Oh I was hoping to get some good ideas. My wife posted on facebook that she wished I would let her know what I want for Christmas or she is going to punch me in the head. Well she got about 30 replies so far and it is mostly her friends saying they want to watch. Gun safe is #1 on my list. Can't think of much else that I really need or want.

Congrats Phil on a couple nice bucks. Way to stick with it and get it done. -
2/2, late November hunt
AZbowhntr replied to firstcoueswas80's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Casey, I had the same hunt and saw lots of does and a hand full of spikes. Nothing else except a lion that I was trying to get a shot at but it slipped into the brush before I could get a shot. So good job on getting something with more than one point. -
awesome hunt in wilderness
AZbowhntr replied to creed_az_88's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
That is amazing. Those are two great bucks and what looks like an awesome hunt all around. Good job. -
Great buck. Here is a picture of it flipped right side up.

Capturing Great Mountain Lion Photos with Trail Cameras
AZbowhntr replied to Healy Arms's topic in Mountain Lion
Here is a picture I got of a lion the other day while down south hunting coues with my phone. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get set up and take a shot at it. It was at 650 yds when I first ranged it but it started moving off further away and it slipped into the brush. How much country do they regularly travel? It was watching some deer that were feeding below it about 50 yds towards me. I was hoping it would follow. -
Great buck. I just got back from down south and saw nothing but does and spike after spike.

I will be down there and looking to camp with some others. Send me an message with your info and I will give you a call. I hunted the same hunt last year and we saw a few nice bucks but I was trying to get my daughter a shot.

Lots of WOWS. And I have to agree. One is bad enough but you guys got 2 down.
-
That is an awesome bull. The way I look at it is you add about 25 to 50 points for it being a late archery hunt. And it is even better when you get the family involved.

I'm like PRDATR but I will be camped in 36B. Good luck with the crowds. No thanks

Any other late season archery elk hunters out there?
AZbowhntr replied to 4Falls's topic in Elk Hunting
Great bull Shane. And the best thing is he doesn't look broken up. -
You would think that buck is doing that on purpose. He lands on his feet every time. I don't see it ending very well either.

What do you guys think about scent control
AZbowhntr replied to couesdeerhntr's topic in The Campfire
If I am rifle hunting I don't care how I smell as long as the guys hunting with me can. I just watch the wind. But when it comes to archery, I wash my clothes in all the fancy stuff and shower with the scent free soap. Even if it is only psychological that is good with me. My base layers are what I think helps more than anything. If you can get any moisture away from you so that it dries and doesn't smell it is an advantage. Just my 2 cents worth. -
Ernesto, you the man! When I grow up I want to be just like you! Tell Ana congrats on the buck. I will give you a call one of these days to talk about my hunt coming up.

What rifle scope do you use?
AZbowhntr replied to rhineheimer's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I have one rifle with a Ziess Conquest and two with Vortex Vipers. Love the Vortex for the money. -
Anybody seen a two point like this before?
AZbowhntr replied to sodbuster44's topic in Coues Biology
He looks like a bunch of the bucks looked like this last year on the ranch we hunted down in Mexico. The outfitter wanted then gone because they were deadly in a fight. Tall and narrow. Ernesto shot a cool 10 pt that was like that but with several more points.- 13 replies

I have called one in while calling coyotes up between Heber and Holbrook a few years ago. A buddy of mine had one attack him while he was irrigating in Idaho one time. He had a shovel and it was chasing him down the ditch bank. My buddy finally turned around and hit it square over the head with the shovel and it didn't kill it. They are tough.

I could have sworn that I read somewhere that hybrids lose the ability to stot. These pictures would disprove that. Great pictures.

Beautiful buck. I will be heading to Idaho later this week for mule deer and would be very happy with a buck like that. Congrats and good luck with your upcoming hunt.

Who's ready for Friday Oct. 25th?
AZbowhntr replied to flatline's topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
I can't wait for Friday either. But I am heading to Idaho to hunt Mule deer for a week. I won't be hunting coues deer until the end of November. -
Looks like an amazing fall to me. Congrats to the family.
-
Phil, I love it! Nothing like a little adventure to go along with a coues hunt. Congrats Jaycie, you are becoming quit the killing machine. Now it is time for a bull.

I don't know if they have unit 21 yet but Flatline Maps have the best unit maps I have seen. And they are a sponsor here on the site.

I have two of them that I bought when they were on sale. Unfortunately they are both on rifles. Great scope for the money. I have been considering changing one out and going to the 6.5-20X50 for a little better light gathering at last light. Missed a lion because of that last year. If I do upgrade I will sell one.
