They will think it is a riot, But i know atleast one that will pay you back. I spent all night at a dance competition for my oldest daughter so it was extra funny to come home and see this. Yes they would have won a trophy with that dance.

Oh my gosh i may have just wet my pants laughing so hard. I think i have changed my mind about a few people.

WOW Tony what a buck. I think i see one of those hunts in my next years line up. I can not go another year with no hunting. Even if i get a tag i am still tempted to go after one of those managment bucks. Heck they are trophy class in my book of CARP.

I saw one of the truck bulldogs coming down the switchbacks in unit 24B last year. I think it said it was made by Isuzu or something like that.

Good stuff Jim. I know what you felt on this hunt. I was on a junior hunt with a couple of the Mcledon boys. They both tagged out on there first deer and i was just as pumped as if i was there Dad. One was a son and one was a nephew. You could not tell from the proud fillings that were around those two bucks being shot. I do seem to notice a secret that you have and we all should learn from. It is the rock piles or formations. Deer must be atracted to them as all your photos show them on rock piles. Like i have said before your photos are great. Congrats to craigs boys. I will have to talk to there uncle travis and see if they can teach him anything.

There are lots of coues down low in that unit as well. I have seen alot of coues in the same canyons and flats as mule deer. When i say go over the top i mean go over the top not just hike up high. There are some canyons in the wetstones that are so huge. And some bowls that dreams are made of. The sad part to me is i will never hunt those areas again. My body just will not do it anymore. I am only 35 but broken down already. I have seen bucks in those spots while on hunting trips with my hunting partners in highschool that would be in the books if we had rifles with us. My brother lost site of a record book buck up there a few years ago that had to be a 5x7 coues from what we could see of it at the distance. There is a good trail for horses and mules up through a canyon that used to have an old forest service cabin and camp in it. Once you break over the saddle in that spot it is a glassers heaven in there. We named the pass the Ox bow after watching last of the dog men.

I would have made sure my rifle was still sited in. Just set there pick a rock across the canyon and fire a full load of rounds through the rifle and then headed out to a new spot. A couple years ago we had two bad run in with other hunters. IT IS GETTING WORSE. We had pulled up to a spot we hunted for years parked the quads on the out look point and sat on the ground on the other side of the quads to use them to break the wind and lean against while we glassed the ridges. A toyota truck pulls up about 30 minutes later and parks right next to the quads. they sat and talked about the area and how they would hunt it as they banged away in the truck and getting the gear ready. Than they took a pee or two and talked some more and then said well lets go look for another spot with no one in it. Another trip the year before found two guys mad at my brotherinlaw and I and as we were on top of the hill they said they were going to glass.(we were already on it and could hear them talking about how we stole there spot). We glassed a couple deer and moved to close the distance to see what they were. We came back and found my quad pushed off the edge of the canyon. At least some trees stoped it before it went all the way down. We saw them leave there camp that morning to hunt, BUt when we came back there camp was cleared out and they were gone. -
It sounds like you are doing it all right Joe. Are there any good canyons that are steep on both sides and close together in the middle of the canyon and then open up along the mountain to form kind of like a bowl with a couple saddles in it. I know that sounds kind of strange in my discription but i am sure you can picture what i am talking about. Any ways i have found that those areas block the wind the best for the deer. And they fill safer in them while bedding down because they have more than one way to get out of dodge when they need to. What has the sky been like is it all blue sky or is it overcast at all. just wondering with the wind what the sky has been like. When the sky is clear and brite deer can almost be blinded like people when they are snow blind. And when the wind is blowing it makes it even worse. that is one reason they will find the shade and out of the wind is so they can stay alert. This is what i was told by an old timer one time. I do not know how true it is. I have been meaning to ask amanda about it to see if it is true or not.

YOu need to pack an extra drive belt on all the utv's. The ranger seems to be harder on the stock belts though. I have seen all brands broke down on the side of the trail do to the same thing.

Very nice pred8r that is my favorite unit to hunt in all. raised in it all my life. You are right it is hurting in that unit. But if you find a spot like yours you will score a nice buck. I do know of a few spots myself and they hold some great bucks. You do have to put the miles in for them though. and you can not be afraid to go over the top to get started. Lots of lion in that unit as well.

Well looks like it was not enough doe to make the deal.

Man i like those Eye gaurds doubls on both sides. And that double on the other is cool too.

Sounds like you guys are having lots of fun. I have been waiting for this thread to be updated all day. Sounds like you are getting close to showing us some photos of a downed buck.Putting time in like you are it is only a matter of time before you put it all together and conect with your first buck. Keep on pushing forward and keep us posted.

I always thought that the grass was taller under the trampoline becaus it did not get mowed. Now i know it is because it gets more manure on it then the rest of the grass.

I would go with the ranger as well i need the room for all my kids and i like the fuel injection on the ranger. The yamaha is made more sporty so it zips around a bit faster and better but for payload and working i would go with the polaris. I have a jeep setting on the side of my house. I used to use it but use the atv or utv more than the jeep.

Sounds good to me. Seeing deer on the first day and ready to go full steam on the second day. Those bucks will be moving for sure if they stayed down today. Good luck guy's. I am watching this one all day for the pictures and the story to come. And i don't just mean the deer you will get. I want to see photos of the hunt as well. I am excited for your dad to be hunting with you. But more so excited for the hunts next year with my oldest when she goes on her first hunts. I am living my dream through you two right now.

Now that is cool right there. Great photo.

If it had the tail of a coues and was shot by a mule deer hunter i would keep it silent as well.
