Congrats again Phil. It was a pleasure meeting your dad up in elk camp this year.

I have a 270 wsm and love it. When they shoot that good it is hard to pay thousands more for a custom rifle that will only get you very small increases in accuracy.

That is a great buck. Congrats to you and your wife.

We have really started pre making most of our meals the last few hunts I have been on. Make several breakfast burritos for breakfast each day. We can through them in the pack and eat while we start glassing. Lunch meat type sandwiches for lunch. And sometime smoke a pork shoulder, make homemade chili or what is really good is buy a Costco whole rotisserie chicken and bone it out and add it to a jar of that 505 Southwestern Green Chili sauce for dinners. Good stuff.

Congrats to you and your wife. That is a great write up and pictures.

Great buck. I know how you felt. I had the west side tag last year and they would get in that deadfall and you would never think they could hide in it. And the next thing you know it comes alive with deer moving. We found beds under logs that were suspended on top of other logs that you would never be able to see a deer in. Great job sticking with it.

We will use a cow call while we are hiking in and out of areas. Elk are very noisy and a cow call can put them at ease if they are close by. I don't know if you would ever be able to call anything in though.

A couple weeks late. I just upgraded my Silverado and had that size Toyo Open Country's on. They still had some tread left too. There is a tire shop over here on the east side that I have bought take offs from in the past. Usually end up about 1/2 price. They are called East Valley Tire on Main St.

That is awesome. Great write up and congrats to your daughter. You and Cramerhunts have some killing machines for daughters.

I always buy a lion tag and I have seen a couple. Just never worked out either time. But they say the third time is a charm.

Phil, congrats to you, Jaycie and Hector. It was a pleasure to help out even if it only ended up being a couple days. I don't think there is anything quite like calling in a bull during the rut. Great write up and pictures.

I have the same rifle that I got passed down from my grandpa. I shot my first deer with that rifle. Some day I may pull it out and try it out again. Good luck with the sale.

That was a joy to read. You have a gift. And a great bear to top it off.

My question is what did he put the crosshairs on at only 15 yards? Congrats on a great bull.

Backcountry vehicle recovery specialists in Prescott area?
AZbowhntr replied to MT_Sourdough's topic in The Campfire
I always dread something like this happening. I sure hope it all works out in the end. I have a 2010 Silverado and haven't heard or experienced anything like that. -
Pretty much from the Cherry Creek road down south all the way north to the rim has coues deer. Just get out there and glass. Glass the south and east facing slopes at first light and then reverse once it warms up.

I have the 10X50 Meostars and love them. Great glass for the money. I bought them from Cameraland for a smokin deal.

Anybody here that can bolt down safe into concrete?
AZbowhntr replied to PelaPapas's topic in The Campfire
It doesn't matter how you anchor it to the floor but you better know where that rebar is. I would talk to some concrete guys to see who you would need to have come out and mark it. -
Happy birthday Hector. Looking forward to getting up there tonight.

Was that the only rack stolen or did they break in and steal a bunch of racks and mounts? That really sucks no matter what.
-
So we have had two morning hunts already and not one picture yet. What is going on? Us guys stuck at home need to see some pictures. At this point I will take a scenery picture.

Been in a few mosh pits in my day. Usually came out on top though. Good luck with the ankle and the hunts. The hunting might not be the hard part. If you get an elk that would be a little harder getting it out. I would definitely want some help.
-
Wow that really sucks. Did they take other stuff from you home or just your hunting stuff? If it was only your hunting stuff it would seem like more of someone that knew what they were looking for. I sure hope you get everything back.
-
Not sure what language that was but I think they were screaming like little girls. And they shoot it one last time at the end to make sure. Just like I would have.

I am a home inspector and can almost always tell when a home owner replaces their own water heater. Do it right or you will end up having to pay a plumber to fix it when you sell the home. Plumbing is warranted and is supposed to be in proper working condition when you sign the contract to sell a home. I have seen some crazy things.
