Lol.... 200 cameras per guide? I'm sure you're just exaggerating for effect.

The Dept doesn't have the balls to create rules that will actually solve a lot of problems. 1. Why don't we have outfitters licenses? If guides break the law, that guide can lose his guides license. What about the outfitters who hire them? There are guides for certain outfitters doing plenty of shadey stuff but the outfitters can't be penalized because there's no outfitters license. An outfitters license should be required AND outfitters should be required to carry a $10,000 bond. 2. Limit the use of trailcams per outfitter per unit and leave everyone else out of it. 3. Really easy to enforce if number 1 is enacted

Lol... money and fame???? I'd make double per year doing my day job if I didn't guide. And that's doing 25 hunts per year. While I don't doubt there are guys doing it for fame... they ain't sh!t if they aren't putting animals on the ground. Those guys last about 10 minutes guiding. Name someone that doesn't want to be known as the best at their chosen profession... I'll wait. No offense intended towards anyone here, but I've found that most guys know zilch about what we make, why most of us do it or what it takes to be a guide.

Lol... I honestly don't know what average hunters do anymore. I've been obsessed with hunting for way too long. As far as the pressure of college kids goes, I think there will be more pressure during the hunts than there is now and less preseason pressure than there is now... if there is a ban. If I was having a kid preseason scout for me, he would get explicit instructions not to push or bump the deer. Hang back and watch from a distance. Honestly though... in the end it's probably a wash. Again... it will effect outfitters but I can promise you it won't hurt them. A big adjustment for sure but it wouldn't take long. It will be another wash at best. I personally think it will help outfitters. Actually I know it will. We've gone back and forth at length so you already know that in the end... I don't care either way. This is all came about because of a handful of outfitters in a few units. Nobody can argue that. The funny thing is and the reason I take issue with all this is because the guys that caused all this will be hurt the least by it. I sure do appreciate the civil discussion man. I could disagree with a guy like you all day long... 😂😂😂. Seriously though... thanks for not getting stupid and making it personal.

Paintless dent removal is my day job. 20 years in the business. Tucson is a bit far for me but I've heard good things about rasor sharp. As far as the do it yourself glue pulling kits go... don't waste your money. They only work on a certain shaped dent without the need for finish work. I glue pull about 2% of the dents I repair. That should tell you how good it works vs using dent tools. 99% of the dents people use those kits on aren't truly gone. Get perfection for your money and use a dent guy.

Fair point.

