anyone elase with a 22 south muzzy elk tag?
coueswt replied to AZLance's topic in Muzzleloader hunting for Coues Deer
My dad and his best friend have the hunt this year and we have been scouting the past few week-ends and will be there the week and half prior to the hunt. Seen a lot of snakes and not many people scouting so far. -
Huge Buck. Has been and going to be a great year for deer hunters based on this monster and the three huge archery Coues taken already.

I have been applying in Oregon,Utah,Nevada and Wyoming for the past six and seven years and haven't drew a tag yet in these states. Also,New Mexico has been bad to me the past three years. Hopefully i will get a deer and sheep tag here. Colorado points only. Anyone else draw any great tags in other states and can share some pictures? I think next year i will put in for something other then the red desert for goats in WY and maybe draw a tag atleast.

My current backpack and the best backpack that i have used is the Hunt Pack from Adventure Outfitters. http://www.adventureoutfittersinc.com/# It has an external frame which is extremely comfortable and lets air between the frame and your back which keeps you from sweating so much. It has pockets for your spoting scope, binoculars, tripod, etc... Check it out. It's not cheap but the best in my opinion!

Hey Kevin, I have a friend that has the Alaska GTX and loves them. I have been using a pair of LOWA Tibet's and Alaska Hunters by Meindl and would not hestitate to buy either one of them again. My wife who hunts/scouts as much as i do has a pair of Meindl Denali's and Meindl Teton II's and have been great for her. She also order a new pair Kenetrek Mountain Boots and just got them and look like great boots also. We will see how she feels at the end of the summer or fall after breaking them in. I have been thinking about getting another pair to start breaking in and was thinking about trying the Lathrop & Sons Banks GTX , Alaska GTX or another pair of Lowa Tibet's. Let me know if you get a pair of the Mountain Light GTX's and what you think. I don't think they are all leather and that scares me in thorny Arizona.

I have the vest and a couple different shirts and really like how they dry fast. I also like their patern and i believe they will be offering them in MAX-1 this year. I might try a pair of their lightest pants this year but it still might be a little to heavy/warm for my liking. Jason

These are always great videos!!! -
Coues Sniper, great post. Does Swarovski, Zeiss, or Leica make a custom turret for your exact load that actually has the yardages etched into it?

I have the 65 and it's great for packing but if i could do it over i would buy the 80HD.

Awesome pictures!!! Thanks for sharing.

There is no maximum. Keep collecting as many as you want. The more you have, the luckier you will feel before the draw. Isn't that the truth.

Great pictures and story. Thanks for sharing. Sure doesn't look like there was very much feed in that area either.

You could look at a 300wsm which is not as big as the calibers you mentioned but close and you can get them in compact/light rifles; Rem Model 7, Ruger compact, Win 70 compact, Weatherby (lightweight models), Rem Alaska Titanium, etc.

That's alot of gun for a Women and both would be to big for my wife. My wife shoots a 7mm-08 and has killed an Elk and Antelope with one shoot.

Anyone going to the SCI show in Reno or the Western Hunting & Conservation Expo in Salt Lake City? I'm heading to Expo in SLC again this year. I love looking over all of the 400+ inch Elk that will be there. There is a outfitter that will be there that kills some huge Coues down in Mexico and will probably have some monsters there to show.

I agree, residents should get a majority of the tags in every state. I think NM needs to do away with the 12% of the tags going to Outfitters. But charging non-residents $3,000+ for the BHS tag isn't fair either. Just my two cents.

If your going to camp
coueswt replied to ultramag's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I second what ultramag said: #11 do not shoot your guns all day at camp, go to a range. -
So this year tag holder, which is the same guy that got the monster in 3B earlier, got a 420 in 9 recently. It has a split 4th, extra eye guard and a cheater. Two four hundred plus class buls in one year, must be nice. I guess the drought isn't to bad.
