break the deal, face the wheel..... ) Again, it is a judgement call....... S.

Congrats on your deer! Reminds me of my buddies and I hunting Gambels! Those little dudes ALWAYS flush uphill!!! Every time I'm standing on top of a ridge (after chasing the covey of birds up there) I promise myself that I will never let them sucker me again! Well, somehow I keep finding myself up on top of those ridges looking down at the wash I flushed them out of..... Again, congrats on the deer! S.

My suggestion would be to join-up and volunteer to help at the 20C Junior Javelina camp that is held every year! I think that hunt is the last weekend in January. Look at the AZ G&F website for details, as I think it will be listed there. Or do a Google search of "Youth Outdoors Unlimited". They are sponsoring and have a facebook page. There is a good group of folks who sponsor the annual youth javelina hunt there. If you go up there and volunteer to help-out around camp, or glassing for kids, or what ever, I know you'll get some valuable knowledge and/or tips that will help you on your hunt! Good luck! S.

Awesome Allan! You are blessed in many ways whether it be friends, great family, or great hunting opportunities! We make our own luck in life through hard work, clean living, and doing right by folks! You are it! Good on you for making the most of life! S. PS: Same here regarding some of the comments abou the Bell's Palsy! I have known two folks who were aflicted, and both made great recoveries! I'll pray for you!

Well, I don't live in Tucson so I don't read the Daily Star. Didn't realize the reporter had such a reputation..... Also likely due to my own ignorance, I don't completely understand the negative comments towards the G&F on this. Seems like Donnie did the right thing by reporting the event. Then it seems like the G&F investigated and gathered as much info as they could on it. Looks like that's the end of the story. I didn't see any kind of 'guilty until proven innocent' on this thing. Oh well, either way it's pretty cool to think that there is still the occasional Jaguar running around. S.

Absolutely my favorite holiday of the year! Family, friends, food, football, and giving thanks! Happy Thanksgiving all! S.

I don't know the areas that you mentioned, but I grew-up in Kearny. We used to see plenty of pigs in the hills along the 37B side of the San Pedro and Gila rivers..... Good luck! S.

Read more: http://azstarnet.com...l#ixzz1eYkhVUQC What is the purpose of this in the story? To make it sound like the guy is getting rich off of killing lions? I would have NEVER called the G&F in the first place. You never know when they might try and cite you for harassing an endangered species. I've seen plenty of stories in newspapers where they add a little post-script to the article that sometimes calls out details of the subject and/or object of the interview. Seems to me like it was maybe the reporting giving Donnie a little PR...... Not sure what the writer's motive was to put this 'factoid' in at the end of the article, but that's how I interpreted it..... S.

On the weekends that we're not hunting together, my oldest is usually busy with a 'not so common' sport! He is on his high school's Crew team. For those that don't know what the sport of Crew is, it's ROWING! It's a great team sport, with coordination, teamwork, and LOTS of conditioning being mandatory for success! The weekend after our mule deer hunt found us out in Marina Del Rey for the annual Fall Regatta (that's what they call the rowing tournaments....). This was an open event, with teams from all over the country, not just high school teams. There were some high school teams, some college teams (ASU was there), and some 'club' teams. They have various races, from single sculling boats, all the way to 8 man (and/or woman) sweep races. Spent a nice day watching the races, then had some evening fun with a friend in Santa Monica while Erik and his team hung-out together. All in all, a great weekend. Erik competed in a four man boat. The boy has some serious guns and dug-in deep for the 5K race! They ended-up taking second place in a tough field of open competition. Proud of him! Anyway, just thought I would share something quite different than hunting! S. Officials getting the race set-up at sunrise. Awesome flat calm water for rowing that day! Getting lined-up for the race! His boat is on the right...... Erik's boat on the right. Digging in deep! He's second from the right..... Me and the Big Man after his race!
