That’s awesome! Congrats on filling your tag.

That’s awesome! I helped a coworker of mine in 36B. Couldn’t believe how many deer were there. I think a lot of people get discouraged because the border is so close.

Taking my 8 year old on an archery hunt this month. Thinking about sitting water with him but noticed it was going to be a full moon/rainy. What are your thoughts?
-
I might try to go the weekend after Christmas if I can get those days off. Works been all over the place. I did come across a ton of cameras. I don’t think people really care lol
-
I definitely noticed that down south. I sat water and didn’t see a single deer until 930. It seemed like once the sun hit the water, they all came in. That 10am-2pm rule is true.
-
That’s true. I was down south a few years back and had a mountain lion come in and kill a deer at a water hole. I wish I had it on video but I couldn’t believe what I was watching (Only thing that came into that waterhole the next two days were birds)

I’ll probably end up sitting water with my boy. I did have a deer hunt in unit 23 this past October and I got stuck with the full moon once again (can’t seem to avoid it). I never really saw movement until about 930ish but I also didn’t have the rain. Unfortunately, it will be difficult to get back into some of those areas with him so I might find a spot in the southern portion closer to the lake. I know they have more trails where I can drive and walk a mile in.

Congrats!! Good looking buck

Placing an order for new binos… can’t decide on Vortex Fury® HD 5000 AB Laser Rangefinding Binocular 10x42 or Vortex Razor UHD 18X56. Any advice??

I’ll definitely be hunting the nasty terrain next week. Looks like a cold front is coming through so that will hopefully get them moving

Curious to see if Coues deer prefer more of the hillsides or the flat during the October hunt? Hunting unit 23N
-
I definitely will give that a shot. I found two bucks hitting water a few weeks ago. I’m hoping I can sit the high point and give my wife a shot on one of them. A few ridges over I seen a ton of Coues doe but no bucks. Do you think it’s worth scouting there even though I didn’t see bucks or go somewhere else? It’s embarrassing to say but my wife has the record in the house and I can’t let that happen lol

I have tried to figure it out. Maybe one day I’ll get there lol. Okay, cool. I have been out nonstop these past couple months. Seen a ton of Coues doe and mulies. Going to head back out this upcoming weekend before my hunt. I wasn’t sure if it’s best to glass the flats or hillsides.

Thank you. I’m still trying to figure this site out and where the appropriate place to post questions

Has anyone noticed that some of the Coues deer in this unit have a black tail? I have always known them to have a brownish or grey tail. Wondering if this is normal?
-
23 definitely threw me off when I saw that. Also if anyone would like to join me in October or give me advice on 23, it would be greatly appreciated

- Bigbuckfever Thats an amazing buck!!! I would love to harvest one of those monster this October. His face definitely has the features of a mule deer. I have a buddy of mine that lives in unit 36C and he tells me he sees hybrids every time he goes out and scouts.
-
I have been looking for Coues in 23 the last few months, I wouldn’t be surprised if I passed them up thinking they were mule deer.
-
-bigbuckfever Thats kind of what I was thinking. I was down south a few years back and saw a Coues and a Mule deer going at it during the rut.
-
It was strange because it had the same characteristics as a mule deer until it flipped up it’s tail

Father in law finally got drawn for unit 8 Pronghorn. Thinking about going around Garland Prarie or closer to Ash Fork. Wondering which area would be better to take him to?
-
Currently hunting the North west corner of unit 8. Haven’t seen any yet but we did see a ton of elk. One nice shooter
-
This will be his last hunt and I think he just wants to say he harvested one. I have never been on an antelope hunt but I’m definitely excited. Hopefully I’ll learn a lot and I can apply it whenever I get drawn (10+ years).

That’s a good looking buck! Congrats!

I have a Tikka T3X 6.5 and I love it. Took it on my elk hunt last year and I was surprised on how well it did. It’s a little more expensive but sometimes they will go on sale at sportsman’s warehouse. Another decent rifle is the Thompson and center Compass for half the price. Both of these rifles hold sub Moa out of the box.
