dodger2 The alchohol is ok. I haven`t tried the new fletchtite platinum so I really don`t know about it. You may be using to much glue. It doesn`t take much!. I use tim`s goat tuff and it works very well. vanes and inserts. When I apply the glue I spread a small bead on the vane and then I smooth it out with the tip of the glue bottle. never had any real problems. After I remove the arrow from the fletching jig I apply one drop to the front of each vane. seems to help them hang in there a little longer on 3d targets. Hope this helps Rich

Neo Dude, sounds like you got the ''FEVER" man. You sound like a fairly young guy at that. I admire the fact that you actually know that you are a sicko! Thats half the battle right there Neo. Hunting is without a doubt very addicting. I have been married for 30 years now and my wife still can`t understand some of the stupid things that I say and do! I really lucked out though because my wife grew up in a hunting family and she loves to go out hunting and camping. If you find out what your "soon to be'' likes and you put forth some of your enthusiasum towards that you may just have a chance. If she is not worth the effort to try and make her feel included or part of your future life than it may be time to re think the big event.Hunting alone is not near as much fun as with friends or loved ones, believe me I know. Hang in there bud, I know you can find a way to make it all work. Good luck Coues Addict P.S. Whats in a name, anyhoo?

I don`t think I know any of you personally but we are all CWT friends. Maybe we will meet someday whiile we are out scouting for desert sheep, looking for 43 elk near flagstaff before I am 98, or down south glassing for Coues and hopefully Bustin Bucks! P.S. Good luck on the fall draws! Rich T.

Bill Sounds pretty exciting there Bill. I bet your wife thought so anyway! Sounds like you need to buy some ''bearseed''. All kidding aside my wife feeds a bunch of quail and dove and believe it or not the rabbits eat the most of it! Pretty cool stuff. Later on Rich T.

105coues I really like the Cabela`s F-3`s. They are made by rocket. I shoot the 100 grain heads and they are 1 1/8'' cutting dia. The blades are .036'' thickness stainless steel and they fly really good for me. The best thing is that they are probably the cheapest broadhead you can buy at $19.95 for a pack of six. I shoot them because they fly great for me and they are very tough. The fact that they don`t cost a fortune is a huge bonus. Good Luck Rich T.

Anybody Please tell me , " what is this bowhunter happening ?''. I might want to jam over there and check it out. How long does it last? Is it just one day? Is it a three D shoot or what? somebody please fill your ole Ca. nonresident CWT member what the He_ _ is going on! Maybe I can swing by and pick up Ernesto C. and see if this thing is fun or what? When is it? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks Rich Thompson P.S. Josh I am crushed you didn`t tell me about this! I promise I will bring a Ca. desert deer pickup if you help me out here! Maybe even a few sheds!

Garth Great story and it sounds like you definitely have your priorities straight! My Dad has had so many health problems the last few years its absolutely ridiculous! He, and my mom live with my wife and I. He seems to appreciate the smallest things that we do for him. It really makes you think. Thats the way life should be. The simple things should be enough! God created such a wonderful place and most people just don't realize it or just flat out don't appreciate life.I hope you do go back there after your Dad is gone because he would have wanted it that way and we need to keep some of our family traditions alive. I bet your kids had a lot of fun too! Great story and good luck Rich T. P.S. When is the last time you heard a family member say ''We need to get together and play computer games'' Makes ya think don`t it! P.S. Sorry to hear aboat your Dad Keith

