Desert Pheasant Recreation "HORRIBLE"
AZbowhntr replied to Big Browns's topic in Small Game, Upland Bird, and Waterfowl Hunting
Well if I had known you were pheasant hunting you could have come over to my neighborhood. We had one running around loose the other day. Came to find out that one of our neighbors raises them and it go loose. Ran free for almost a week though. -
That is awesome. Great buck. Better be careful or some libs will read this and cry child neglect.

I have the 1600b and love the rangefinder. However if I had it to do over I would just get the 1600. I just put the yardage into my shooting app on my phone and it does all the ballistics. They are canned numbers in the ballistics portion of it so they are not exact.
-
If I were you I would get other hunters with their extra stuff that they have sitting around join you and make it like a community yard sale or the flea market. And advertise it. There would be way more incentive and you would get way more hunting or outdoor people. My wife has a yard sale about once a year and usually it is just people showing up trying to low ball everything. Just my 2 cents.

Plus over $50 shipping because it isn't prime eligible. So $300 is still a real good deal.

They are a blast to hunt. One of my favorite animals in fact. However as soon as you shoot one it sucks. We shot one down south a few years ago that stunk so bad that all three of us cleaning it were dry heaving.
-
That's too bad. There is a lady's bow for sale here on the site but it is only a 25.5" draw.

I have two pair of gloves when I hunt Javelina. Once set is for skinning it and the other pair is for handling the meat.

That is a sweet muley shed.

With the wording the way it is I would have fought that all day long. I don't think he purposely or knowingly killed those other two sheep. That is exactly what the wording is in the regulations for Montana. As far as I am concerned he shouldn't have been charged or fined the 30K. I agree he illegally killed them because he didn't have a tag for either of them. So fine him 2K for each of them.

Here is a picture of us glassing on the San Carlos several years ago. Looks like we have upgraded some equipment since then.
-
Glass them up, bed them down and put on a stalk. Or glass what direction they are heading and cut them off.

A buddy of mine shot one while we were calling for bear one year at 7 yards. Completely took us off guard and from the only spot that neither of us could see. His voice raised about an octave when he was talking to me right afterward. Spooked him pretty good.

Both of my daughters phones have broken screens right now. It has happened so many times that they don't even have them fixed anymore.

That is awesome. I always joke about a turkey I shot years ago. First few minutes of opening morning of the first time I ever hunted turkey. Called him right in. I called him the dumbest turkey on the mountain. -

I sure hope your deal turns out better than it did for my wife. She had the same thing happen a couple years ago but the other driver didn't even attempt to slow down and had the bare minimum insurance that only covered a small portion of the cost of the medical. We ended up having to sue our own insurance because they wanted to give her $2K for a settlement when the medical was over $20K. -
Congrats on a buck of a couple life times.

I was just in 23 the other day doing some calling and saw two herds of Javelina. And we saw a lot more sign. There are also some right around Young. But that would be a little difficult to hunt depending on if it is a HAM hunt or a rifle hunt. Feel free to PM me if you would like and I will give you more specifics. Good luck.

This is the story of the year. Congrats to everyone involved.

My Dad's First Coues Buck (Getting it done at 70 years old)
AZbowhntr replied to Stallone A.'s topic in Rifle hunting for Coues Deer
Cool buck. Way to keep at it. -
I used to hunt quail all the time off Kings Ranch Rd and always did great on them. Don't remember seeing many rabbits though. You have to go all the way back until you hit the state trust land though. They are slowly building more and more homes back there.

How much effort would you put forth to help someone like this?
AZbowhntr replied to GTIMANiac's topic in The Campfire
There is a tab that pops off the bumper and it accesses a mount point for a tow loop that threads into it. Apparently he never read the manual. I used to have a BMW and the loop was in the trunk next to the spare tire. It would have been easy to tow. -

Favorite "Non-Steak House" Restaurant in the Valley?
AZbowhntr replied to rossislider's topic in The Campfire
I had my company Christmas dinner at Rodizio Grill last week and left there stuffed. It is the Brazilian style restaurant where they bring you all the meats on a spit and carve off what you want. And the best thing is it is only $29 per person. I am pretty sure that they just opened not long ago. Excellent food and service. Someone else mentioned the Angry Crab. Really liked that too.
