Or I will take the rifle out this season and retrain it to shoot coyotes for you and all you have to do is supply me all the amno I need:> Keep the Rifle and don't worry about the scotting scope IT will come with time AzTrapper

While most of what you say is some what correct what is never showed in those studies, was the fact that killing coyotes and other predators did help the fawns and lowered the amount of damage that was being done buy the predators. Yes they do have larger litters in most cases, but also the fur was better in the following years, due to the on going harvest during the fur season. THATS one reason fur is called a renewable resourse

Well for one say shoot them and skin them! While the price of the hides in Arizona are not as high as some states we do have more than those states. Coyotes minus the really "junk" will bring you $25.00 and up as a average which in my book isn't too bad, if you take the time to learn how to handle the fur right and sell it right you will do better than the $25.00 almost everytime. I for one ship my fur and find a $37.50 average closer and i live and do most of my calling south of Tucson. So with a little time and effort to learn you can skin a coyote in 15 minutes or less so thats about $100.00 a hour not bad money. After all how many of us make $100.00 a hour doing something we enjoy? Plus the extra money coming in can pay for the gas and extras we buy when we go calling and then with a little luck have some money to buy the wife something nice or take her out to dinner which can go a long ways when we deside to go the next year:)

I know for one I sure enjoyed it. Meeting everyone was great as well as picking up pointers on hunting Whitetail as well. For those who missed it you sure missed a great time! AzTrapper

Being in the "high" couintry like you are that problem won't be as bad as down in the desert. If you make your own just figure in you design a way to chain them so if someone does want to try and steal them two thing happen one they have to bust their butt and really work at it and second if they do they ruin the trap so there is no way the could ever us them. So all they would have is a sore back and a pile of junk they can't use.

The fur on coyotes in most areas are saleable as early as late Oct. I start hunting fur to sell about then, I look at them and if they are reddish in color or have bare spots or bare bellies I leave them lay and do not skin them. I do shoot the reddish colors and some dark ones year round and pass on some others. I start shipping fur to sell Dec. because i have found if you ship any earlier your price is rock bottom and it doesn't matter if they are hold overs from the year before or not. I do support the ATA's fur auctions but pretty much only send Grey Fox or a few cats. As the buyers who come here have always lowballed our coyotes the same coyote at our state auction that will bring $12.00 will most of the time average $20 or so if you ship. The ATA who puts on the auction has no control over prices and I know in years past tried and worked hard to get more buyers who wanted coyotes. As far as when the coyotes fur is unsaleable that is the million dollar question. I have seen areas that the fur was rubbed and singed as early as Jan 15th. but also have shot coyotes in March that were as good as any Dec. dog. I like many others due miss trapping on public lands as that was outlawed, but you can still trap private property with foot hold traps. You can use live traps on public lands and I know a few you do use a few for fox and cats but do not know anyone using live traps or box traps for coyotes. Does anyone on here do any trapping with live traps?

AzTrapper replied to Red Rabbit's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Hoping to be a little farther away from the truck than last year (due to back problems) glassing up something. Just being out with a tag will be good enough. -
Isn't lutefisk a real treat! EVEN with the butter and potatoes it's hard to get down! Snot looks better! have you tried the fermented herring? they do not even open the can indoors! I can't tell you what it smells like.

Well it has all come together and my wife and I are going to Sweden for 3 weeks (she is from Sweden) We will be stay with her family and friends most of the time and doing some camping. It is arranged also to go do some fishing both for Pike and Trout type fish as well as a little time out in the ocean. With some of her family fishing I don't have to pack any poles, But am packing a small tackle box with some lures and flies. I also plan on packing a couple of mouth calls and camo and do some calling, and pack the gold pan as well. So hopefully I will have a lot of pictures when I get back. Hasd anyone from here been fishing there before? If so any tips. This will be my first trip there during summer so it will be fun all the last trips have been fun but cold as they were during the winter

I have a question for all of you what would be the best and easiest way to clean all metal spinners. I have quite a few all metal spinners and some of the older all brass and some all copper Z-rays that are tranished and would like to clean them so the shine without removeing the paint if possiable. Do you have any idea on some type of dip cleaner to use. Thanks in advance AzTrapper
-
I would rather not as some of these are over 50 years old and will make a nice display when cleaned,
-
Not yet I was hoping to find something that would also save any paint if there was any. On ones without paint I will try a few and see what happens. Thanks for the idea.

Would like to get one more for Mule Deer in 36a or 36b or 34a, Whitetail in any of the 34's to 36's would be fine. AzTrapper
