Late Season Archery Bull tag Unit 22N

Just came back to read what all the haters have to say. Thank you! All that negativity fuels me and gets me up earlier in the morning and pushes me to to hike further and harder on my scouting trips. Keep it coming! I love it. Nothing would be better than posting a picture of a bull on this thread in late november, if I'm lucky enough. Hope you all have wonderful hunts this year, driving your side by sides on forest roads and pretending to be good hunters. I'll be back periodically for more fuel, but please come up with some better material than hacky political jokes. You guys are weak but I think you can do better.

Listen man, I get why people get upset but you're misrepresenting my original post. I was asking for general areas like "the rim". Not really a reason for anyone to get upset. You're really stretching to make "Mike" seem like he was trying to help me out. He's another dude who wants to put down people that are trying to learn the ropes. I can't stand that kind of attitude, it's why people don't get into hunting, and it makes hunters look bad. He's the last dude I want to meet on the trail or in the woods. "Watch videos and listen to podcasts", yeah thanks dude, like I'm not already doing that all the time. I won't be back. Plenty of other forums without losers like that guy.

"step four delete this post as no good will come from it." Doesn't get much more condescending than that. From everything I've seen on this site people are super quick to jump all over people who they think are asking for spots. I said very clearly I wasn't looking for spots. I don't want that dude's spot. I was just looking for some general advice. I get that elk move in the winter. That's why I made this post and asked about it. haha thanks! that's actually some useful advice!

Not saying I'm going to, either. Probably won't! I'm a brand spankin' new hunter. In. the future - don't make us newbies feel like idiots. We're out here doing the best we can. But my bad for asking for some general advice.

    22N Late Rifle

I've heard people say this unit sucks and it's been over hunted and it's too crowded etc. I drew the late season archery tag and have been scouting all summer and fall. I spent this past saturday watching 10-12 bulls in one area. If you know what to look for, it's pretty unreal. You also don't need to be able to shoot 400 yds. if you can get in close, and you don't need to spend a fortune on optics. Vortex diamondback 10x50's on a 100$ tripod found a pile of bulls for me.

either that or it'll get so bad we'll be in the same boat as Idaho and the state will start legislating management practices.

    A recruited hunter's perspective on R3

That's an awesome story. It sounds like camaraderie and genuine interest is what really got you out. I think that's a bit different than the direct R3 effort and I would argue that scenario absolutely could have played out without R3. I'm not at all against naturally spreading interest in hunting through relationships. I think the volume of half committed hunters as a result of direct calculated efforts to create hunters would undoubtedly have an impact on the quality of the hunting experience. I don't think that the move to change the conversation around hunting has to be a slow crawl. We're seeing good examples of ethical hunting enter the mainstream every day.

I had the same question. I also read somewhere that they're trying to take out like 400 of them. 12 people. 33 bison a person? I'm definitely missing something here.

Just trying to make sure the right info is out there. It's hard to sift through everything and figure out how this is actually going to work with all the different things people are saying. Not trying to be a stickler at all. there's just a lot of stuff flying around.
