Once while in the Southern deserts, I had spotted a very unique 4 point with a busted eyeguard. The next morning we found him 14 miles away across the flats basin rutting different does... They travel during the rut a lot... I know they do have a core area though because I have also seen the same bucks return to the same canyons from year to year and as often as every day during peak estrous,

Hey, isn't this picture on the DIY bow hunter trailer video?
-
We will have a chance to get at him again... Hopefully you get him bro... I can't believe how close we were to tagging that bad boy...
-
It is interesting to read about the hunt reports here and how they vary from unit to unit... While the deer we are seeing are not in full rut yet, all the does do have bucks with them, nothing big but they will do on the last day

YEEAHHH Grizzy... You know what time it is... I swear A good one is gonna fall and it isn't one of those

I have never had luck with distress calls, however, A buddy of mine has called in the doe that had a yearling and the doe was hot, the buck followed her in and he shot him. With that said, I do have a set of 150 class muley sheds that I sometimes strap to my pack and those can bring in curious bucks SOMETIMES, during the right circumstances...Usually when in tight to the herd with a dominant buck... My favorite and most reliable technique is good ole spot n stalk... Nothing better!

Creed, All tags in Colorado and now in Utah are draw... We used to be able to get OTC leftovers in Utah but the archery all sell out during the draw now. If you pick your region and put it as first choice you will get it in Ut. A good place to hunt above timber in Utah is hard to find! The Pahvant does hold big deer and there are areas above timber there but the bucks, believe it or not hide out in the deep canyons! If you want Colorado, there are plenty of units in the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's that have plenty of deer in the high country that can be drawn with 0 or 1 point... I cannot say one unit is way better than another because the high country has deer in it all across Co. A good place to start could be the Sangre de Cristo's... Big bucks and a true high country backpack hunt... You will see 160-180 class and if you hunt hard you will have a crack at a bigger buck!

Well... If you all have not noticed, Trav is being modest as he is the engineering brains behind this awesome new widget! It is a great piece of equipment... Way to go bud! -
You might have some good luck up at the top of Rainbow Lake Drainage as well as Mill Basin... There's still some bombers up there, hunt above 12,000 ft. if the bucks are still in velvet! Good luck and hope this helps...

Here is a buck I took after 9 days of some of the most physically demanding hunting I have ever done. The bucks were cliffed out and in treacherous spots... He is 25" wide and 175 net green, 180 gross. 29 yards bedded. My best archery buck to date and I am the happiest guy on earth with him... I hope you all enjoy the pictures...
