I have to say it was a different day to say the least, It was the first time that I have had a deer not only spit at me but also kick rocks at me! Then have a lion POP up at about 10 feet in the tall grass and say hello like it did then take off. I also have to say he does shoot that El Chupacabra well but it is a little hard on fur. But then again it look like we were a few weeks early to kick off the fur season. But it was a blast and I am sure a few weeks from now will be ever more fun!

Well did you think about entering both? You could use the Photo Check in. Thats was one reason we are doing it! So people who can't make a regural check in point could use the other. Sorry to see you won't be attending ours as well.

Ok looks like the 3 thrid weekend in Jan. with two check in points so far The third weekend in Jan. works for me. I would be willing to set up a checkpoint in the Pinetop-Lakeside area. Ok great looks like 3 check in points now, Things appear to be coming together

Rule for the first predator hunt Dates are either- the third weekend in Jan or the third weekend in Feb We need to pick one 2-3 person teams electronic calls allowed Payout down to the first 4 places. (50%-25%-15%-10%) Each team will put $40.00 in the kitty No road kills allowed Statewide hunt with check in on Saturday and Sunday. Check in can be either in person or photo on both days. People wishing to check in by photo will have a phone to call each day with rules on the pictures as well as posting them to the list. The phone number will be up with the rules between 3am and 7am each day and teams not calling between those hours will not be able to use photo check in. (We will also try and have several places around the state where we can meet as well) Point system for animals are as follows- coyotes - 1 point- fox, badgers - 2 points - ringtails, raccoons, coati - 3 points- bobcats 4 points - bear and lion - 5 points all animals must be legally taken At least one person on the team be a member of CW Unwanted fur will be donated to CW. Ok there are the rules the only thing is the dates and who will host a check in. I will host one south of Tucson as well as take and put up any unwanted fur. Who else will host a check in and or take unwanted fur.

I think that would be a good way to go as well as maybe a photo check in as well, Who would be willing to pick a check in spot or two in the valley and northern part and southern part. I will do one around Sahuarita so maybe one north of Tucson as well? I have a couple of ideas that would help with a photo check in- call a number before you go out say between 2am and 7am with what is needed in the pictures besides something showing the date. What do you think about that?
-
Sorry I have been slow on more input but my computer has been acting up, What does everyone think about having check in and picture check in for those not with close or maybe 2 places to check in on southern part of the state and one northern? If you want to use a picture check in? how would you like it set-up

WE have put one together 2 years in a row now and will be doing another one this year, we generally do it the first part of dec. Cost is $50.00 a person with a 2 man team limit. we do ours a 1 day deal check in at 4:00 a.m. check back in at 7:00 p.m. you cam hunt anywere in the state as long as your back by the check in time, we give back the entry fees, (pay 3 places) as well as getting a few sponsor items for door prizes, such as hand calles, gift certifiactes, scopes, what ever we can come up with, we are located in taylor arizona, if any or all of you guys are enterested in coming up or want more info give me a shout tomandjeanette@yahoo.com i think we had 14 teams last year, is a really good time. thanks tommy Sounds like it could be fun send me more information

Well I think we all desided on dropping the 1/2 point issue and have also desided on a kitty as well
-
Amanda I think maybe you and Casey are right, Maybe a photo check in or a couple of places to check in what does everyone think?
-
I think that rings a bell with me the multi-club hunt- does anyone know when it is for sure? I live outside of Sahuarita so that a little bit south how about some ideas?
-
The raffle idea is a good idea but I think that this being the first Fur/Predator contest we should keep it as simple as we can, then if it's a hit due it again and let it grow at it's own speed. The first weekend of Dec. I agree is not a good time

Ok it looks like maybe the last week of Janurary or Feburary is a time without any hunts, Where would be a central check in area where we could all meet up at the end and also Saturday as well? It should be a area where we could camp out as well? and maybe have a cook out but at least have a fire and a BS session and do so skinning on Saturday as well. As far as the Fox and coyote being the same points, It really doesn,t matter but I don't ever see as many fox as coyotes being taken so what does everyone think.
-
Time wise what about sometime between christmas and new years or aorund then. Isn't there a weekend about then without a draw hunt. I know some archery seasons start around then but don't they also run longer. I think a time with no draw hunt would be the best.
-
I think that $50.00 per team would be good, and not worry if it's a 2 or three man team. That would keep it easy and if say a team has 3 people and one person can only hunt one of two days it would be no big deal.
-
I think that it all sounds good. I think that its going to be hard to nail down a time that everyone doen't have a hunt. We are going to just have to do the best we can and go from there. I think a Friday night checkin or online sign up and then a final checkin on Sunday from 7-10pm would work great. I have done alot of club hunts over the last few years and its a blast. The point system sounds good, and it keeps it easy. Are we going to allow coons to be hunted at night or are we going to keep it normal shooting hours? I can help skin (tube is what i know) Anything we are missing?? Well I think if someone wanted to hunt coons at night that should be ok as that is legal, I like you check in ideas what you you think about a saturday night check in as well, so the animals taken on saturday wouldn't go bad. That way they will get skinned.

I agree that all money should go back to the hunters, I would like to see it pay out to 4th. place myself.
-
From what I read here are some things that are in common. 2-3 person teams electronic calls allowed we have a kitty for every team. payout down to the first 4 places. (50%-30%-20%-10%) No 1/2 point rule for ruined fur. anyone who doesn't want the fur profits go to CW ( who would be willing to skin and put up fur besides myself) we do the hunt during cooler weather, we plan it when there is not a big game hunt going on. (When would be good) No road kills allowed statewide hunt with central check in on Saturday and Sundaywhere would this be ideas) point system for animals- what about coyotes 1 point- fox,badgers- 2 points- ringtails, raccoons, coati- 3 points- bobcats 4 points- bear and lion 5 points (if in season and legal) At least one person on the team be a member of CW
-
I would say if people don't want their pelts the money goes to CW, But if someone wants to have something they killed mounted or if they normally hunt fur they keep it. I would guess most don't or won't want their fur.
-
I understand the 1/2 point rule due to fur damage, I just hate seeing wasted fur. With fur prices looking like they are going up again, that can mean a coyote being worth $20-50 dollars just seems like a lot of money to me.
-
Looks like we all are planning
-
Well I would say electronic calls allowed, plus anything but road kills or trapped animals allowed, as this would be a fun type deal
-
Well you pretty much hit the nail on the head so to speak here are some ideas as for the rules. ( We would have to do it when IT'S cool so we don't waste fur. Let me know what you think of some of these ideas 2-3 person teams with at least one member has to be on the list. sign up on-line and check in a central location with check in hours somewhere between 7-11pm ( this give people a chance to hunt until dark) Point system for animals taken, with 1/2 the points taken away for any ruined animal fur wise. Check in on sunday somewhere between 5-8 again would everyone want to do it for fun or would everyone want to throw something into a kitty and then have some type of payout set up? what other things would everyone like to see?
-
Well thats fine if we do it Im in as long as youre my partner!
