I farm on the opposite side of the river south of Poston, near Blythe. I had been hearing rumors of "this elk" in the area, of course i thought it was a bunch BS and everyone was making it up. That was two months ago, yesterday i was driving thru the farm and came up "the elk" i had been hearing about. It fell in the irrigation canal but was still in great shape. I had some help getting him out and then let him go on his way. It was a small rag horn but no the less, an elk in the middle of the desert. I think it must be a 100 miles from home. Never thought i would see that....

My buddy and I are really wanting to do a backpacking hunt this up coming year. We understand the planning that is required to have a successful hunt and we are both willing to put in the necessary effort. i guess my question to everyone here on the forum is: what unit/s would give us the best opportunity to have a successful hunt and why? I am not asking for your secret spot, but more units that would give us a good starting point as we begin our planning and research.. Thanks in advance.

WOW!!! Im still in shock. I drew my first ever Dec. whitetail hunt in 36c. But im going to have to keep that on the back burner a little bit, due to my lovely wife drawing a 40b sheep tag!!! Im still shaking over it. The crazy thing is, it was her first time ever even putting in for sheep. Cant wait, its going to be a great year!

I have a couple extra packs that i need to get rid of. Both are in excellent shape. The eberlestock is J104 model. It has tons of space and has the rifle scabbard. The badlands pack is an older super day model. It has barley been used. Both packs for $200. Cant go wrong with them. thanks