No question regular Joe's will have a harder time... I've said that from the beginning. What does that do for the sport overall? That's the big question mark for me. Will we lose hunters because of it? Thats obviously yet to be seen.. What you have to keep in mind is you aren't the typical hunter. None of the guys on this post are typical of the average hunter out there. You're passionate about it... or you wouldn't be on a coues website in April... lol. You're also likely 10x more talented as a hunter than the average guy because you are passionate about it. When guys are passionate about something they also tend to obey the rules more. You're also not jealous of outfitters. I would say that most guys that hate outfitters because deep down they are jealous. Again... probably not the guys here because most the guys here can get out and get it done without an outfitter so there's nothing to be jealous of. They hate us for different reasons... 😂😂😂 I don't think this will make deer more elusive, I think it will make them less elusive. Why does a buck go nocturnal? Pressure. What does 20 cameras on a drinker create? Pressure. The fair chase argument is up for debate I guess. I personally think cameras are fair under most circumstances. The real time cell type cameras aren't in my opinion. But again... thats a matter of opinion and some will obviously disagree with me. That's cool. You also commented before about it being BS that guys will break the rule because it's unenforceable. I'll tell you a little known fact. 80% of the guides and outfitters out there break the law before they even get out of their trucks. Most of them don't have forest service permits, BLM permits, proper insurance, a food handlers card (required on Federal Land if you're preparing clients food), a CPR card or the proper medical kit in their pack. So if all those guys out there are already knowingly and willingly breaking the rules... why wouldn't they break one more?
-
Ok then let's say everybody does obey the law. Let's go that route. If I'm an outfitter on the strip, I'm going to raise my fees $500 per hunt, add that money to what I spend on cameras and use it to hire some college kids to scout for a month before the season starts. I'll take one guy scouting over 10 cameras any day of the week. I'm still gonna kill the big ones... maybe even more. In the end, the only thing that has changed is regular guys that draw that tag once in their life "think" the playing field is level. I can't wait to hear all the "posse" complaints because this will double them.
-
And what are these "hunters" going to tell game and fish? That someone hung a camera? Not illegal. It wouldn't be illegal until a guy used a picture to kill an animal. Go ahead and try proving that. In the meantime you have a bunch of hunters with guns thinking it's their job to enforce laws. Brilliant
-
No they won't. Guys will still run cameras. How are they going to prove if a guy killed a deer because of a picture? Are they going to pull you over, look at the pics on your phone and follow you to make sure you don't kill a deer you have a picture of? What if I run cameras for legal reasons, get a picture of a buck then draw a tag the following year and kill the buck? What if I get a picture of a deer this Dec and then go kill it in Jan after the ban takes effect? It's going to take guys all of 2 minutes to figure out its unenforceable and they'll have cameras back out there. The whole thing is retarded.
-
Do they? I see guys buying Deer Co Cain and other "bait" all the time. They aren't enforcing anything. When was the last time you heard of a guy in AZ getting busted for baiting?
-
My brother in law is a Kiwi and grew up raising sheep, goats and reds. He told me the exact same thing about the giant reds guys shoot. They're all retired antler stags. They wait till their antlers have the highest blood content then cut them off. The Chinese buy them to make Mr. Happy pills... lol.
-
Yeah.. its a sad deal.. especially for the birds. On the flip side, 90% of what burned were salt cedars. Maybe they'll suck a few thousand gallons less water in an already dry year.
-
Lol... Well then we would definitely agree on all of the above.
-
Come on man... we're talking about high fenced hunts... not Cardi B. Joe Biden stealing an election has nothing to do with guys farming big bucks. Theres nothing "immoral" about guys raising deer for guys to go shoot. Would I consider it "hunting"? Not by my personal definition. I hunt desert muleys for gawds sake.. totally on opposite end of the spectrum from high fenced hunts. But.. I'm not going to put any energy into worrying about it one way or the other. The gay marriage thing was a joke. Read my comment right after that one
-
How do either of those effect your life?
-
I would agree with this 100%. That kind of stuff happens a lot closer to here than most guys realize.
-
Jokes aside... I think high fence hunts really bother some guys and I don't quite understand why. Maybe guys think it somehow takes away from the effort they make to kill big animals? Same goes for guys that hire guides. I don't know why anyone cares what someone else is doing. I've never understood that. I've talked to dudes that run high fence places. If they can figure out how to gross $200k in 7 days off 5 guys... more power to em! Have at it!!! I won't be showing up but have fun!!!
-
It's kinda like gay marriage. I wouldn't marry a dude... but I don't care if you do. Doesn't effect me or my life in any way

Just drove through the area. It burned from Bylas to Ft. Thomas. The river bottom is solid black the whole way

Covid, whos had it and how are you recovering?
Desertguide replied to CatfishKev's topic in The Campfire
Does anyone remember what we were being told a year ago? Slow the spread so we don't overwhelm ICU's. There was never a thought that this could be stopped. They knew back then how contagious it was and that hasn't changed. They knew back then it wasn't a matter of if you would get it but when. They were just trying to hold out till a vaccine was ready. Well... the vaccines are out so what gives? Just like EVERYTHING nowadays, masks have become a political tool. Masks are about as effective as pulling out. Might work a few times but eventually it won't. It's really pretty silly. I saw a lady the other day with a knitted mask on. I could see her face through the dang thing. And... nobody said a word to her. It's about compliance and if you believe any different you're fooling yourself. -
It's still burning. Ran in the river bottom all the way from Bylas to Ft. Thomas... maybe even passed there toward Eden. Didn't head that way today so I don't know for sure.

Looks to me like whoever had trash duty got a little sauced at the after party and said "F" it. That was a BIG screw-up
-
Lol... I'm fine. Just reminds me of why I left the Facebook hunting groups.

This post is why we can't have nice things. Try to have a laugh and it turns into something dumb. Because I don't go to banquets, I got on the ADBSS auction to see if there was something I'd be interested in bidding on. Saw this and thought it was funny. AZKiller, if you knew half of what I've been involved in and done, you wouldn't have even commented. You and your arrogant attitude are exactly why I don't go to banquets. Talk to me when it doesn't take a banquet and a stack of raffle tickets to get you to do something for wildlife.
