I just bought a new bow a couple months ago and when I told the guys at the shop that I use muzzy 100s (which I have always used) they told me that they would not tune. They said after the bows reach a certain speed the muzzy's won't group. With that said I am switching to the Shuttle T-Lock broadheads. We will see what happens.

Already have one and just ordered another. Great scope for a killer price. -

Congrats on an awesome buck.

I have the older rhino 110. The thing I like about the rhino's is that you can keep track of the other guys as long as they have them too. Nothing worse than trying to explain where you are to someone when you don't know where they are.

Great buck. This is the best time of the year. It is all started now.
-
Great story Bill. Isn't it amazing that you can pattern a herd of elk and the day that you have a rifle they change it up on you. Happy birthday also. Hope I'm still running around the mountains at 75.

The important question is, Is there going to be Karaoke on Saturday nights like the old days? Don't know if it will ever be the same but looking forward to checking it out.

Well I drew an archery bull tag so I thought it was time to take the plunge and get out in the unit with a bow during the archery deer hunt and see if I cant find the nice coues buck up close that Chef and I saw a couple years ago.
-
No tag here. Looked it up on my phone this morning while I was working and again when I got home on the computer. Didn't change one bit.

Cliff Sorrels just got back from Africa!

Congratulations, especially taking everything with a bow. -
Those are some great pictures there. Where ever that camera is set up is getting pounded by the elk.

I have hunted the unit in the past and have seen a few nice whitetail. Of course I had a mule deer tag at the time. We took the Brushy Mtn road all the way down until it hits private. Then hike west about a mile and you can drop down south again into the Apache Box area. That area looks awesome for coues deer. Just be sure of the property lines.

I deer hunted 23 a few years ago and saw way more elk than deer. Just north of Alma they were coming into the farmland to feed in the morning. Saw a couple beautiful bulls.

That was the first thing I thought of too. It might get you a few seconds more time to get off a shot. So who knows that may be the next craze.

I was just up there today with Chef and the roads are open. They got a little rain in town yesterday and when I came home this afternoon it looked like it was getting ready for a bunch more. Someone said that they got dumped on up at Kohles Ranch at the northern end of the unit. So it is starting to look promising. As for the roads I didn't see anything about any roads being restricted at all north or south. I have heard that the north side is all tore up but I come in from the south all the time now.

Well no matter what happens he is correct. That last slide is funny. That is the weatherman's version of being politically correct.

Some beautiful dogs on here. I just had to put down my GSP that I've had for the last 11 years yesterday. Jake had liver cancer and he had lost about 20 lbs in the last couple weeks. It was literally the hardest thing I have ever had to do. My one piece of advice is take as many pictures as you can. When I got home from the vet yesterday I sat on my computer for a couple hours looking for all the pictures that I have taken and I was real disappointed. I hadn't taken that many real good pictures. Jake is going to be missed for a long long time.

But if they close the unit to hunting they are in control of that situation. The fire is outside their circumstances but closing the unit because of the fire is well within their control. It will be interesting to see what happens.

I imagine if I spoke any Spanish they probably explained at the beginning. But it looked like they were transplanting it. There was a hood over its head. And they tied its feet.

Is there a nuclear power plant anywhere nearby? That is quit the collection. -
Neil, that is awesome. This is one of the best stories I have read on here. And some cool pictures. It is cool that Cam, Sean and you were all able to go up together. Kind of like the old days when we Javelina hunted down in the Catalina's. Usually it is more who we hunt with than what we hunt. Well congrats and I am looking forward to July so we can whack some prairie dogs. I'll get Hector to come up with us.

As always it was a great time. I really look forward to the banquet every year. It was nice to meet a few more CWT members. Amanda, thanks for taking care of the tables for us. It is nice being able to show up and know that you have a seat with friends.

That picture of the doe is cool. Looks like she is at least 10' in the air. It is amazing what they can do. I have seen them run full speed down a steep slope like it was nothing.
