Can't even quote me correctly. Yeah I'm done with you... lol.

Oh and as much as I liked Tombstone, I liked Wyatt Earp more. Wyatt Earp was far more historically accurate and the history nerd in me prefers that. I fully admit though that Tombstone had far better actors and was much more exciting to watch.

All the Spaghetti Westerns, Two Mules for sister Sarah, Jeremiah Johnson, Fort Apache, Once Upon a Time in the West. List goes on. My grandfather was a history professor at Grand Canyon for 35 years. He was big on early American history and Arizona history. We would watch westerns at our cabin up in Walker together. That's where I got my love for them.

Well whatever you mean by minion, I don't have them or use them. I put in my own work. I'm sure there are outfitters that have young guys that scout for them... we don't. I almost wish we did though. Good guides are hard to find. Most guys don't want to do the work it takes to kill the caliber animals we do in the units we hunt. I've tried to be respectful to everyone I've interacted with on this post. Most everyone has returned that respect. You're an exception. If that's who you are.. cool. Nothing more for me to say to you. Camera ban or not, in the end I dont care because I don't use them. I just don't want more rules and laws. Either way, I still get to wake up every morning and do what I love for a living.
-
No it doesn't honestly. Neither cost me a dime. Whether I hang cameras or spend a week in the field... It doesn't cost me anything. My time and gear are paid for by my client... plus it's all a write off. Nothing to make great again for me... hunting has always been great.

I don't know about any outfits, I just know a couple guides that do. Like I said, we have lots more time to scout. Well I do because I'm pretty much full time. I can spend a week in a unit, locate several shooters in multiple areas, watch their habits and wait for the hunt to start. A DIY guy might have a couple weekends to scout. Which really means a Saturday morning and evening and then a Sunday morning. He might find some shooters but that doesn't give him the time to really figure them out. And he dang sure isn't covering an entire unit. With cameras he doubles how effective he is. Now, there might be some guides relying heavily on cameras and if a ban does in fact hurt them... well then they aren't very good guides and they'll fade away. Shoot man... the more I type the more I like a ban. I'm selling myself on it!!!

Where can I find "minions"? I keep hearing that word and I guess I missed the minion isle at Sportsmans. I want me some of those!!! Do they come in 4 packs? DUMB!!!
-
Yeah.. they are unicorns for sure... 😂😂😂

I know a couple guides for a full ban. One flat out told me it will help us guides because the DIY guys won't be able to scout as much as us. And he's right. One thing nobody talks about is how this will hurt sheep management. More than any species in AZ, hunters need to be taking the oldest age class animals in any given unit. Trailcams are huge help for that.

I was being facetious... lol. You called "BS" on me and I was being a smart ars

YEP.... just as I though... solid guy.

That's cool. I respect your opinion

I think that "give nothing" mentality is justified at times if you're passionate about your cause. It's the same mentality we all have and use when it comes to 2A. I can understand why there are some that would question SirRoyals motives being he's a guide. That's fair I guess. At the same time and as a general rule, I always try to trust the intentions of a fellow hunter. You and I might disagree on this particular topic but I can promise we would agree on 99% of everything else. I can guarantee it would be the same with SirRoyal. We can't ever forget that. It's kinda like family... we might fight behind closed doors but nobody else better mess with my brother. That's how I feel about hunters. Actually... scratch that. There are some hunters I can't freakin stand.. lol

The last time something like this came up it was about baiting. I actually agreed in theory but then Game Branch Chief Brian Wakeling said it was about the spread of disease... namely CWD. I could never understand why they didn't just call it what it was which was a fair chase issue. I opposed that rule for same reasons I oppose this rule. They're playing politics. "We want to ban them for this reason. Nevermind... we want to ban them for this other reason." That's just shady crap to me. If you're gonna do that, why even ask for public input? I know they legally have to but it's seems they don't care what the majority of hunters think if it's really something they want to push through. I like that they don't take taxpayer money. It keeps them independent. But sometimes I think maybe they're too independent. Who is the game and fish commission accountable to other than hunters on a subject like this? Nobody really. And they're showing pretty clearly they don't feel accountable to us either.

I remember the first time I got drunk. 😂😂😂... you guys are hilarious

Awesome buck!!! Saw it on IG back in Jan or Feb. Very impressive. I think Lance nailed it. You really don't know what you'll do until you're in the situation. Lots of variables. I am happy to see that neither Duane or the guide attempted to get on here and tell their side. FAR better to let people speculate and voice their opinions than get in the middle of it. That NEVER goes well.. As a guide I have never been in that exact position. I have been in the position where other hunters knew we were there watching and that I was guiding a client. Every single time they hurried the stalk and blew the deer out. Maybe that's why this buck was hit bad? I've been in situations where we met up with guys that had wounded animals. If I have a client, I just back out and go somewhere else. It might sound shitty but my hunter isn't paying me to track someone else's deer. If I was alone, I'd help. But again... it would depend on the situation. If I watched someone wound a buck, I would watch it and let the hunter know where it went. 3 days later? That buck is going down. Antlers should have ZERO to do with it. Big bucks shouldn't change your ethics or moral compass. If big antlers cause you to do something morally questionable, you're hunting for the wrong reasons... guide, client or DIY... doesn't matter. These OTC hunts don't bring enough money to pay spotters so I doubt very highly they had a crew out there. I'll bring one spotter along if there's one available. If I'm doing that, its likely someone we're training. Your chances go way up if you have a guide stalking with the hunter. Especially on an archery hunt. I don't think its wisdom to judge this situation either way unless you were there watching for yourself. Game and fish doesn't provide hunt referees so that'll never happen. If you are in a position to watch, you're on one side or the other. Getting on a hunting forum and judging one way or the other isn't fair to either party involved.

You're just happy because you drew an archery bull tag you old dog.

Oh I know CWT very well. Been here off and on since 2004. I took a long hiatus when FB hunting groups got popular. I actually helped run a big hunting group there. Then I came to HATE FB hunting groups and left FB altogether. I came back around here a while back with this new user name and I jumped back on the other day to follow this draw travesty. This post sucked me back in with both feet... lol

Well put. You've actually caused me to look at things a little differently. Very insightful. I still don't like the departments approach but that's only one portion of the issues I have with them right now. Thanks for taking the time to write that. You did a great service to those who are for the new rule.

The rancher might own the improvement tself, be it tank, trough or fencing around the improvement but the rancher doesn't own the trees nearby, not if it's state trust or public land. It's in no way trespassing to place a camera on a tree pointed at an improvement. I truly appreciate and respect everything ranchers have done in this state but we are meant share the land and its resources. Where I hunt I rarely see ranchers on horseback, they're usually in trucks or on quads. If they're on horseback, they're almost always gathering cattle. I've never ever had a bad experience with a rancher. I stop and talk to every rancher I get the opportunity to and I've never once had one ask anything more than for me to keep gates closed and not park on their water pipes. I've never once had one complain to me about trail cameras.

Gotta be real because I got NADA.... lol

Wow man, I truly appreciate that. I just try to treat guys the way I want to be treated. Thank you

Spoke to a friend at G&F. She said they're going back to the really old process. They're just trying to find a cave wall big enough to accommodate the extra 17,000 applicants. 🤷♂️
