Alaska Dall Sheep 2013. Tok Managment Unit Draw Permit
AZbowhntr replied to 308Nut's topic in Other Big Game
That is awesome. -
Seems like you could take some of the colored sidewalk chalk that the kids use and crush it up and make whatever color you want. That may work pretty good too.

Apparently he really wanted to get some good footage for him to be between the hunter and the buck. I just can't picture how that could happen safely.

I only see two at the bottom facing left. Where's the third one? This is a great picture for finding the deer.

I have a question for some of you more experienced reloaders out there. I am reloading for a 270WSM that I recently bought and noticed that when I seat the bullet it is leaving a mark on the bullet from the lug. I can physically feel the ridge it is leaving on the bullet. I tried a friend of mines die set that is also a RCBS and it left the same exact marks. I am wondering if anyone else has seen this and what can be done to get rid of it? I have reloaded for 3 other rifles withough ever seeing this before. I will try posting a picture tomorrow of what I am talking about.

2013 archery velvet coues deer
AZbowhntr replied to couesdeerhntr's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Congrats on a beautiful buck. I have been on some of those roads when it is raining and it is no fun whatsoever. -
Awesome buck and great video. Congrats on a beautiful buck. It had to be tough for your buddy to let you have the shot.

Great write-up. Not many guys score like that on their first coues hunt. Those are both great bucks. Congrats and good luck this year.

If I understand it correctly once the annual objective is reached the season is closed for good. Doesn't matter what hunts are coming up. It makes it real confusing trying to figure out what hunts are actually open or not. The archery season this year is in 23N. There are 3 rifle seasons in the south.

Went up to Young Friday to pick up a coues mount from my taxidermist and was wondering what all the campers were for. Can't believe that the bear season is so early. It will be a hard year this year from what it sounds. The prickly pear fruit is lousy this year. The bears are hitting the oaks and the junipers.

One of the guys I golf with all the time has a little dog that has almost died twice because of them toads. He gets out the garden hose and washes out the dogs mouth for about 15 minutes. He said it was almost completely paralyzed.

I have the Chevy Silverado crew cab with the short bed and it is 5'8". Don't know if the GMC is the same.

Oh this is going to be good.

My vote is to get rid of the pinned topics that are several years old with no replies.

+1 on the havalon. Nothing sharper and just swap blades when one gets dull.

That was the second arrow. The first arrow was a perfect broadside shot right through his vitals. He didn't run off after the first shot so I decided I would just put another arrow in him. Once I was ready to shoot he trotted off aways and I misjudged the distance and hit a little high. That makes a very load noise when you hit a bull in the back of the head. And elk scatter everywhere.

Casey, you must be getting the same tag that I am. There were the same number of tags left. I tried getting Hector to put in for one also but he is going to help on a sheep hunt that weekend.

My dad worked on a ranch between Tucson and Nogales when he was younger. He told me a story about him roping a javelina once and hog tieing it. His partner grabbed it and threw it up on his saddle with him. Apparently that is when the rodeo started. His horse wanted nothing to do with that.

Great video. You guys earned that one.

It is nice to at least go up during the rut to check out what is in the unit. But they will not be near there during the hunt. Here is the bull I shot a couple years ago on the late archery hunt. Don't be afraid to call. This bull was pushing about 6 cows and gave himself away by bugling. We hunted our unit just like we have on the late rifle hunts. We glass and bed them down and then stalk them. But that depends on the amount of water. It poured the week before our hunt so sitting water wasn't much of an option. Good luck.

I would imagine that you would know when they cashed your check. I mailed mine in Friday afternoon. Someone posted the correct address to send the application in to a few posts ago. Make sure it isn't the regular address on the application envelope. That will not work.
