Shouldn't you be elk hunting? I should be....be I gotta pay the bills! All these women in my life are expensive! I'm headed back Friday after work for the duration of the hunt.

For myself I like the Bipod on my rifle. When helping other, especially kids, the Triclawps is awesome. I've killed animals with both and when able to lay prone the bipod works great and when you can't the Triclawps adds some extra flexibility.

That's an awesome hunt! We've all missed a few in our days and sometimes those are more fun to talk about down the road. She ended up with a great animal.

I just wish he would have posted this earlier. Had to buy tickets for the wife and her friend since hunting season is starting on Saturday for me and I can always use some extra Brownie Points. I had to pay quite a bit more than levers was selling his for! As for the ignorant comments from some of you guys....that's just embarrassing for you.

The picture I had gotten was from a husband whose wife had the tag and they did not use a guide. I know they had talked with Russ and other hunters up there during the hunt.

Looks good man. That's a great trophy! I think I get more compliments on my euro mount than the shoulder mount in my living room.

So as my buddy likes to remind me, CrossFit is the opposite of the Fight Club. First rule of CrossFit is that you must speak of CrossFit....constantly! With that being said, who here partakes and what Box are you at? I was down if Tucson for a couple years and worked out at CrossFit NOW with a couple CWT members. Currently I'm working out at Magna in the Paradise Valley area. I'm sure there will be some CF bashers that will likely show up but I enjoy it and think it keeps me in shape year round so I'm not struggling to get ready for the hunting season two weeks before the season starts...

Congrats Nick, glad you were able to get it done! I feel you on that. I'm starting to run low on my Buffalo and am getting very stingy with it.

Does the burner function properly once the hose is installed?

Would be very surprised if that was the case. Last Spring I got a call from Bank of America in regards to the charges from AZGFD due to the fact that I had gotten multiple charges from them at the same time so they thought I was getting fraudulent charges. But when I told them they were legitimate charges they let them go through and I never had an issue with the tags.

The Kenai Peninsula is an amazing place! Hard to describe the color of the water there without seeing it for yourself. Did you make it to Seward by chance?

By the second hunt the bulls are getting very quiet after being pressured through the archery hunt and the first Peaks hunt. The better density at that point is either way up top or down lower beneath the boundary line. There's always elk to be found but that hunt gets tougher each year as they have been doing what the hunts was intended for....decreasing the number of elk on the Peaks. By the fourth hunt I would encourage your buddy to shoot the first branch antlered bull he sees, especially since he has never killed a big game animal before. The other nice thing about those tags is that they are "any elk" so if he is having a hard time finding a bull then he can always fill the freezer with a cow. Make sure he's in shape if he's planning on hunting up on the mountain. DesertBull is right that the area west of the peaks to the 180 is a part of that unit but you will probably be seeing about 75% of the cow hunters in there driving the roads since it's the one area that has road access. Not sure what the number is but I think it's 150 cow tags per season now so that area will have been hit hard for about 6 weeks straight by the time his tag rolls around. Hope I'm not coming across as Negative as any tag in AZ always has the potential of a great bull. But to be realistic it will be a tough post-rut hunt with limited glassing opportunities. I love that unit and especially the Peaks but it's hard to watch the herd get decimated in the name of "Aspens".

Finally got around to getting some deer to the processor to make sausage and snack sticks through Denmark Sausage and they informed me that as of the first of the year they no longer accept wild game. Pretty bummed as they made awesome summer sausage and snack sticks. Where do you guys from the NW valley take your game for sausages? With deer I package my own steaks and roasts but then take the loose meat for sausage once I get enough for a big run. And I'm not currently interested in processing my own as I just don't have the time are space right now.

Von Hansons is who I had heard about from several people but was just hoping for someone closer. Will have to make the trek over there one of these days.
