I have killed all my Deer with a 25-06 and a 243. Love them both. They have both made 400+ yard shots for me as well as some very close shots.

That is the one Thanks Young hunter. I tried to post the picture i was sent and it would not post so then i saw it on sportsmans journal and it still would not do it right for me. Yes he is a dandy for sure.

The dust is what has killed me with the racks, And haveing the scope get so cold that it fogs to bad to see through it. It seems the boot helps just a bit more.
-
Wow very nice Buck. I can't wait for my son to be old enough to take the shot. This is his first year to go with us for the whole hunt. He is 6.
-
I have a solution Bill why don't you just buy me a New quad.
-
70.00 bucks i can get it brand new for 90.00 at target.

And then to slam a guy that is down is just wrong as well. We do not know the hard ships in others lives and when they share them with you for your help and respect. Then the least yopu can give is respect. I say this evry time one of theese threads go into this i can get it for a better price. If you are not going to buy it keep out of it. Some doy you may want to sale something and when you do you will want people to decide for them selvs if it is a good deal or not.

Thanks for reminding me that i did not draw a Elk tag again this year. I almost had my stuff loaded and ready to go.

That is what this law reads from coconino county. I just will not have the extra seat for him. I do have the hand holds for him as my rack sticks out far enough for him to hold on to. I may get one of those back rests so it will look like he has a seat under him.

Poll - How many bow Hunters, How many gun Hunters?
COUESAZ replied to bowsniper's topic in Miscellaneous Items related to Coues Deer
I picked rifle just because that is the draw i try to get every year but i hunt them justy as hard with my bow as my rifle and like the two of them equal to the other. Heck i like hunting them with my binos just as much as the others as well. -
I have both kind and have used them both on and off, I think i am likeing the Boot more right now for some reason. My gun is a bit longer than most and it does stick out to one side of the quad so it makes me wory about hitting it and messing it up. I do not know if they have to be cased or not, But when i use my rack set up i use my case as well. It seems to be better for the gun and keeping it free of dust and most moist conditions.

That is sick. OH OH OH can i shoot Rodney. They have even named them like pets. This crap is not good for hunting at all.

Hey Joe good to see you over here. I made my own adapter for some binos that did not have threads for my bino adapter that i had for my others. It is a flat sheet of acrylic that is shaped just right for my eyes on the eye peice with slots cut in it and velcro straps that run over the barel ends to hold them in place.
-
No problem I did not fill like you were saying it As a slam to me at all.
-
It is not hard to fabricate something of your own. I did it for my binos and use it all the time. It is a velcro kind of unit. It is a flat sheet that has just the right bend in it for my eyes and then velcro straps go over it to hold it in place.

I do think i have road my quad in just as many conditions and rough areas as just about anyone. I have had an ATV from the time i was 6 years old or so when i got a honda 70 three wheeler. So i do know how cold it is on one.I know how hot it is on one .I know how heavy one is on me. I have been up the steepest hills and down those steepest hill. I have even made my own road up a few hills.I have been on paved roads and off paved roads. All on my street leagle quad. To drive on any road in the mountains anymore you dang near have to have a street leagle quad and plates. I know a jeep is a good hunting rig and a very usfull hunting tool for most people. I have used mine from the time i got it as a freshman in high school up until a few years ago. Bill wanted to know about ATV's and if he thought he would use it enough. I think he asked mainly because of his age and wanting to keep hunting. The thought of a quad helping him in this i would say he would use it plenty. I am 34 and use mine plenty right now so the older and Fater ( speaking of myself only) the more i will use it. I may start looking at the Rinos and Rangers for the fact i can put a full cab on them and use them in cold weather with a heater and all in it. I like the ranger just for the fact it is a three seater bench and not a two person bucket seats. Then i put a back seat in it and my whole family can ride on it.

I have a 99 dodge deisle 4x4 and a 78 CJ 5 With a new Mega cap in the near future, And i use my quad About equal to the truck. The Jeep is on the side yard And i should just sale the thing because i will never use it again. I am not saying a quad is better than a jeep at all. Just that i do not use mine anymore. I do not like tearing up the vehicle that i payed 30 thousand for when i can do it on my quad that i paid 2200.00 for used. But like i said the quad is in the back of the truck most of the time, But there when i need it. I use it most scouting out new areas for hunting and prospecting. And above all they are just plain fun to ride in the mountains and the desert. We should get a group together and do the outlaw trails in eager. Bill if you want to talk to folks that know ATV's go to www.intrepidexplorers.org

I had a client from New York that blew a shot on a nice mulei buck because he started laughing at the stotting motion of the buck. He thought the deer was trying to trick us. I told him no that is just what they do when they know you are not going to shoot them.
-
Yep you leave it the way you found it. If they are trying to move cattle and come to a closed gate that they left open they will be mad as well. So leave them the way you find them.
-
YEs let us know so we do not ruin our binos as well. It is not bad mouthing when you are trying to help people out for the right reasons.

Yes a helmet is a must. Even if you just putt around. Even an open face is beter than just your melon to prtect your brain. We hauled a guy out of rogers trough area on saturday in the bed of my truck. He road his quad off of a 15 foot cliff. Broken femer bone, dislocated knee ,and a couple broken ribs. we went back in after the abulance got there and brought his quad back to town for him so no one would still it. One thing to remember is to not speed on a one way dirt road with tight corners. This guy told us he was going 50 miles an hour. All it takes is a full size truck around the corner to put you to sleep for ever. I did not buy a sports bike I bought a trail bike. I am glad my 6 and 8 year olds were there to see this. Even though it was a scary deal for them they saw what can take place real fast.

I would buy in rye AZ if i were you. I do not think you pay as much in taxes and fees. If you buy new.

I think that the small black trailers at Home Depot will work just fine for you with one quad. They are not very high price wise either. They have sides that will help you in hauling some extra gear in your trailer. A place in Apache Junction called Gravly's will custom build you a trailer to what you want as well. They are not very expensive. I had them build me a 14 x 5 foot trailer with 2 foot high sides with expanded mesh all the way around and 2 x 6 plank floor and it ran me about 1200.00. I just wish i would have done it with tandem axcels. I had it made to haul 2 polaris quads and enough room to fit most of our Camping equipment.I would stay away from the Harbor freight trailer. I know a guy that had one and he blew tires all the time because they were to small for the weight of the quad and gear. You are much safer to put it in a trailer and haul it as aposed to loading it with ramps into your truck. I have a set of home made tri fold ramps that work great for putting a quad in the truck. I had to do alot of safty features to it to keep the quad from kicking the ramps out from under me when loading and un loading.( many people have been hurt loading them into the trucks.) I still do it but every time i wory about fliping it over on me. I do not even get that filling loading and unloading a back hoe from the back of a truck.

If you buy used make sure it is a four stroke and not a two stroke. Two strokes can leave you stranded out in the middle of no place. other than that i am a polaris guy but agree with what scott has said above. For you i would go Honda.
