Hunting Accidents
COUESAZ replied to desertsheep's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I rolled my jeep one time while archery hunting coues in highschool. We were in the wet stones in unit 34b. We waited for some friends that were about an hour behind us we flip[ped it back on the wheels and let the oils settle back and started it up and drove it home. The worst was a guy that we came up on in unit 30b he was on horse back as well as us. It was on adams peak. He was lifting his buck up on his horese and the horn went in the fast draw holster and pulled the triger on his ruger 357. And shot his own thigh and it came out in his calf. We had to get him to the topof the mountain and wait for the chopper. That was a bad deal to see.he was just pumping blood out. good thing my dad was a retired policeman and an EMT He lived and is hunting again as far as i know. you sure never know what will take place. -
Minutemen to Patrol AZ border in April
COUESAZ replied to az4life's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
A capture is a capture to me i do not care who is doing the catching. Why would a border patrole oficer have to leave a capture he has to go get the one from the minutemen. Finish what you are doing and then go get those ones after you are done. And then tell them thank you for your help. I do not want to start a fight with our members that are with the border patrol. I have plenty of life long friends that are on the job. You guys are way over burdand as it is right now. I do fill you all do your job to the best of the ability you have. And you need more people that are qualafide to do the job with you. BUt the job you are doing is not working very well because you are spread so thin. I say the minutemen are publicity and even if it is the bad kind atleast it is makeing people have to pay atention to the border issue. I used to use a road in unit 34 the name is Post road in cochise county between benson and the wetstones. If i sat there at night I bet i could count atleast 100 borderpatrol trucks pass me on that road in one night. so the work is beeing done by you. It was not like that a few years ago. I just wonder what it would be like now if the minute men had been there to bring atention to the small issue then. I back our border patrol 110% but i back the minutemen as well for getting out and trying to help out. And lets not forget that most of those men involved there have put there lives on the line for our country at some point and time. They are true patriots as well as the border agents are. -
Bill I love that country. The only way to do it is on the back of a good mule or horse. I bet you saw some nice heads in there back in those days right. I would love to hunt that area back then. Now days during the elk hunts it is full of guides and clients. down around the stray horse. We hunted it once this last year and there was guys in the camps all day and they were pumping hunters in and out of there like a ride at disney land. Good thing is with as weired as this year was we found the elk in limbo above there.

Another good tip is to have a extra shirt to drap over you head to block out the reflection of the sun. It will make your vission much more clear to do this. Another thing i do as well is give my eyes a rest every once in awhile. I will glass for long periods and then pull away and look up close with mu naked eye. It is actualy funny how many times you will look past deer when glassing. If I can i will find me a spot that has rock formations on top so i can get my back against something, and it will help break up your outline. I see alot of tripos and binos right smack on top of the hill. and i can pick them out so i know deer can as well.

Minutemen to Patrol AZ border in April
COUESAZ replied to az4life's topic in Coues Deer Hunting in Arizona
I back them as well. I agree if they shoot someone they would shoot anyone anyways. Camo or not. They shot at me twice and tried to jack my truck from me and I was in plain clothing walking out of a circle K store in front of a bunch of people. This is after they had just beaten an 70 year old grandmother at a rest stop to take her car. They were not running drugs or or people but just tired of walking in the heat. So if someone wants to do somthing to try to help i am with them. -
Well not coues but this is my brothers Barbary Sheep from New Mexico this weekend

Thanks for the kind words Dan. It was great working for you and your Mother. Even if we scared the life out of her cat. When we could not find it at first i had a fear that it had gone down thw hole under the tub between the two floors. I had nightmares of having to pull it all back up to wait for the cat to come out. I am glad she found it under the matress hinding from us. I love doing the work and then standing back and looking at it all done and seeing the customer go WOW that looks great. Thanks again and i still need to see your colection of horns. And I hope you get some good use out of that Mini Skinner . I like that blaze orange now. It was the first one i had seen in my hand. I am going to try and have a booth at the next sports expo.

lion hunters in Arizona do not care if there is snow or not on the ground. That is why you will find the best lion and bear hounds around are right here in Arizona. they can run a dry track with no trouble. Lion hunters here will run right through the heat of the summer. Part of the reason you should trust a good set of lion dogs is for the fact they will not chase deer and other game. A guy contacted my brother and i and wantred to know if we would like to run his hounds for lions. I told him i needed to know the history of the pack first. He then told me they are the best coon hounds in New mexico. I told him no thanks we like to chase lions not rabits and any other critter that runs the desert floor. He got a little ticked off at me about that. The fact of the matter is when you are in as bad of shape as most of the hunters seem to be today (including my self) you want to make dang sure the thing you are chasing is a lion. Other than that the next bad thing is to find out your dogs went backwards on a set of tracks. Hey I know how you tell if a lion is male or female. Have you seen the EL Cato video done by the mclendons. That guy cliombs the tree with the lion and pokes them with a stick to see. It is a good video though.

OH I see he is the lion that is in your photos. I figured he was someone that knew one or two things about lions.

My dads rifle was called Meat in the freezer by most people that knew him. Mine was named by my father as dust in the wind.

Legal to carry pistol during Archery only Hunts
COUESAZ replied to AZP&Y's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Maybe we do not need to pack water anymore we just need to look for the water holes right. -
Are they the same heard of sheep that are being blinded by deseas from the goats placed there by the guy who started johnson ranch and other housing developments.

Legal to carry pistol during Archery only Hunts
COUESAZ replied to AZP&Y's topic in Bowhunting for Coues Deer
Now i will be able to shoot those water jugs off the fence with my pistol and not have to lose any more arrows . What are they doing there anyways all lined up nice on cross rails of the ranchers fence. How do you give them water when they ask for it. When I hunt I have just enough water for me to make it out and back safe. If I was a drink vendor i would most likley be at a country club saling out of a golf cart. A hand gun is not for inforcing the laws that the border patrole is paid to do, But to protect your self from being a victem as much as you can. I was shot at twice by the folks coming over here for work. They tried to still my truck. And ask my friend who was jumped by some desperate folks tired of walking and had his quad snagged from him. Had he had a side arm with him he may have been able to practice his right as an american to protect him self and his property. And it would have saved him his two day walk from the middle of no where. -
