Hate to rehash this but i've found a smokin setup for my 870 youth. 3" fed heavyweight 7's outta a Truglo Super Stopper Extreme tube. 130+ pellets in a 10" circle @ 40 yards. That will knock the bejesus outta any turkey. Normally w/ lead i run 5's or 6's. But the federal heavyweight is heavier than lead, therfore you can shoot a smaller pellet size and have more pellets that retain enough energy.

Somebody please buy this. The greatest American pump gun of all time... In great shape.

I've had some rough experiences with uncourteous folk out chasing turkeys. They didnt believe in first come first served. I've had birds roosted after dark to find they were scattered sometime at night. I've had birds coming in get shot on the way a couple of times. It can be a zoo. -To beat it I've gone deeper into rougher country. Hunt the "Off" hours. Best of luck.

A box I bought from the late Marvin Robbins at the ISE show in 09. Walnut over walnut. No turkey vocalization than can't be made on a box. Cuts the wind and covers big country better than any other call type or can be dialed down and subtle. And with a good box (not most production stuff) probably the most realistic. However, Aluminum over glass in a pot call is another favorite, with a macassar ebony, Osage, or wenge stiker.

I do believe that there are moderators out there to deal with what they feel to be inappropriate. Why can't someone say to themselves "too rich for my blood, best of luck on the sale" and then leave?

Commissioners= appointed ap·point·ed /əˈpointid/ Adjective 1.(of a time or place) Decided on beforehand; designated. 2.(of a building or room) Equipped or furnished in a specified way or to a specified standard. Synonyms stated - fixed Easy to get the nod for an unqualified individual when unqualified individuals are the selectors. Keep in mind that people are appointed for a reason. Historically they make great lap puppies to push agendas. Sportsmen have always been the driving factor/influence in conservation since the good Roosevelt and Pinchot. No commission/commissioner can compete with the value of the conservation oriented sportsman. Ask the NWTF, RMEF, DWF, DU, Ruffed grouse society, QU, QF, PF, SCI, and the Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration act of 1937. This does not include our contributions from licenses, tags, stamps, app fees, watercraft registration, ohv tags, donations, countless volunteer hours on improvements/restoration projects. Lark isn’t here anymore so I'm stuck with just quoting him. "Don’t drink the Kool-aid" The most American thing you can do is think for yourself and question everything. -

Man o' man "archerycrazy" loves the commission. Anyone who has any verbal opposition or doubt gets jumped on. I still don’t know what makes this individual qualified to vote on the future of wildlife or hunting as we know it. No formal education in such. Even the lowest level of wildlife manager for the USFS, FWS, BLM, BIA etc. has to have some education. I want educated opinions based in research, data, and previously proven sound management practices, not just opinions. Our wildlife is far too precious to be left to an amateur with experience limited to checking data cards on slot machines at casinos and running license plates (he was an investigator for the gaming dept. and worked for Flagstaff P.D.) What can he tell me from his “experience” about Density dependent mortality, carrying capacity, trophic structure dynamics, adaptive management, ecosystem management etc.? We get pissed when the AZGFD votes on something without supporting data. This man may not have the skill set to better the situation. What will he base his decisions off of? Experience? In what…Law enforcement? Bottom line: we now have a cop that will vote on wildlife decisions. While we’re at it, why don’t we get pharmacists to run machine shops, Deli workers building space shuttles, and garbage truck drivers doing heart surgery? When Barack Obama ran in 2008 we all screamed that he was essentially a political virgin with very little experience, yet we’re willing to accept a commissioner with the same qualifications- none. All I ask is for qualified people in every level of government. -
Hard to beat a good box call. Few other calls can produce the volume needed in our big country. You can also be subtle with a box call. They can produce yelps, cutts, purrs, and even gobble on a 2 sided box call.
