Officially worried about our future and our herds
IHunt2live replied to wetmule's topic in Political Discussions related to hunting
I read an article the other day about the wyoming and how the Fish and Wildlife Service would not exept the managment plans for the wolves which partly way the delisting took a lot longer then it did. I'm not sure how the debate ended up though. Basicly Wyoming wanted to let the hunting of wolves done as a predotor species, shoot on site. The FWS said why not leave some areas as a troph hunt area and the rest of the state as shot on site. Wyoming did not like what the wolves had done to the other game species so they didn't want the wolves. Wyoming was ready to go to court over the issue which I thought was nobel thing to do because I'm sure they thought they would be sued for the propsed management plan. To me I think each state should be able to do what they want. They receive little to no federal money to manage their other game species so now the feds want to stick it to them by thining out their resources with these wolves. I'd love to see a wolf in the wild, I'd stop and aw at the site right before I pull the trigger. -
Every year I think. When they have tags. The ranch they are on is highly managed so year to year the have different amount of tags depending on the range and the herd.

I'm pretty sure thats how it goes. Its a great chance to get some GREAT meat. Either way they have to take those animals off the range so you might as well get some of that meat for yourself! Pluse theres plenty of meat to go around on those cows you can always split the meat and even out the cost between some friends.
-
Just a heads up its not a REAL hunt. Its more of a harvest/shoot. Great meat though. My parents have gone in with a few other peeple and split a cow and they might do it again this year.

Daytime Visit By Mr. Bob

I was thinking the same thing. They, mostly the mother, looks a little off to me. I have no idea for sure though. -
I also saw that for sale. I was about to put in a bid but I think I might hold off for the 4 section legs model. Plus I'm tossing around the idea of getting a new bow this summer which would limit me getting any other goods. I hope you'll enjoy it and I'm sure you will.

I would say Mules but that takes more then just money.... 2 Dogs is enough work for me. You would have to have a place and you would have to take care of them suckers. Well I guess if I had all the money I would need I guess I could just pay someone to take care of them. I've herd some old-timers say that they could ride there mules right up to deer and pretty much take them with a bow right off the back of their mules. O'... shouldn't have said that. Now everyone is going to get mules ride right up to deer, take to many deer and the G&F will them make it illegal to use mules while hunting.

Incredible World Class Coues Whitetail Deer Mount
IHunt2live replied to AZP&Y's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Mexico
To me it doesn't even look like a coues. Though I won't argue that it isn't, I believe that it is. Sure not worth $10,000 to me. If I didn't shoot it or find it wouldn't mean much putting it on my wall. -
We used one when I worked up in Utah to escape the rain and spend nights in when we had to and it worked out great. Like mentioned before they don't hold any heat/cold but in most conditions here in AZ the pros of something like that outway the cons for me. You can sure get to a lot of places those bigger trailers can't. If I had the money and the space i sure would buy one.

Anyone know how many wolves are around there?

When I was growing up I was told that I should be a cop because I was so strait laced. Well... I don't know what has happened to me because now I feel that if I every see people doing stuff like that and I know were they are camped, I'll sneak into their camp in the middle of the night a slash all four tires on there quads. -
Question #1 If I see them first I do all I can to hide. Hunting public land your going to run into other hunters but I aviod them as much as I can. If someone is up on a hill I want to glass I'll find another hill. Found some good spots that way.

Well... there you go Casey. Sounds like someone is going to get a great dog. Sorry that you'll lose one.

Volunteers needed at Saguaro National Monument
IHunt2live replied to CouesWhitetail's topic in Wildlife Projects
Its not native!! Sure it could result in increase feed but that grass takes over in any enviroment it lives. Its hard to say exectly what would happen but the chances are is that the plant chockes out all the native plants decreesing diversity. There are places in Mexico were it has completely taken over and I believe its not worth the chance... thats get rid of it, or sadly more realisticly slow its spread, before its to late. -
There may be something else you could do but You don't have to. If it looks good to you then just leave it.

He sure did put the smack down on that dog! Lets see some more pic like mabey his left side. Congrats agian Casey.

Got the Grand Slam!

Gino, watch it there buddy! Mike, I thought I let that bird get out there, guess I didnt let her get out there far enough huh?! I thought the 12 guage was gonna blow her up also, but i was using number 8 and let her get out there a little bit so it wasnt bad. I guess you were using your cylinder choke which wouldn't tear it up to bad. I think those mearns have lighter/softer feathers which added to the dramatic affect. You know I was wondering if there was just a small covey of mearns right were you shot that one or it was a single from the covey Dewey pushed up out infront of those scalies we followed up the ridge. I didn't look at them that close because I just thought they were scalies, probably were though. I don't think that area would hold a big covey of mearns. -

I forgot to mention.... When he shot that mearns it reminded me of his dec coues that he shot in the head. The bird could have been a little further out and he put a good shot on it. The bird droped with a nice puff of feather. I was suprized it was still in one peice when I picked it up. Lucky for him it still made for a good pic. Congrats again Casey and we should definently try to make it out there again for some yote, glassing, and for some more sheds. -
I was hunting in 34A and glassed up some drug smugglers, they had on hudge packs. I called the BP and they took my number and they said they will send someone out and they will for sure give me a call. they were walking away from me so I just kept an eye on them so I could guide the BP right to them. Couple hours later no one showed up and no one ever called. Made me a little upset. I understand that the BP can't be everywhere but they didn't even try. I'll give them the benifit on the doubt that maybe the were busting someone who had a truckload of drugs.

I'm gald we were able to make it out before the season closed. We had a great time and for being so late in the season, we didn't do to bad. That Mearns sure was a nice suprize, I had no idea they were even out in this area. We were enjoying the nice view you see in the second pic then he shot the mearns a few min. later behind us.
