Lucky to get Two Animals In Two Days

Great job! Looking back at some of your posts you have had quite the year. You and your dad keep up the good work! -
Great looking buck! But ugly hunter.... Good work dude.

Very cool! Congrats to all of you, especially to dad and his son!

Just got home and I'm a little tired after this weekend but I wanted to share a photo. I'm glad I was able to be there for this as his excitement for this bull was awesome! It could have only been matched by the man sitting next to him in this photo.... Younghunter and his Dad

I'm RH but left eye dominant but have convinced myself to continue shooting RH. After a while my left eye naturally closes when i'm shooting so I haven't found it to be a problem. Always wondered what it would have been like if I would have trained myself to shoot LH but have been too chicken to do so. Maybe someday.

Took my little brother up there two seasons ago and we found a bigger concentration of deer in the lower elevations. Spent the first day and a half in the pines and tried to endure the snow we got that weekend and saw nada. Once we got into the burn-outs we were seeing deer left and right. Didn't connect but were able to put on some good stalks and in the end big brother(me) messed up his best opportunity. He didn't let me forget that until he messed up his chance at a turkey several months later...so now we are even:) The year he had his tag there were 1000 jr tags, which I felt was a little dangerous. More then once we started to put a stalk on deer only to hear the zip of a bullet followed by the bang. Glad to see there aren't as many tags. Your kids should have a great hunt!

You can't do that to me....I was needing the discount this season! Guess I'll just be hitting up Napoean instead...

If you are still having a hard time finding the numbers then go to this new internet site... www.google.com Type in exactly what you are looking for....it works wonders But I'll give you the Cliff Notes....Raffle tags bring in a lot of money and the auction tags bring in even more. Also if it bothers you that somebody can afford multiple auction tags and you can't, well find out what he does for a living and do that too!

2007 Results Here are the 2007 results for the raffle. It raised a lot of money for each species and $130,000 specifically for elk. http://www.arizonabiggamesuperraffle.com/results.html A total of 37,144 raffle tickets were purchased, raising $557,320 for wildlife. The breakdown by species is listed below: Species Tickets Sold Funds Raised Antelope 2836 56,720 Bear 2216 11,080 Buffalo 2183 43,660 Coues Deer 4125 41,250 Desert Bighorn Sheep 5175 129,375 Elk 5201 130,025 Turkey 2007 20,070 Javelina 2008 10,040 Mule Deer 5755 115,100 Total 37,144 $557,320 After a quick search I could only find that the AES made about $350,000 for elk conservation at their banquet but couldn't find exactly how much of it was from the auction tag...but I'm pretty sure that it was at least half of that grand total. And remember that the RMEF has one too. Both are great deals for Arizona Elk.

Wow, I expected a little more out of you Moqui. Maybe if you have met the guy somewhere down the line and have experience with him that might be a little more warranted but my guess is that you haven't. Couple other questions that I saw on the thread: Why shoot a bull in July... Because not many folks have had the opportunity to shoot a mature bull in velvet. Why have auction tags... Those tags probably gain more money each year for the species and habitat then we will ever be able to contribute in our lifetime. Why shoot the "neighborhood bull".... I usually find big bulls where they are at. Just because he wasn't 10 miles off the beaten path doesn't make it less of a trophy for the hunter since he obviously wanted to harvest this bull. And guess what, he now has a chance to shoot one out of the next subdivision this next season if he so chooses to, which I believe starts today (Aug 1). For the record I have no affiliation with anybody involved and have no clue who the "CHUMP" is. For some reason I just find it amusing and sometimes irritating to see fellow hunters bash each other just because they might have an opportunity to do something that others might not ever do....like afford an auction tag. And just because somebody has money does not make them less of a hunter, which often seems to be the stereotype on the hunting forums. Heck, someday I hope I can be able to buy an auction tag and a San Carlos tag all in the same year....but with these student loans I'm accruing there's a pretty good chance it might not happen for a while We'll just have to wait and see how it pans out and if it was indeed too close to an occupied building, well, he's going to have to deal with it. Maybe 'Ol Droptine will have to have an asterisk next to his mounted head just like Barry Bonds might have in the Hall of Fame...

Best Archery Dealers/Shops in the Valley
Basser15 replied to archeryasu's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
My vote is for Archery HQ. My only other experience has been with Bear Mt. and I see no reason to go somewhere other then the HQ. -
Haven't been shooting that well lately but will try to make it out there Thursday. As long as YH shows up I know there's at least one person there that I can put to shame

I have to go buy another hunting mag now?!?! Alright.... With you and Houston around my collection seems to be growing

How many times do you see this??
Basser15 replied to akuritone's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Guess you can't stop love! Haha...now that's funny -
I've always said that when I finally catch somebody doing that kind of crap that they would pay for all the others who had come before him. Really sorry that you two have to deal with that. When they saw that little white Honda of yours they probably figured they wouldn't get much out of it. Besides, didn't you leave the windows down in that thing anyway?

I will be shooting. Probably non-competetive. Anyone leaving from the east valley Friday evening or Saturday morning that might want to carpool?
-
Good work GameHauler. Btw, did you happen to stick a game cam or two on the catchment?

Trail Cam Molester!!
Basser15 replied to Coues 'n' Sheep's topic in Photography of Coues Deer and Other Wildlife
Somebody needs to put him out of his misery already. Poor guy looks like he hasn't been able to eat since coming out of hibernation. If it's in 22 let me know, I've got a guy that will help with his problem -
What about the guy taking the pictures?
-
Don't let him fool you....it was just his mom calling to tell him that he was missing curfew

For the update... Was is Kauai from June 7-14 and it was AWESOME! Unfortunately I didn't get to hunt though. Started the process of getting my paperwork done a little too late in the game and wasn't sure if they were going to be able to get me processed in time and even if they did I would have had to spend a day tracking down their office on the island to get a tag and the a couple days to hunt/figure the place out. Decided to spend those 3 days hanging out on the beach or by the pool instead:) If I get a chance to go again I will definitely give the hunting a try now that I know what I need to do and the time it takes.

Here's the deal. My folks invited me to Hawaii with them and we are leaving this Thursday for a week. Had originally just planned on doing the typical tourist stuff: scuba dive, fish, drink until I get a hangover then drink to get rid of it, etc. Now I saw a post and some pics on another site of a guy who just got back from Hawaii and took 3 feral goats, and a pig. All but one with his bow. Looked up the regs and looks like there is one area on Kauai that is open year round to archery for both goats and pigs for a non-res license of $105. Has anyone ever done this? If so, any experience or suggestions that you could offer? Think I'm more excited about this possibility then any of the other stuff!

night fishing
Basser15 replied to iwannakillsomething's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
If you want to stay in town head to Water Ranch Lake at Greenfield/Guadalupe. It's the urban pond behind the library. Just make sure to get an urban license before you go(different then your regular fishing license) and any of the regular catfish baits. You can fish it in the evening and into the night when it's a lot cooler. Try the south end of the lake as I've seen some of the bigger fish caught down there since it's the deepest part of the lake. -
Who drives the quad-cab Chevy that was at the QT and Ellsworth and University last night?(Saturday, June 23)
