My wife was quick to point out that each shell costs about as much as just buying a frozen turkey. Not nearly as much fun though
-
So per the regs, not that you would but since it doesn’t specify size, buckshot would also be legal then?
-
I’m not sold one way or another yet honestly. More testing needed. Both targets would have been dead turkeys.

Funny you mention that, our next trip out was to shoot both closer and further to see how it did. The blended loads of TSS and lead are designed to address the issue you speak of where they are supposed to open a little faster up close but still have the shot density down range. From what I can find, the gel penetration is better than #4 lead at 40 yards. Only time will tell for us guess . I’ve heard the long beard is a crusher of a load but I’m having a heckuva time finding any in 20ga. Midway just got some in in #6

My son’s turkey gun is a 20 ga so the tss #9 was a little cheaper. Bottom target was a Remington #5 nitro turkey at 30 yards. Top target was a TSS#9 at 40 yards. It was impressive.

Not sure if you’re on there but rokslide usually has a few, may be worth a look too

Hoss, I forgot that aspect of the bonus pass that they go by point total, nice explanation. Thanks
-
My understanding is it’s a 10% non resident cap, but not a quota. Could be less but can’t be more. I think it goes by straight point total, stopping at the cap if they reach it, so the non-res tags would be interspersed. Non res may have something like tags 1, 4, 11 and 23 depending on BP amount. I’m just glad it’s so easy to figure out, yikes

Curtis, Bonus pass is 20% so would be tag 1-40. Looks like you drew in the bonus pass. Elk hunter, im still puzzled by 23 over 22. If the 23 hunt had been 100 tags that’s the bonus pass again. The only way it’s making sense would be if 20 people put in for the 22 hunt with 4+ bonus points this year. I’m curious to see the bonus point report. Good luck to both of you guys either way. Both are great tags

Son drew youth 23. Grandma drew late rifle bull 7w but I have a feeling she’ll transfer the tag to him and he’ll point guard his.

Just got hit for an adult tag so I’m guessing it was a declined card for someone but I’ll take it! Could be me, the wife, my mom or dad

My son went through in 2018. Was still 22s then. That stinks if they went to BB guns

Congrats on both and thanks for the write up. Sounds like a perfect day

I’m going to go with hacked. I have spoken with and dealt with the actual UggRedBilly but caution for sure at this point with the account issue

To answer your question, yes the results show up faster in E-Tag

Tract makes nice glass. Not as bright as the Zeiss conquest but dang near, and neck and neck in clarity to my eyes. Maybe people are waiting for draw results, but this is a good deal. GLWS

I won the lottery this year and drew a late 12AW rifle tag. This fall has been a mess with a lot of family things going on, including my father in law having a stroke, so it’s been very touch and go season hunting wise. I knew going in I didn’t have the full season to hunt so I tried to keep my expectations reasonable. @buglethemin came through and made the trip up, giving up family time and spending thanksgiving in a tent. We saw some huge bucks scouting. Opening morning we saw some does where we had seen a monster buck with does the night before. The does were moving down a finger. We followed the does out, and saw a few smaller bucks and this guy in some oak thickets, but we didn’t get a real good look at him but could tell from the body he was big. They fed down the finger and down the slope to a draw to our right, then up the slope of the next finger. There was a clearing about 175 yards away and he stepped out and we got a better look at him. I decided he was the deer for me, and took the shot. He dropped, and I put another in to be sure. Just like that, the hunt was done. Could not be happier with this guy and can’t wait to go back some day.

My wife has a 16” 308. Shoots factory 150s chronographed around 2650 fps. Most bullets have an expansion range requiring a minimum FPS to expand. Starting at 2650fps gets you to the 1800fps floor for a lot of bullets right around 325 yards with 1082ke. Hard to buy a gun knowing it has that kind of a ceiling on it when a 20” barrel has none of those issues. That being said, the gun was used to kill a cow elk at around 310 yards and worked fine.

I’ve got a few calls from game and fish on these hunts. Been a Mixed bag. If you are the first hunt, it can be good success. If you are the fourth group of hunters pounding the postage stamp size special area they are addressing, good luck.

That looks fun
