  1. If we do it maybe we should do it in smaller groups.....cause if we get 20 people there on one trip I think we'd be pissing $200 into the wind.....even if we had a discount we'd still be doing the same....that's just way to many people. Just my $0.02

    Family Strengths

Wow we have quite some diversity here! I'm a Civil Engineer in Tucson, I do transporation and traffic engineering for a nationwide firm. I grew up in Globe and still hunt the unit....it's my favorite. I've been married for 6 years and have a beautiful daugter. We love to camp, hunt and fish as a family which unfortunately never seems to be enough. This thread is such a great way to get to know people.
  3. Great Pics!!! Thanks for posting. your really young to be a guide so I'm sure your gonna be great!!!!

    Developing Loads

Thanks for all the input. Does anyone know where to buy sample bullet packs and/or sample powder packs? Do bullets made by different manufactures really make the same difference as developing loads to suit your barrels harmonic wip? thanks
  5. Great pics elk hunter....not sure where that's at but if I had to guess somewhere near Benson or Ft Huachuca. I went to Palominas once and holy cow....some of the most beautifl country I've ever been in. Thanks for the pics!

    Developing Loads

AZDAVE Are we talking 6 total (3 shots of one bullet, one powder and one charge) and then (3 shots same bullet, same powder and same charge as the previous 3)? If so I can totally see how that may be better. I was at the range with a guy the other day and he was shooting 5 shot load tests and you could see that the groups opened up as the barrel got hotter. Thanks for you input. Scott

    Developing Loads

I appreciate all the input so far. The one thing I need to do is to make sure the barrel is free-floating. It may not be so I'll need to do that first. This gun had never had a round through it until after the muzzle break....brand new gun, brand new break, first time to the range. I have a high quality OAL (COL-cartridge overall length) guage. I will probably be using a full-length die for reloading although I could get a neck sizer only. I only plan on shooting these rounds in my gun.....first time reloading for this gun.....had other experience on others. I've heard a 5 shot group works best for load development and keep getting mixed review on how many shots to fire before cleaning. I did clean and shoot and clean shoot and clean shoot and clean last time to the range and will probably do that the next time I'm out too. I already adjusted the 700 trigger and she is TONS better than the way I recieved it from the factory. I appreciate everyones input so keep it coming. Thanks

    Who's ready for bear?

Can't wait for your pics out2hunt! That's great you took your 6 year old out. I took my 4 year old scouting for bear and all she wanted to do when we were glassing was wrestle and climb on me.....we didn't get much scouting done but had a blast. We even had a picnic at a hidden trough that had some grapes on it and that's what she remembers most....so AWESOME.

    Did anyone tag a bear?

Been lookin in 24b.....some sign but it's old. My buddy went to 23.....same story as Dan H. Absolutely no sign. It does sound like you and muskrat at least saw some stuff....by the way the pics were amazing. That area looked really good so I'm not surprised you saw 2 bears. I have to say thanks for being rational hunters and not just smoking 2 small bear just so you can say you killed a bear! We need more guys like you that actually wait for a good one to come along. BIG BUCK

I don't know what unit your in but.....dang you must have gotten some serious rain and fertilizer down that way! Great buck.....hope you have a tag and can find him consistenly. Anyone who scouts and puts the efforts in are very deserving.
  11. Well as most of you recommended I took my gun to Murphy's for my muzzle brake, the work appears to be ok.....but those guys are lacking in customer service. I called to see if my gun was ready.....they never called me and it has been ready, go figure. Then when I'm talking to the guy (once I met him you could just tell he's an a$$hole) the guy acts like its a chore to give me a break down of the total cost. Then said "are you done" and hangs up on me. So when I go to pick up my gun tonight, I get home and my dry fire cap is missing.....my leupold scope box is missing (my fault for not asking when I was there on it....totally forgot) and when I talked to the manager or owner he goes and gets the a$$hole and automatically the guy starts defending himself.....I didn't even say a word. Honest to goodness I was polite the whole time. Never even provoked the guy. You gotta love when a guy comes to work in a bad mood and just treats the world like crap. Needless to say I won't be doing any business there anymore. I sure hope I don't have any problems with my brake. Scott

    BREAKING IN A NEW RIFLE

Your gonna get a million answers on this one. Some will say shoot and clean, shoot and clean: 15 times. Then shoot 3 and clean, shoot 3 and clean: 10 times. Then your done. Others will say shoot the heck out of her' and be done. I know this isn't helpful but for what's it's worth I had a custom AR15 upper built for me and the instructions said the 1st thing I mentioned. So I'd go with that!
  13. Hey Doug.....can you guys teach me how to shoot like that?

    Murphy's Guns in Tucson

I went down during my lunch break to get my scope box and dry fire bullet, and while I was down at Murphy's spoke with manager (owner)....I didn't get his name. He seems like a really nice guy. took him a copy of everyone's responses and told him that after my experience yesterday, I was not surprised at each of your experiences. I hate to bring something like this on a public forum for the whole world to see but I believe that this is the only way to get things changed. I just hope that they have a little meeting down there and realize that you just don't treat your customers like dirt nor act like it's a chore to serve them. I'm a civil engineer and if you want repeat customers, you don't treat them like dirt and YOU DO serve them with courtesy, respect and give them the respect they deserves.....they are paying my bills! I don't want to see Murphy's go under since I believe mom and pop shops are a great heritage and deserve to not be snuffed out by bigger outfits....but HAVE SOME GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE FOR PETE'S SAKE!!

From my conversations with Swarovski, there have been no changes to the glass only the design of the tubes....they beefed them up around the focus knob area.
