I was out deer hunting on saturday with my dad sitting in a blind at a water hole waiting for a coues. We were just about to go when a coati came by. My Dad asked if I wanted to shoot him. ( he later said it was the stupidest question he ever asked me!) I grabbed my bow and ranged him. 22 yards. I shot and hit him a little left. He ran down the hill. After half an hour, my dad and I tracked him and found him about 30 yards away. When we found him we realized how big he was (not trying to brag). Then we gutted him and came home. My first coati with a bow!

I got my first archery coues Sunday morning! Here is the story: We started by getting up that morning. I got my clothes on and got ready. We packed up, and walked down the road a little ways. Then we started down to our spot. We got there and it was still pitch black. I went in to the blind to get my chair set up. My head lamp was on, and all of the sudden a bee came buzzing around the light. It startled me, and I dropped the head lamp. I am guessing the bee followed the light, and landed on the pad on the head lamp that touches your forehead. I put my head lamp back on, and I felt sharp pain in my forehead. I ran out of the blind trying to whisper: Dad! I just got stung by a bee! My dad was like “What?” He came over and looked at my forehead. We waited a couple minutes to see if I was allergic. I wasn’t, and we continued on with what we were doing. About ten minutes later, we got in the blind. I dozed a little, and I woke up just in time to see a doe coming by. No, two does. Then, about 25 yards away, I saw antler. Then, he vanished. 5 minutes later, he came by out of my shooting lane. He was munching on acorns, and happened to walk just into range at 17 yards. I drew back, picked a spot, and released. I got a complete pass-through, right through both lungs! I watched him bolt down the hill. We gave him plenty of time, and walked down the hill. He ran about 60 yards, but we are guessing he fell the last 10 yards. He is a beautiful little 3 by 3 buck. We haven’t decided what to do with him yet, mount him or do a European mount. Here is a picture. Thanks for reading! Troy

Hey everyone, about 25 mintutes ago i got my second small game archery animal, a bunny. It all started when my dog Sophie saw a baby bunny in our yard. I let her out to try and catch it, but she missed it. I then decided to look over the fence(we have a wash behind our house). I saw a bunny about 25 yards away. I moved my bow, and a bunny hiding in the bushes nearby bounded off. I got down then and moved the ladder to where i was so it would be easier to shoot. I noticed that the bunny that had bounded off, came back, and walked to about 20 yards away(I guessed). I out my third pin on him and shot. I hit high, spining him. Then he somehow managed to crawl to a bush. There I finished him off. After that I wanted to try to keep the skull, so my dad said I could try. He also said it would be good practice to skin him. Here are a couple pics. the attachments thing is being stubborn i will try to post pics later troy

Well I got my second turkey on Sunday with a bow this time! We woke up at 3:15. My dad and I left and got to the blind about 4:30. We had set the blind up around a lot of turkey sign. My dad also called a little. We heard gobbles down the hill where we think they were roosted. About 6:20 two hens came by. I could have shot one of the hens that had a little one inch beard, but I held off. They left. Around 7:00, a hen came by. Sure enough, a gobbler was following her. I picked my bow up and when I put my hand in it, and realized it was upside down. So my dad and I had to flip it over. We were very surprised he didn’t bolt with the noise we made. As I was about to draw, my hands went numb. I settled my first pin on him and released. He flew up and landed and then bolted. Fortunately, we had put a string tracker on him. It attaches to the broadhead and the end of the stabilizer. When you shoot, the string deploys out and then all you have to do is follow the string to the animal. We were sitting in the blind watching the string deploy out like we had caught a shark. Then we got out and followed it. He ran about 200 yards from where I shot him. We got the camera and took pictures. Then we hiked out and I gutted him. His beard measured eight and nine sixteenths. He also had a side beard that measured one and five sixteenths. His heel spurs measured one and seven sixteenths.

ok some of you wanted to know what my equipment was so here it is: I used a Browning Micro Midas Bow. I shot carbon arrows. The brand of my broadheads were magnus and were 1 and 1/4

Well I finally got a pig this morning at about 8:40! I was sitting in the blind this morning on the 8th day of hunting, and, all of the sudden a little face appeared out of the bushes at about 8:35. I was so excited when I saw it was a Javelina face. Two of them appeared, and I drew back on one that was a little smaller than average. I released, and the next thing I knew the arrow went flying ten feet in the air and into a bush. Buck fever. A clean miss! Then five minutes later the rest of the herd stumbled by. I saw four pigs and a piglet. I drew on one that had his head down, and released. My dad had told me that I probably wouldn't get a passthrough, so I was frantically searching the pig's body as he ran away for the arrow. My dad went out to check the arrow a couple minutes later and confirmed it was a passthrough. I was so excited! But I wasn't so excited when my dad told me I had to go to school that day. (at least I had a half-day!) There was green on the arrow, with a lot of blood. My dad said I gut shot him and we would come back to look after school to track him. It was hard in school because I kept looking at the clock and picturing him dead somewhere. Finally the bell rang, and my dad picked me up from school. We hiked up to the spot where I had shot him, and looked around for about ten minutes when we walked up a patch of rocks. I got to the top, looked to my left under a palo verde, then looked in front of me and I jumped because it scared the heck out of me. Then my dad jumped too. Lying there dead, out in the open, two feet in front of us was my pig! We then took a bunch of pictures and then gutted and skinned him. We found out later that my arrow entered the lung, but he was quartering when I shot so it exited throught the stomach. It was a fun hunt and I will never forget it. Thanks dad! Thanks for reading!
