I have heard that its still about 2 weeks out. Like many of you have mentions I don't think anyone realy knows for sure. Either way I think it will at least come out later then last year.

I'm planning on being there.

My wife and I are headed up in the morning. Looking foward to it.

Thanks for the input guys. I just got back from working up there, bear baiting, and I think I know plenty of spots now... If they are not all taken. I was blown away how many people were already camping up there.

Just thought I would put this out there. Who is going to the 3-D shoot up at Sunrise? It looks like my wife and I will be going and I was wondering if any of you could offer some knowledge of were to camp near by but off the Res. Any of you trying to get together while up there? Thanks, Mike

Lot of good pics being posted. Don't have a lot of good ones myself but here are a few. My father-in-law has kind of taken my camera and set it up at his water hole were we mostly get does and pigs.

I'm intrested in others coments in this one. Just looked at the season dates and I'm looking at hunting the first 3 days before school starts. Can't wait. I've mostly spot and stalk. Were I hunt, even low rainfall years, theres plenty of water that time of year. Last year I found a seep comeing out of the ground WAY up on a hillside, nearly at the top.

Wish i could take my dogs for some company but whenever they hit the feild they think we are searching for birds. They just would not sit still. Only time I see these to sit still longer then a few seconds is this time of year when its to hot to run around the yard or after a LONG days hunt.

Just got back from our second week trying to trap Black bears with the Game and Fish. We are trapping on Fort Huachuca and let me say that those in the military have quit a plan ground down there. Animals all over the place. Does are nearly tame. Saw 15 in someone’s backyard. The bucks on the other hand are hiding, only have seen one little spike. I’ll try to keep the number of pics to a minimum. The bear trapping finnaly picked up the last two days with a SMALL 60lb male that we couldn't even put a collar on. This morning, out of the same colvert trap we cought the little guy in we got a HUGE about 250 lb male. We had to put an extension on the collar to get it around his 31 inch neck. We are afriad he might slip it though becouse his neck was about the size of his head. And here is the beast himself. Maybe I will have more to say later after I get some rest.

My dad has the 270wsm and I have the 270win model of this gun and they are GREAT shooting guns. My deer this past year was shot at 400yrd (heart shot) and all I've done modification wise is a few clicks with the sight. Someone should realy pick up this gun.

Very Nice!!!!! Looks like a fun time. Thats whats missing from my job. The chance to get out of the truck and keep my eyes open or sheds. maybe when we get to the white mt. I'll have some chances to get out looking for some sheds.

I don't know any details but I know a guy who went up there last weekend and said it was great fishing!

Same here... and the AC stop working.

I'm not sure the details of them but the data is recieved by satelite then sent strait to the biologist, no fly over and download needed. I believe the collars are set to drop off after about 3 years.

My father-in-law uses a yucca plant. He screws a small section of a yucca to his walking stick about half way down and uses that as his shoting rest.

catfish, check out my post "AZ Black Bears" in the Other Big Game section, we are trapping of Fort Huachuca which is in 35A. Can't hunt the fort I don't think if you aren't in the millitary but you can be certian theres bears in that unit and some big ones too.

Tyson No only on the fort right now later we are going to be trapping up in the white mts. I don't think we are going to deal with problem bears either. Wr aren't looking at their diet either, well we are just for the fun of it. Ya they are hitting the manzanita berries a little. They are still eating a lot of grass, some ants, and the lucky ones are getting a little rotten carp from us and avioding the traps. So basicly all we are doing is trying to get collars on the bears right now. WCS, (Wildlife Conservation Society) is a partner in the project and the basicly initiated the project so the Game and Fish for a while were about the axe the project but decided to run with it so there was a little pressure to get some collars on but it looks like the G&F are fully backing it now. cmc I was shocked to that the little guy and the beast came out of the same trap in less then a day. Hes at that age when he just left his mother after coming out of the den a couple of month ago and is now trying to find out were he will live. Been lucky I guess avioding the older bears. We were disaponted not getting a collar on him for that reason, hes still trying to find his home range so he might be moving a lot in the next few years.

Only gambels would have young this early and yes I've seen a few broods. One was acually at the new GF office a week ago.