Video addiction
coues addict replied to DEERSLAM's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
Deerslam Don`t worry Mike. I am sure I have the addiction also. A lot of us probably do. I really like the Primo`s videos, I think they are pretty well done. I have learned a lot of things to do and not to do from several of mine. Bill has a point though and maybe if enough of us bitch about it it will make the overall quality come up a level or two. Or maybe some of us will just have to make our own and get Bill to edit them for us! Later Rich -
What is your Coues deer set up?
coues addict replied to Lance's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
jdavid My 15`s are the new conquest`s that Allen uses. They are a good glass and with my tripod adapter, mount and a small case only weigh 32oz. I have been using them since January on sheep in the Kofa`s and Chocolate`s. My 8`s are the classic`s and I have used them for years. As I have gotten older I have tried every possible way to cut my pack weight down and its still really heavy. I hunt a lot in the desert and packing water is the key and also the butt kicker! At least for Me. I really like em. Good luck Rich -
What is your Coues deer set up?
coues addict replied to Lance's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Man, You guys have some nice setups. I know ther have been more than a few jokes around the fire about my fine weapon of choice. I bought my Ruger M77 for $139.00 back in 1975 and topped it off with a fixed 4X leupold. I finally upgraded the scope about four or five years back with another (used Leupold 3X9) I bought from a buddy. The stock has been refinished once, but its no use anymore. I must fall more than you other guys. It looks just like our best cutting board. No sh_ t though it shoots really good. I shoot handloads 130 grain nosler ballistic tips. They are screaming at 3190fps. I use Zeiss 8 x30`s around the old neck and Zeiss 15`s on a tripod. I don`t pack a spotting scope and I agree with Bullwidgion. If they don`t look big in the fifteens they probably aren`t. I bought a Kifaru Pack about two seasons ago and it cost more than my rifle, both scopes, and my tripod. I really do like it though. Its a military type pack and very versatile. I only wear all leather boots, cause I hate shindagger, it goes right through the Cordura boots. Thats about it! Whew! P.S. nice pic Casey Later on Rich T. -

Thanks for the kind words guys This is definitely desert mule deer. I hunt zone d12 here in Ca. just west of the Az. border across the river west of 43b and 41. I have some other pics I will try and post tomorrow. They are on my work computer. Got one buck years ago north of Glamis for all you dune buggy enthusiasts! P.S. Nice buck Ernesto! Later Rich T. -

Mathew`s switchback XT 29'' Cobra surelock sight with ultra pins / custom machined mount Dropzone rest with /custom machined mount Mathews 2 piece raised quiver Specialty hunter peep Carbon impact stabilizer Vapor 4000 arrows with blazer broadhead vanes Cabela`s F3 broadheads 100grain (cheap but good) Best group yet for me with combo points has been 5 arrows 1.875 inch group at 53 yards ! I love my new Bow later Rich T. P.S. I made the mounts because I am a constant tinkerer and have owned a Machine shop for 24 years and I didn`t have to pay to have them made
-
muliehunter I shoot vapor 4000`s. They fly really good out of my bow and they don`t break the bank. They are very straight .003 and did just fine on my Bull last season. I also shoot the easton axis arrows and they are not bad either. I shoot my bow or bows almost everyday and I just don`t want to spend huge bucks on ammo. I buy bare shafts for about $48.00 to $50.0 a dozen with inserts and knocks. A buddy of mine shoots nothing but ACC`s but he shot a couple of my Vapor`s the other day and was pleasantly surprised! later Rich

CHD Well, thats a good question. I would have to say Desert Bighorn for sure! But all the sheep are truly awesome to me. I almost booked a Dall`s sheep hunt last year but I just couldn`t swing it. I hope to someday before I get to dang old. There is something about a big Ram and a big Coues`s buck that just rock my world! later on Chris Rich

Coues Camps
coues addict replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Doug Here are a couple of pics of last season`s dec. hunt. I was hunting alone so I had lots of room. I really enjoy seeing some of the other camps! later on Rich Doug The pics of my camp are combined together in groups of two so I guess I will have to scan them seperatly.then I will try to attatch them. That is the buck I took last dec. anyway, he has two broken main beams. I really probably should have held ot for a better buck! but ''Oh well" maybe this year. Rich -
hunting with your son/sons
coues addict replied to dogman68's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
HEADACHE I think that is one of the best pictures I have ever seen of your two kids out hunting! Its priceless! I have many hunting pictures at home and at work. All the pics I have hanging up at my office are of my son and some of my friends. There is nothing better than time and expieriences with family and good friends! P.S.They both look like they are just really relaxed and having a great ole time. Thanks for sharing Rich -
mulie hunter I shot a buck back in Nevada in 1991 with a Hoyt bow. I thought it was a great bow. Then I tried and soon after bought a Mathews conquest 3 two years ago and I killed a bull elk last season. I love my conquest, but I decided it was just to big to lug around all the time. I just ordered a new Switchback XT saturday and I just can`t wait! I know its gonna be awesome! Its all personal preferance, but I just love the mathews bows. Good luck on your choice Rich

Big Moqui Of the three calibers that you stated, your least favorite the .243 would be my favorite. You can get ammo anywhere and they generally are tack drivers.I also like the 25 06 but you really are splitting hairs! Good luck coues addict
